I was just watching Noelle on Disney+ to get in the holiday spirit and I was pleasantly surprised to see Kingsley Ben-Adir as the male lead / love interest. He was good
You should see him in the Showtime series Comey Rule. He does a rather spot-on voice impersonation of Obama all while nailing the (then) President’s mannerisms. He projects the aura of a “confident, calming, intelligent leader” quite well there that I could see him as Reed.

Previously, a couple of pages back we all compared the FF to the Obama Family. So who better to embody the character of Reed than a guy who played Obama. :o

Judd Apatow's Fantastic Four

Reed Richards: James Franco
Sue Richards: Aubrey Plaza
Johnny Storm: Jonah Hill
Ben Grimm: Seth Rogen

seriously though, Seth Rogen as The Thing is an inspired choice.

Could Marvel have made a mistake with hiring Watts to helm F4?
He's no Russo brother, for sure.
Except for a couple of good scenes, the MCU Spider-Man overall is one of the least good adaptions among the other solo flics. Doesn't matter that's it's the web-crawler, Marvel's biggest CB character. The MCU version is on pair with Ant-Man (who's got the upper hand among them because of its originality, and smaller scope).
And this has nothing to do with the great Holland or a few other actors, I'm talking the complete film.

Should Marvel have tried better with a property like F4? I mean, it's actually Fantastic Four we're talking about. A major thing in the history of Marvel Comics.
It seem to be hard to get them right in live action. And it appears that Marvel don't aim any particular high with their attempt either. More like "let's just get it done and be over with it".
It's like they don't want to try, or that they don't care.
Either they've become lazy, or overconfident that they will strike gold no matter what, or simply that F4 is uninteresting and should be treated as second-tier characters.

Would it be too much to want somebody like JJ Abrams for this? He's got quite good experience with big films, and they're all ensemble stories in a way. Even Super 8.

Let's hope Watts soon leave the project of creative differences and someone better replace him. It would benefit the final film a lot
If Sam Raimi, the man himself, can agree to do a Marvel film again, anything could happen.
Time for Abrams to enter MCU!!!!

And now I'm counting on getting some backlash for my opinion.

I maybe late to the party but did you guys see that Vegas has Giancarlo Esposito as the favorite to land the Doom role? You already know who they have as the leads to play Reed and Sue.

I personally hope they avoid casting Esposito as a villain. Brilliant actor, but he’s getting typecast as the villain so much nowadays that I’d prefer he’d get cast a good guy in the MCU just as a change pace. I actually think he’d make a good Charles Xavier. Since I think he can totally pull off playing a more morally ambiguous, less virtuous version of the character than we’ve seen in past iterations under Fox. Which would be more in line with how a lot of the comics tend to portray him.

I can see that. But I think he actually likes playing the bad guy. He can pull off either Charles or Magneto. What do you think of Denzel playing Charles and Esposito play Magneto? Denzel said he's actually interested in it but Marvel has not contacted him about it. Plus it can play great because the X-men are based off of the 60's civil rights movement, particularly Malcolm X and Martin Luther King.

I like Esposito more for Magneto than I do Denzel Washington—idk what an appropriate role in the MCU would be for him?

Maybe Denzel Washington can play Nathaniel Richards if his son is cast as Reed.

Agreed. It's Denzel. You find something for him to make him a part of the MCU.

The number 4. "This number also resonates with loyalty, patience, wisdom and trust."

So if we wanna put on our tinhats an theorize. We could say each member of the team will give off an aura of this. Loyalty-Ben Patience-Sue Wisdom-Reed Trust- Johhny The number 4 also represent creation, which takes patience to achieve.

This could be reference to the Negative Zone. Eventually Reed will definitely crack it and the interesting lines are most commonly referred to in Theoretical Quantum Physics.

Each line intersecting could represent portion of reality dipping into the negative zone. There 6 line pairs with a total If 12 intersection points. 12 is often associated with cosmic power order and tradition. If my hunch is correct. This could mean the overarching villain teased through the series will be Galactus. Perhaps even the Beyonder or Surfer.

They forgot the words "fan" and "stic" on either side of the "4" logo. :o

Have anyone noticed the similarities between the logos?

It’s funny, I’ve noticed Disney has been adding like, a woman best friend character to their main leads now like mulan and Princess Jasmine. I think it’s bad press these days when movies don’t pass the Bechdel test. Do you think Sue might get a best mate? And if so who?

it’s hard to introduce her now but in the comics Medusa was always sort of the Betty to Sue’s Wilma Flintstone

Alicia Masters?

Jennifer Walters makes sense given her long standing ties to the FF and the fact that Ms. Maslany has already been cast in the role. We don't know when or even if the Royal Family will make their (official) MCU debut, so Crystal and Medusa may be off the table. I could see Jen and Sue being old college chums.

I'd rather they are not old college chums. In the comic Sue suddenly felt she had someone else to talk to and Jen was a newbie on the team. I'd like to keep that element.

Bull****. Homecoming was critically acclaimed and FFH was even more so. And the first Spider-Man film to crack 1 billion WW. If anything moving him on to F4 is a blessing. He seems to do better with the campy family style anyways.

Always disliked this idea. It makes the FF seem to be an offshoot or subsidiary of the Avengers. They should be their own team that are equals to the Avengers. It's also why I hate the idea of Tony or SHIELD having anything to do with the team.

If its done without undermining the team I dont mind. Such idea as Doom salvaging vibranium for his suit and Doombots.

The Avengers Tower becoming the Baxter Building yeah. But that logo? Cringe. 4 should be their own thing yeah, but them being in the MCU undoubtedly means theyll take some shortcuts introducing the characters.

I rarely agree with fan casts as they typically rely on appearance and not acting ability, but the popular fan casts for Fantastic 4 seem so obviously perfect.

It’s hard to beat this lineup:
Reed - John Krasinski
Sue - Emily Blunt
Johnny - Dacre Montgomery
Ben - Seth Rogen

I love that cast so much

That's assuming Jen will sub in for Ben at some point, which is unlikely. Hopefully the dynamic of the MCU FF will be such that Sue won't be lonely.

I could certainly live with that trade-off. She-Hulk joining the FF was such a bold move for the comics that, iconic as it is, the MCU might not have time to really commit to. I'm sure we'll get team-ups and Jen & Sue enjoying cocktails, but I'd wager they focus on the core family. Jen will have her own show anyway, so robust characterization will hopefully take priority to matching the group shots from the comics.

I think those movies are lacking in strong character work and interesting storytelling, to me.
