The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Paul Giamatti IS Rhino - Part 1

What would have been so wrong with this.

A happy medium instead of Rhino Transformer.

once paul giamatti was cast, this design went out the door.

the only way to have a humanoid shape would be to make rhino small; approximately the size of giamatti himself, and no one would be happy with that.

paul was cast ages ago, so complaining about it now is silly.

If you think about it, we have that one shot in the trailer, and the poster with him on fours. He's only been teased so far. We have yet to see all of him.

But personally, I like what we're able to see so far.

I like it too. He has a 'horn' and gets on all fours. So yeah, I'd say he resembles a Rhino just fine. Looks imposing too.

He's like a GIANT, MALICIOUS Canopener... but in a good way! :woot: :hrt:

It wasn't the route I was expecting: IN FACT, a member here awhile back in the forum drew a picture of Giamatti in a oversized robotic suit like this months ago, and as much as I appreciated the design, I told him that Webb would NEVER go that route for Rhino. I was incorrect. :oldrazz:

He looks like a real threat. For such a big character, a good acting name, and so far an imposing danger to Spiderman and the REST of New York, I hope his character won't be downplayed. I know his role will be small, but I hope it's a significant role that will affect the way Webb's story progresses. And it will be nice that he's signed on for a third film too! :hubba

That ALL being said, he's my selling point for this movie next to Chris Cooper as Norman. I can't wait to see more of him! And who knows! His arms have stars on his shoulder which indicates Russian origins: Perhaps at one point of the film as punishment possibly stealing/defacing Oscorp possession, they get a hold of him after his final confrontation, and begin to perform cross species genetics: Rhino-Human hybrid. Connors is a Lizard, Max Dillon's abilities and transfiguration derives from electric eels, I say why not!?!?

I can see the end credits scroll now: *Norman's voice after his Goblin transformation* "We have plans for you, Peter Parker..." *cue the Oscorp numbered doors opening sequence to reveal 5 members of the Sinister 6 coming out* *Fades out, to be concluded to next specified date* :cwink:

The Rhino suit is fantastic based on what we've seen. People are so closed to a mech suit because it reminds them of Transformers. Sigh.

What better character to showcase during a Super Bowl spot than one they've only shown 2 seconds of footage of. I think they've been waiting for the Super Bowl spot from the beginning of marketing. .

If people are going to call Rhino a transformer, I wonder what they will call the sentinels in DOFP? Vacuum cleaners perhaps?

At least a Dyson is a premium vacuum cleaner. If they were calling them Dirt Devil's or something, then we could be worried. Chin up guys!

Yeah, like Jamie Foxx said, just see the movie and try not to pre-judge. I think the Rhino we're getting will be pretty cool. And if it does suck, they can always change the design for TASM3.

So basically Jamie said "Ignore the trailer and images you've seen and just give me your $11.50". I mean, I'm gonna go see it even though I dislike the Rhino costume(mostly b/c it looks cheap, not Transformer-y) but Jamie asking people not to pre-judge isn't cool. If movies cost $4 again, maybe.

No, you're missing the point. Its okay to speculate and make certain judgments, but don't go into the movie saying, "man, I already know this sucks." The idea here is to just keep an open mind.

I don't see anything wrong with Rhino's armor, but from what I understand the appearance is going to be very short, so very little harm could be done.

Gotcha

The suit looks like it was welded together by Bill&Ted. It's hard to be impressed by that after we've gotten to see Tony Stark's hall of armor. I wouldn't be surprised if the thing was fueled by coal.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to look kind of "cheap".

The shot of Rhino from the trailer is like 100 times better than the still of him on that very first poster. Now all we need is to see him in action, i.e charging down the street at Spidey or crashing thru cars. I have a feeling I'm really gonna enjoy the design even more and how he moves and everything. Looking forward to seeing action shots in the next trailer.

Agree with all of this.

Yeah, sort of a last-minute prototype sort of thing. I think his Rhino suit will look different in TASM3.

In terms of the CGI, it doesn't look done to me. I'm guessing it'll look way more refined in the final cut.

Oh yeah, the CGI still needs some tightening up, but that trailer came out a month ago (feels like yesterday though), so it will probably look better for trailer #2 and then either in March or April. In terms of design though, I'm very happy with it.

Since Aleksei builds his suit and it looks cheap, I think that once he joins the Sinister Six, Oscorp will give him a better suit that could look more akin to ultimate rhino's design.

It does feel like yesterday. Heck, it's about to be 2 months since that trailer! Jesus.

It should. It probably will. But with any movie that has this many CGI shots, by the time the final cut is released there will be a spectrum. Some CGI will be mind blowing, i.e. finding out the entire HS fight from ASM was all CGI, to most falling into the average or believable range and then finally there will be some shots that don't quite feel up to par, i.e. some shots of the Lizard from ASM.

Yeah I'd totally expect that too in terms of quality. TS sequence I'm looking forward to.
