Pacific Rim - Part 1

Makes sense.

I'm happy that Del Toro changed things from the script. Even though I stopped reading it nearly halfway to avoid spoiling the entire movie, I'm still going to be surprised by stuff in the beginning since he's altered it. And I've mostly forgotten what I've read for the most part, so that makes it even better.

Her home is still destroyed by kaiju attack.

Just not the kaiju attack.

in the time frame between the Trespasser attack and when the first Jaeger comes online are there more Kaiju attacks? I think its about a 2 year time frame.

I don't think we've given any details on the frequency of the attacks. But I'd say given the amount of Jaegers, and how quickly each one is deployed, I would wager kaiju attacks are somewhat frequent.

I think it's about time we got our second trailer.

I'll see this fifty times in theaters if it means GDT will finally get to make At the Mountains of Madness.

All I know is that those early screening reports have me excited.

no suprise here. it looks like a geek movie. so chances that we will like it are high.

you are joking and hahaha. but there are some people out there who think that if they watch a movie 100 times that the studio will get enough money . of course on SHH we know that this is not how this works. :yay:

i like how predictable everything sounds. make it is as simple and as clear to the general public. than you have a chance to make a profit.

Will Guillermo Del Toro be the one to usher in the anime meha Hollywood dawn? :wow:

If he opens the gates then it should be quite the roller coaster ride.

Really good chance of that happening.

Yeah I need a second trailer soon. I was really stoked for this from the start, but the first trailer did very little for me. I want an awesome second trailer to get me stoked again! Though the awesome images being released have helped some.

we all know that one movie will make a lot money. the question is which one? i hope its a del Toro movie and not from hack a director. the hack would never appreciate it.

the cgi technology is ready and hollywood has experience with 200 million movies. everything under 200 is out of the question. i demand an ultra expensive movie where robots destroy 40% of Earth's core :)

Ah ACE....it's like Marvel vs Capcom, except with mecha from like 10 different shows. I really wanted to play one of them.:csad:

Not to crap on Mr. Robert Meyer Burnett, but his Twitter reaction to Pacific Rim seems very similar to his Twitter reaction to Green Lantern at the same 3-month out studio showcase..

"GREEN LANTERN f***ing ROCKED. The 3D was AWESOME. As a lifelong DC fan, the opening ten minutes made me squeal like schoolgirl."

"Believe it. The first ten minutes will make you believe. The 3D is also outstanding."

"GREEN LANTERN was terrific fun. The fact that it works at all is a miracle, but it really does cook. The first ten minutes sold me."

"The 3D in the opening ten minutes is wonderful. But YOU MUST see it with polarized glasses. The color is great."

"It’s not campy at all. The humor is earned. And Mark Strong as Sinestro was AWESOME"

"I LOVED GREEN LANTERN. Don’t know why, but it kinda’ felt like THE LAST STARFIGHTER. I know…”Huh?!? What?!?”"

I was lucky to have a modded PS2. ACE2 and 3 were awesome, the first one was a little awkward, because the controls really didn't feel all that refined. Then ACE:R got released for the PS3, I was so pumped, but it felt like the first ACE all over again.

At least we got another awesome Intro out of it.

I'm gonna give this guy the benefit of the doubt this time.

Because it's Pacific Rim.

Claims such as the ones we're reading, seem pretty logical.:woot:

You know, if it was just that one person saying it, I would probably be a little skeptical.

But the fact that nearly everyone else has pretty much said the same thing about this movie kind of gets me thinking, "You know, this just might be really, really good."

I've learnt a long time ago never to trust early screening response when it is written by people who get excited over every action movie.

Let the actual critics do their work because their opinion is usually more well thought out.

Everyone is an "actual critic" IMO.

It's not like you need a PHD to review a movie. You either like it or you don't. These people apparently like Pacific Rim.

Critics don't always reflect the opinions of the general populace on films. In fact, more often than not, they tend to be more biased.

Case in point, Olympus Has Fallen. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 50% score from critics. In contrast, the audience rating is nearly 80%.

Sure, it's good to look at every single person's opinion to make a fair judgment. At the end of the day, though, the only opinion that's going to matter is your own.

Can someone just explain why everyone is freaking out so hardcore over this film?
It's not like we havent had giant monsters and giant robot films before so what is so different about this?
