Days of Future Past Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen Return for Days of Future Past

That Mckellen interview on the SHH homepage was really neat. McKellen and Stewart are such class acts.

I wonder if that means both the future and present versions of Magneto and Xavier will share equal screentime? Btw, I'm ecstatic to see these two amazing actors returning to the X-Men franchise, but I hope they will figure a way to let all four actors shine in the movie.

If Patrick Stewart is coming back, how are they going to explain the events in X3?

Didn't Jean killed Professor X in X3:the last stand??

And how in the world is Jean and Cyclops going to return when they're both dead as well in X3??

But then again, anything can happen.

First Class ending shows Professor X crippled. But the begining of X3 shows Professor X able to walk again.

This is one messed up X men movie Universe, just saying.

Ultimately, as long as they give us a great movie I could care less how they "explain" the continuity issues. If they are using the time travel premise, that could in theory give them creative license to do whatever they want with the X-Men/X2/Last Stand timeline.

If I see McKellen acting opposite of Fassbender, my head may explode.

Am i the only one that doesn't like this...at all?

X-Men and X2 are great movies, specially the second, but they are not good X-Men adaptations.

I was hoping First Class was a new take on things, a restart......sad to know it isn't so.
Pssst....no. You're not.

But fear not, the future still has promise. (not pun intended)

Anyone think they should have cast mcavoy and fassbender as each others roles? as i think mcavoy looks closer to mckellan and fassbender to stewart than the other way around.

Yeah the "bald" Charles Xavier walking with Eric while visiting a young Jean Grey is just another one of the continuity flaws Fox wants you to ignore.

So ignore it or else....!

....Second thought I don't think they care if you ignore it or not just as long as you still go out to see it.

Heres something that i have been working on...

Its all confusing right now.

I don't think Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will have much screentime as James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. And just like in the Star Trek reboot, I think they will only meet their younger/old version once or twice.

That's amazing! Wow, so excited for this. All four of them are amazing actors. I disagree with the post that says they look like each other's opposite's. I think Fassbender is the spit of Mckellen.

Whoever time travels in the story should discover that several timelines exist, and there is no certainty they will end up in the right one.

Maybe the readings of the time machine indicate several timelines or, if it's a mutant with time-travel powers, their senses become aware that several timelines exist. Alternatively, include Destiny and have her explain that several timelines exist.

That would be the most logical answer. It explains the continuity issues in a few seconds.

I think James looks a lot like the young McKellen photos I've seen, and he looks nothing like young Patrick Stewart, so I don't disagree completely. But I think that James' personality and ideals are much closer to Professor X, so it was a wise choice. :cwink:

Does anyone know how far into the future this movie will take place? After Last Stand? Or before the first X-Men?

I'm thinking post X3 because Wolverine takes place after X3 and Millar said there are connections to DoFP, and with that Jean Grey cameo in Wolverine rumours, but anything can happen.

would you all like the movie to say when is this future happening? with a tagline?

something similar to "the not too distant future" but this time with something like:

Year 2016.

not so far from actual release date, so the actors dont have to look older than their current look

Thanks, Duran Man and Thanks Hawkingbird!!

Im definitely stoked to see these four guys on screen together! Reading McKellen's thoughts on returning got me real excited because of his sheer enthusiasm! Im glad to see his excited to be returning but also that he wants to Top Fassbender, performance wise!

Im more excited to see these four onscreen then Wolverine or any other surprises we have waiting for us..

It can't be TOO far in the future if we want to believe Magneto and Xavier aren't walking corpses...which is why I'm wondering if it'll be set directly after Wolverine or in an alternate universe.

The Wolverine could easily be in "2008" or so and Days of future in 2014.

Taking into account X3 could have been between 2004-2006.

This looks amazing. That is some excellent work. Could you do one set in the future. that is if your taking requests. I love it looks amazing
I didn't realise how much I've missed Ian mckellen and Patrick Stewart. They're castings were truly inspired and I love the chemistry between the two. can't wait for X-Men Days of Future Past
