Pacific Rim - Part 1

I don't understand why anyone would want a Nolan styled Power Rangers movie... doesn't seem to fit.

I don't understand why anyone would want a Power Rangers movie, period. But to each his own.

I assumed that a monster they were fighting got ahold of their sword and used it against them

You know, I've been wanting a serious cinematic reboot of the Power Rangers for a while now even though I didn't like watching the shows because of how cheesy they were.

I think the Power Rangers could be made into a badass franchise that drops the silliness of the shows and gets darker with a larger scope, knowing when to take itself seriously but also throwing some humor in the movie so it doesn't lose its roots.

You would have to change every single thing that is in anyway recognizable as "Power Rangers"-like including the name "Power Rangers." It would largely miss the point.

If the point of Power Rangers is to be silly, then that's a point I think needs to be dropped. Power Rangers are known for their suits, big ass robots, aliens, etc. It wouldn't lose anything by dropping the silliness and actually replacing that with good humor that isn't cringe-worthy or eye-rolling bad.

I guess you could go with the japanese name, calling Super Sentai or something.

Imagine Avengers combined with Pacific Rim, and boom, you pretty much have what a good Power Rangers movie would look like.

When I think dropping silliness, it's stuff like posing, announcing their names and having colored smoke blow up in the back background. You could easily do a Movie that doesn't appear entirely kiddy, but still retains its humor, if you keep the tone like the recent Marvel Movies.

A PR film only needs to be as "dark" and "gritty" as the first Ninja Turtles film.

Pretty much. But what about Bulk and Skull? :awesome:

That stuff is part of the silliness, but the humor in PR has always been bad too imo. I still want humor, but I don't want it to take over the movies like it did with the shows imo.

They should be there in some form, even if only as cameos. Hell, the Dukes of Hazzard reboot, not that it was all that good, made Boss Hogg and Roscoe much more deadly than their tv roots.

"To fight monsters, we created monsters."

I wished they made something like biomechanical giant humanoids like Evangelions or something. That would be cool.

Keep the same people. I'd say set this film in the 90's. Cause I wanna see large cut off sleeves and multicolored sweatpants swiftly moved in by martial arts. It will be glorious I tell you.

Glorious.

So, the reason there are two pilots per every Jaeger (minus Coyote Tango), is so that the each pilot has an easier time managing the massive frame. But what does that mean for the afforementioned Japanese Jaeger? Is it going to be reserved for ace pilots who have the mental capacity to pilot such a large thing by themselves?

Isn't the Japanese Jaeger the oldest one, launched several years before the others?

I hope there's a special reason the Chinese need three people for the Crimson Typhoon, maybe for the extra arm. The brief shot of them in trailer was nice with the deep red suits.

I need a Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs Movie. I literally got goosebumps watching the transformation and hearing that voice.

I still listen to the *****in' theme song regularly. "Giant robot cowboy". That **** sells itself.

When did the Pacific Rim thread turn into the Power Rangers thread?
