Comics Official X-MEN: LEGACY Discussion Thread

If you're on the fence about dropping Legacy, allow me to push you right off with a twitter response from Gage: "Mike Carey has taken Rogue a long way and I am committed to finishing the journey. It's what I want to do. But around #275 or so, that will likely reach its culmination. Until then, though, it's a Rogue-centric book. If you want Gambit more self-directed and dynamic, there's ASTONISHING and his upcoming solo book" I've never heard an author say "If you want to read a well-written *insert character* go read another book" before....
:cmad: Then why even have him there at all?

I don't really see the point of him in this book either, he dosent really do anything, plus he's a main character in two other books.

Gage writes a more tolerable Rogue, so I'll stick with it. Carey's Rogue just made me wanna puke.

So [BLACKOUT]Mimic[/BLACKOUT] is gonna be a teacher at the school now. Interesting......

Overall when it comes down to the split, Scott's team got the better lineup. Im finding the Extinction team to be a much more interesting bunch than the Legacy team. If the two teams ever went to battle (surprise a fight issue hasnt happened yet), the Extincton team would mop the floor with them

Maybe, but I do find the characters in Wolverine and the X-men better than both Cyke's and Rogue's teams, lol. :p I like Broo.

It's hard for me to choose which one book has my favorite cast. They all have someone(s) that I love about it. We've seen plenty of him but I still love reading Cyclops in Uncanny. He has to realize how far gone he is now and I want to see how this whole thing ends for him. And when he's written right Gillen writes a great Colossus. I love seeing Logan, Kitty, and Bobby in WatX (here's hoping Kittty and Bobby make it last a while) and Broo is by far my favorite student. X-Force I love because I get my Betsy fix and it's made me actually like Fantomex, something no writer before has been able to do. And Legacy I like being able to see the "B list" characters writers don't seem to care about anymore. The seen with Rogue and Cannonball, Chamber's class room, and the hint we're gonna see what's bothering Paige are the kinds of things I miss in today's X books.

I compared the Extinction team to the Legacy team bc this one is an actual team whereas in WaTX there is more of a heavy emphasis on the kids and the senior members roles as teachers. I prefer the characters more on Wolverine's side but I prefer the structure over on Scott's and how he has everything broken down. His leadership is amazing and the best its been in years. Wolverine isnt really leading at all. Things seem alot more random and there isnt any structure. The extent of the X-men's role in Legacy/WatX is to protect the school whereas Scott's team is about saving the world. Alot bigger scope and from a reading standpoint, I find that more entertaining.

I kinda wish that there was more to the school though and that Wolverine had a team of X-men created to deal with outside threats as well. I think it was a waste sending Havok and Polaris to X-factor. My dream would have been to have Havok lead up this team. With his ex-ties to the government via the old X-factor, he could have acted as an ambassador of sorts to mutant issues here on the East coast

Isn't Astonishing X-Men going to have a WatX team that deals with outside threats?

The current arc features a lineup from Wolverine's side. I never read anything about it being permanent. The format of the book has a different writer with each arc, dealing with different stuff. I dont know what the plans are for when Liu is done

Liu said she's on the book for the foreseeable future, she currently writing the second arc.

With the book focused on a group of Wolverines "teachers" outside of the school.

Gambit's gonna kick his arse. :woot:

She-Hulk, Falcon and Moon Knight vs. Rogue, Gambit, Cannonball, Frenzy and Mimic. The Avengers don't stand a chance.

Yeah i was going to say, a little bit lob sided, or does Gage think his team of X-Men is incredibly weak.

Moon Knight and Falcon are pretty much just non powered humans right?

Falcon can fly. Moon Knight's suit is actually armor and grants him a level of increased strength. He used to have super human strength under a full moon but I don't think so any longer. He has special moon weapons though. She Hulk is pretty freaking formidable...but nothing Rogue couldn't handle with but a touch..or Frenzy head on.

As much as I like dynamic and hoppy Gambit, I can't for the life me guess where he's jumping from in that panel... lol. :p

I'm so sick of Hellion. Hes always the first one to rush into or start a fight. I'm glad his arms were incinerated.
