Old MCU Fantastic Four Discussion Thread

It's the Marvel brand that's gonna sell it. As its own thing, FF doesn't have all that much that makes it a sure bet than anything else Marvel would do, tbh.

it depends on how good all the other movies (and series) will be.
if Eternals, Shang Chi and also the movies for the known heroes like Black Panther and Thor suck, than F4 will fail too.
Then the success of Infinity War and Endgame won‘t help the brand at all. But I doubt that will happen

If that means they are looking to Hickman's run for inspiration then I am even more excited!
That run is among the best runs and shows that the team works in the modern era.

That's probably poorly chosen wording. It should be: "Marvel may be setting up the infrastructure to start production of Fantastic Four."

... and based on the information in the article, it seems to be a safe bet. :D

Hardly earth-shattering news. MARVEL MAY BE GEARING UP PRE-PRODUCTION ON FANTASTIC FOUR.

1. Can you be more vague?
2. Gee, ya think they might be starting work on Fantastic Four soon?

Rumor mills like this really annoy me.

Setting up a production company for the FF is news. The ONLY real news we've had since Fiege announced they would be making an FF film. If that doesn't get you excited, I don't know why you're even reading this thread, because I can pretty much guarantee you we haven't had more in the past couple months and we won't get more in the next couple months.

If you want to wait until opening day, fine that's fair, but as for me, I'm into this enough that I'm hungry for news and will take anything I can get.

That they MIGHT be setting one up isn't really news. It's also not something that's hard to predict.

A production company called “Solve Everything” is as close to a sure thing as you can get. It’s right out of the comics.

Name one bigger development regarding the FF film over the past year.

I think it's a sequel to either "A Beautiful Mind" or "The Theory of Everything."

“Grass Fed” requires much more of a leap of faith, but since “Solve Everything” is almost certainly FF, it makes sense that Grass Fed is Blade.

"Grass Fed"? Blade?

What does Grass Fed have to do with Blade? That article mentions the Skrulls shapeshifting into cows and then being hypnotised by Reed to spend the rest of their existence feeding contently on grass. Maybe they're both companies dealing with the FF?

Or Bova?

With a possible Scarlet Witch/ Quicksilver/ Magneto connection?

I appreciated Hickman treating Doom as an arrogant would-be world conqueror, but not a being of pure evil as he was depicted during the Waid run. I also enjoyed the relationship between Valeria and Unky Doom.

The Future Foundation infrastructure established by Hickman also creates the potential of the FF being an evergreen franchise not totally dependent on the four founding members.

Total left field fanwanky idea...

Two newly named production are not an FF film and a Marvel film to be named later... It is an FF duology being filmed back to back as a way to introduce the FF with an EVENT type feel.

One summer for FF1 and then the follow up in the next summer.

Fan wank? Sure.

I do expect SOMETHING though to be attempted to make up for the lost ground caused by the pandemic.

I want to see the FF get as many big-screen adventures as possible. Cap appeared in 9 movies in 9 years, so I'm hoping that becomes the new standard for A-listers, cameo or otherwise.

That would be cool to see. I imagine after a few phases the First Family will find themselves at a crossroads similar to the Avengers at the end of Phase 3. While there's plenty of comic material to lay out the New Avengers on film going forward, the Future Foundation is still relatively new, but I look forward to seeing them get to that point for a poignant passing of the torch.

 I'd go a step further. I'd do a trilogy. And I'd do a real trilogy (not just three unrelated films).

The first film should be Act 1. The second film should be Act 2 and the third film should be the conclusion.

And even if they aren't filmed concurrently, the should be written that way.

I had a dream last night that I was at Comic Con 2021.

At the Marvel presentation, they showed a film. We were flying over a gray, barren, rocky planet with deep valleys. Suddenly a huge eyeball appeared in the center of it and the film went from black-and-white to color and the eye was brilliant blue and the surrounding rocky landscape was orange.

It was really cool.:D

Was really hoping that there would be FF news this year before covid happened. But next year makes much more sense, especially considering it's the team's 60th anniversary.

It would be better though if there were a FF film next year rather than news about a film. Imagine James Bond's 50th anniversary was not Skyfall but news about a possible film.

That would have been the ideal outcome but was sadly never going to happen.
