Bellator 149 did good ratings, so Bellator has no reason to stop being a carnival sideshow act. Not saying I like it or approve, but it gets good numbers. Last Saturday's show did even bigger numbers than Bellator with Kimbo vs. Ken Shamrock.
That is the exact problem. Viewers give the message they like this, and heck many do. It is a disgrace to me, and i hate it, but why would Bellator stop giving the fans what they want?

They do if they have any aspirations to actually attempt to eclipse the UFC as MMA's premiere company. There is no longevity in putting on freakshow events like this IMO.

I don't think they care. I think they just want to put on shows that will get ratings and make money.

I mean B, just for comparisons sake, Bellator 149 did over twice the viewers of Cerrone vs. Oliveira.

IMHO Bellator will never truly be competitive in terms of its roster, depth, overall presentation. But with the sideshow fights they have an edge, and it's the best edge Bellator has at this point.

Nate Diaz vs. Connor in a welterweight bout!!!??

Connor has nothing to gain in this fight.

And fighters should start training smart, numerous times in a UFC main event that fights get canceled due to pre fight injuries.

Except another big pay day.

I'm not even a big Conor fan but I can't stand both Diaz brothers. I want Conor to destroy him.

EDIT: sent you a link

I have to admit, I am enjoying Connor's devil may care attitude here.

More excited for McGregor vs Diaz as opposed to RDA, but it's a meaningless fight in terms of his pursuit of 2 consecutive titles.

I think style wise this is a better matchup for McGregor, he's got good movement, speed & a vast variety of striking techniques to use against a very flat footed type fighter.

That being said McGregor can still lose this even though I'd probably have him as a slight favourite. Especially if he gets sucked into abit of a close ranged brawl with Nate.

Sick of all these injuries happening so close to the fights. It's time to regulate training camps.

Anderson Silva via TKO in the 2nd round.

Don't see this fight going the distance, nor do I see Bisping being able to win via a stoppage, I think the only way he wins is if he's able to grind out Anderson.

Yeah, I hope Bisping gets knocked. Never did like the dude.

My favorite part about Diaz taking the fight as a replacement is that he isn't going to get his back against the fence and quit, like most of McGregor's opponents. And if it goes to the ground, Diaz has the advantage with his BJJ background. Still picking McGregor, but was a little surprised to see people act like it's going to be Silva vs. Griffin on the feet. The taunting that will happen between these two will be fun to see as well. I hope that Diaz can at least make a fight of it, but without a doubt, Diaz won't be knocking McGregor out. I see McGregor dismantling Diaz with kicks the way he chopped down Mendes.

Anderson Silva has only himself to blame for not getting the win. He clowned and show boated instead of taking the win when he could. He let Bisping recover.

I still think the judging was crap. Anderson won the 4th. He is the only one who did actual damage in that round, and almost knocked out Bisping again. I also do not understand why the fight wasn't called at the end of the third. Still, Anderson fought stupidly.

He was hit with a knee after Herb Dean called for a break. So technically that was an illegal knee.

Dean did not call for a break. He was going in, but said nothing and never got there. It was perfectly legit.

Personally felt the judges kinda gave that one to Bisping, I wouldn't go as far as to say it was a robbery or even top 10 worst decisions I've seen, but I thought Silva pretty comfortably had at least the last 3 rounds so in my opinion I thought that was bad judging.

Thought particularly in the final 3 rounds Silva was landing far more accurate & damaging shots than Bisping hense why Bisping looked like he'd been hit by a bus by the end of the bout. I realise that you can't judge a fight based on how a fighter visually looks, but I think in this particular case I think it pretty much proves that Silva was the one landing cleaner, more regularly.

I checked Fight Metric and according to them Bisping outlanded Silva with more significant strikes in 4 out of the 5 rounds, I'd love to watch the fight again with an audio cue when Fight Metric counts a certain strike as 'significant', I personally felt again in the final 3 rounds anyway that a lot of Bisping's shots that he landed were more pawing shots & while some were landing there were quite a few I wouldn't describe as significant.

I'm happy for Bisping though, I actually like Bisping & Anderson, while I personally felt Anderson won the fight, I'm glad Bisping was the one taking the rub of luck. Good to see him show such respect for someone he himself acknowledges as the GOAT.

I'd actually be content to see a rematch. See if Bisping isn't given the next title shot, I'd like to see a rematch. Was a good fun fight that saved what was a lacklustre card.

Amazing fight. Wank decision. I had Silva by a point. It seemed Silva thought he'd get points for showboating.

HOLY ****IN ****, DID I JUST WAKE UP IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE ?

MICHAEL BISPING DEFEATS ANDERSON ****ING SILVA ??????

Sorry, had to let that out. But really WTF ? Man, it was a busy weekend, and I didn't get near a TV due to work commitments, but holy crap !

I've always liked Bisping, as a guy who could strike, talk trash but was always gracious and classy in victory or defeat and always respected the fans.

While I'm really glad for him to defeat such an opponent in his home country, I'm still in shock.

Mind you, you have to give MB a lot of props for simply lasting the whole fight and not succumbing to a sneaky submission (yes, I'm thinking of you Chael Sonnen) or getting KO'ed by repeated Silva strikes ( sorry Rich Franklin, that's you brother). I mean the fact he endured what Silva threw out and was still standing at the end says a lot (although it also says that Silva is not nearly the fighter he was even three years ago, when he fought Weidman the first time, and lost due to a good old mix of pride and karma)

Wow ! What's next ? Don't you just love UFC ?

Oh, and having English fighters do well can only be good for the sport as a whole !

Silva seemed to be trying to hit that back elbow and recreate the knockout he had over Tony Fryklund ten years ago. I just wanted to throw my remote at the TV watching Silva never really turn it on, and Bisping looked good tough, I was shocked to be honest how the fight went. I mean, I didn't expect Silva to win by knockout or submission, but I definitely didn't expect him to lose. I can definitely see Bisping getting three of the rounds the first two for sure. Ugh, frustrating.

Silva of 4 years ago would have mopped Bisping in one round. Time for the Spider to hang them up! The guy is 40.

I'm sorry, but Bisping didn't win that last round, and what I saw, it was tied going into the fifth I'll give Bisping props for coming to fight though. He pushed, and maybe it was heart that got him the win. So I guess you can say Silva should've laid it on him and not left it up to the judges. He was hesitant.
