Plus, they dont need to convince the geek audience, they are eating it up at those conventions, response was crazy here according to Twitter buzz.

What they need is to get footage out, to build the buzz with the general audience.

So is there a reason behind the goofy names they are giving these robots.......i mean come on, some of them sound like porn names..." gypsy danger "
Well what would you have named them?

calling it now. the new trailer would debut with iron man 3

Graphic novel cover.

Well, he also said that the movie is 85% done, so they gotta have some new trailer out soon. God knows when that will be, the next WB tentpole is MOS if I remember correctly, and they're not gonna wait till June.

So frustrating.

It'll be Iron Man 3. Usually the big summer blockbusters put their trailers with the first of the summer which is Iron Man.

Jesus, early May. Unless it's attached to the overseas prints for IM3 (we are getting it on April 24th).

Makes me crazy, reading all those ecstatic comments on Twitter and we get squat.

WB did release an abbreviated 4 min trailer from Wondercon for Green Lantern two years back. But then again they were in desperation mode to sell the movie at that point.

ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND OF COURSE

Del Toro said that this is a trailer they whipped up JUST for the Wondercon convention, that they won't show it again.

Man, I love you Del Toro but this is a bit dickish. Tired of those exclusives.

He said it would play in Vegas as well I believe.

Nice to know that the Jaeger Hunnam and Rinko control is an actual set that moves.

I want to see more of the monster designs.......

I saw the WonderCon presentation earlier today. Guillermo Del Toro curses like a sailor in front of small children, lol :) .

So some notes:

- One new creature in the trailer was a flying Kaiju, looked like a mix between Rodan and a pterodactyl.

- The big money shot in the trailer is near the end. Gispy Danger is battling one of the big Kaijus in a city and the Jaeger wields a giant ocean tanker like a sword and bashes the Kaiju with it. The last big shot is Gispy Danger clapping the pieces of the tanker on both sides of the Kaijus head and the Kaiju just takes the blow and roars.

- Charlie Day's character bickers with Hunnam's character. Day says they need to understand the Kaiju. Hunnam thinks they should just "blow 'em to pieces." In another shot Day refers to the Jaegers as *paraphrasing* 1,000 tons of pure badass. Burn Gorman was in the background of some of these shots.

- Del Toro revealed in the QnA that the Kaiju are controlled by an alien race who want to essentially "eat planets." He said the graphic novel would have more backstory on this and more backstory on the movie's main characters.

- The Jaeger model in the graphic novel cover above is an early generation Jaeger model. We do see shots of them in the movie as well.

- Ron Perlman is briefly seen in the trailer. He's decked out in nice clothes and sunglasses.

- In the trailer you can recognize Guillermo Del Toro's familiar color palette a lot more, specifically the heavy over wash of yellow and amber.

Man, this movie can't come out soon enough!

Willem Dafoe? I dont see him listed as part of the cast. Wonder if that is correct. Really want to see this movie now.

Oops, I think it was actually Burn Gorman (Dark Knight Rises, Torchwood) and I just got confused.

Willem Dafoe is in this? ****, why not just have him go out and battle the Kaiju.

EDIT: Still keeping joke.

In 2011 I had read he was cast in the movie and I thought he was going to be some sort of mad scientist that came up with the Jaegers. Weird how I thought Burn Gorman was him.
