Pacific Rim - Part 3

I love Charlie Hunnam's scream at the end of the new trailer they released. It looks the end of the fight with Knifehead is going to be emotional.

Idris Elba's voice is so hypnotizing, can't tell if his or Hugh Laurie's is more dreamy.

Budget had to be huge just by hearing the concept of the movie. Giant robots fighting, fighting monsters.
Del Toro, who has never directed a big hit, got a studio to give him nearly 200mil for an original film starring a T.V actor. And not even a heavily buzzed about T.V actor. He is a pimp all the way.

And why is someone comparing this to Battleship in any way? That's just silly. I have and continue to be skeptical of this movie's chances of success at the box office because it feels/looks too inside fanboy and the marketing overall is not great but it looks like a movie the director wanted to make and wants to be good. Battleship was based on a board game yet had nothing to do with the board game and had a director who was purposefully channeling Bay.

Considering that [BLACKOUT]Yancy will die after the fight[/BLACKOUT], I'm sure it will.

Also...A snippet of Elba as Stacker Pentecost.

Battleship my foot.

So the main pilot of the main mecha gets chewed out by the commanding officer? They've gone full Gundam.:oldrazz:

Looks like this will be the beginning of the clip wave. Moar pls.

Come on! I know you know that you can troll better than that.

I'm not trying to troll. I just can't believe Del Toro doesn't know that a movie like this needs big name actors and a better title. The name "Pacific Rim" does nothing to convey what this movie is about.

The kaiju come out of a portal, one that's situated in the pacific rim. And effects all the nations around it. Who cares about the bloody name?

There's no set in stone method for success.

Obviously for the GA such a name doesn't immediately stick with them since there's a good chance they don't know what it refers to. Then you also have the people who mock it just because of the "Rim" in the title. But I love how cool it sounds

I'm okay with the name but marketing wise it's not the best name they could have gone with. It's not cool and or intriguing like "The Matrix." At least it wasn't named Mecha's vs. Monster's or some dumb crap like that.

What other name could they have used?

Pacific War?
Jaeger Guardians?
Kaiju Wars?

Nothing works as good as Pacific Rim.

:applaudAhhh, I see what you did there. Nice. Can't believe I didn't see the connection.

I don't personally have much faith in Pacific Rim doing well as a movie. It seems like it lacks any real story to it. Is there anything actually good about it? It looked like 2013's "Battleship" to me.

There is a lot of backstory to this world actually.

Current projections based on tracking. Which of course are just educated guesses.

Opening Weekend: $55,000,000
Total Domestic Gross: $185,000,000

How do we feel about that?

That'd make it a flop, so that'd suck, but whatevs, I'm just concerned with it living up to my wet dreams about it.

Actually I would gladly accept that.
