Paul Dano is Edward Nashton aka "The Riddler"

My audience was pretty quiet and restrained. The one moment I remember there being any cheering is when Gordon was revealed to still be alive. That was it, really.

K that explains it. Trust me you’d remember if it was.

I forget what cameras Reeves is shooting on for The Batman?
I'm no genius when it comes to camera types; all I know is that some movies and TV shows look way better than others, largely in part due to the tricks they employ with their cinematography style, but anyways:

Off topic, but I just read everyone TDK screening experiences above and wanted to share mine too. ^^

I saw TDK the day it was released and that was a pretty special day.
First, I had driven to the theater for the morning opening. We were only four attending the movie. This gave me the opportunity to speak with someone from the management and to get, for free, the gigantic 180x150cm poster of the film that was troning in the lobby. The one with the Joker, from the back, walking down the street. I still have it on display in my office to this day.
Anyway, when I got home at noon, my mother and my sister offered to watch the movie with them, knowing how much a fan I am. So I saw the film a second time this afternoon, right after lunch.
No bull**** . When the movie ended and we were on our way to the car, I turned my phone on and, while I was getting earlier texts from my friends, I saw them in the lobby. They knew I would have already seen the movie earlier that day, no matter what, because it was no secret I couldn't wait for it. But they wanted to ask if I was okay to, eventually, watching it a second time that same day with them, having finally decided to go for the late afternoon screening...

And so, I saw that movie three times on opening day. By the night, I practically knew it by heart already. :hehe:

...Oh and I saw it two more times weeks later...

I am so ready to live something like this again with The Batman. Bring it on !

Midnight screenings are something else. Haven't done many. Hell, I think the recent one that comes to mind for me was Watchmen. Yeah, it's late at night and you'd probably rather be in bed, but I think at a midnight screening, there's this extra sense of anticipation that keeps you running on energy reserves or something. As if to say 'Yeah, I'm tired...but I can stay up for a few more hours to see this movie, even though I could've seen it at 8 pm and be in bed by now.'

Have a new theory that the "if you are justice, please do not lie, what is the price for your blind eye?" riddle is a prerecorded message left for a corrupt official who is trapped in a Riddler trap and the riddle indicates they must gouge out their eyes to escape...

I wonder how far they can push this Riddler being John Doe without him just being John Doe.

I'm not super worried about it, but I do hope he has the emotional backing to fully power these riddles and antics. If he is just killing and murdering with a riddle and some moral questioning then you can get a Jigsaw/John Doe mesh that doesn't hit right or feel fresh.

I do believe in Reeves' pen and Dano's abilities enough to think we'll get that though.

Are there any recent pictures of Dano (or at least during filming)? Does he have his customary long, unkempt hair?

I have a kneejerk negative reaction to Riddler subjecting people to Jigsaw-style traps even though that isn't terribly detached from your classic trap-happy Nygma.
It's definitely comic accurate though, what's your issue with it?

I don’t remember any comics where Riddler is that psychopathic.
In Dark Knight Dark City he puts a ping pong ball in a babies throat to force batman to cut it's throat in the effort to trick Batman into performing the actions of a demonic ritual.

Here he is forcing a man to solve a puzzle to prevent himself from being crushed to death.

What comics are you reading?

I can keep going by the way... in Earth One he kills a ton of innocent civilians who fail to solve his riddles merely to disguise his assassination plot against singular individuals in the elevator/subway etc.

I haven't read Dark Knight Dark City, but what you describe there is a bit much for me, tbh.

My favorite versions of The Riddler are the weaselly informant in Leob/Sale's universe and Paul Dini's reformed PI Riddler. We're obviously not getting that though and I'm looking forward to Zodiac Killer Riddler.

Oh, he's definitely killed in comics before, I just don't think of Riddler as a blood and guts freak.
