Someone has died and he worries about the franchise image

Ricard Medina of Wild Force and Power Ranger Samurai fatally stabs roommate.

This would be the first time a Power Ranger actor has been convicted of murder.

There was an extra awhile back named Sky Deleon that the media thought was a power ranger who killed two people

Haven't posted in quite some time, but I had to respond:

Sky DeLeon was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in 2008 and sentenced to death. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20234728,00.html

Rick Medina has been indicted for first-degree murder and is yet to stand trial. Unless he pleads guilty at his arraignment (which, in my opinion, is unlikely), then he goes through the same legal channels DeLeon did.

I don't condone what has allegedly taken place, but to condemn someone before they've had their day in court is inexcusable.

Yeah, I remember there being articles titled "Mighty Morphin Murderin Ranger".

For awhile it was thought that Deleon was the kid that played Roger in the episode "Second Chance", but was confirmed not to be him a few years ago.

I remember the news stuff about that extra and now a shame an actual ex ranger did a fatal crime.

Since he used a sword,I can just imagine the media joking about him using a power ranger weapon and since he was a"wild force"ranger they might use that for him possibly being crazy and wild in real life.

Well the thing is his roommate and him got into a fight. Dekker and his girlfriend went into Dekker room and locked the door to get away from the roommate. The roommate broke the door down and came after Dekker which in turn Dekker stab him when he was coming after him. So if I were him I would claim self defense.

Also the fact that it's him who called the police, so far (before hearing the details) it does not appear like he was trying to cover up what he did / what happened.

Just right now media emphasizing murder indictment makes the biggest headline/click-bait.

Tragic either way.

LOL, for better or worse he has become possibly the most recognizable face of the franchise.
But yeah that comment(concern) seems somewhat out of sync with the severity of the situation.

And then he decides to speak out again

ATTN: To all the people who are saying " Bad for the Brand" has NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY!!! I said bad for the brand meaning KIDS..... One ranger Falls we all do.. Ive worked to hard to be a ranger and be a Positive role model!! Its NOT bout me it about being a super Hero.. Im sorry Self defense?? If I had to protect myself it would of been a fist NOT a sword.. Unless the guy had a Gun or a weapon.. I can't say what happen but I will say this... GROW up and get off my page... Just not gonna sit back and waste my time with Keyboard warriors!!!

Well he has a point there^, it is bad for the franchise and any kids who now may associate it with murder.
But again what it's really bad for is the guy stabbed to death! So by comparison his first concern, if you go by these snippets he let out, comes off just a bit skewed in perspective.
I'm sure there's more too it, and him than that though.

As for him using Fists not Swords, again he has a point, and that's great he feels he can do that in any situation, I don't know if he knows the entire story yet though, so that may be a pretty brazen call. How threatened or vulnerable did the guy & woman perceive themselves to be as the guy supposedly broke the door in etc..., that among many more things will be a factor.

Austin St. John puts in his 2 cents on this scandal.

Like you said, since we don't know all the actual details, we don't know how necessary the weapon was for protection. It's easy for JDF to say that he would defend himself with his fists, considering he's a trained martial artist and even has actual MMA fight experience... And oh yeah, he wasn't there, so he doesn't know what was going on.

I've been in fights in my life, and I wrestled for years and even coached as an adult for a while, so I am capable of defending myself against an individual assailant more often than not, but if someone comes into my house and my wife is threatened, I don't care if the person is armed or not, I will do whatever it takes to stop that person, "brand" be damned.

So does JDF speak for Power Rangers as a whole now?

It was a bit insensitive to the matter at hand & just another opportunity to gloat & generate a little attention & publicity for himself since he is so loyal to the great brand of Power Rangers & all, like it did so many great things for his own career.:whatever:

No charges filed. DA requests more investigation:

http://abc7.com/502465/

LOS ANGELES (KABC) --
No charges will be filed on Tuesday against former Power Ranger, Ricardo Medina Jr., and the district attorney has requested further investigation from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Medina, 36, is expected to be released from the Palmdale Sheriff's Station.

Friends say the actor fatally stabbed his roommate, 38-year-old Joshua Sutter, in self-defense at their Green Valley home in the 38000 block of San Francisquito Canyon Road on Saturday afternoon.

Good Morning America spoke a bit about this

It's probably the best reported one out there at the moment. Other media outlets are all over the place.

I keep receiving message about my former co-star, Ricardo, and am obviously very saddened by this news... mercy...

And another Time Force Red Ranger from two days ago, more sympathetic, no scandal, so of course no coverage -

Although harsh ... a sword!:wow:, everything reported looks like he retreated and it might be self defense...
If that's the case; and he was actually protecting himself and someone else, In the end the one who may end up giving the worst rep. to the "franchise" as he put it, may end up being JDF himself, who instantly just assumed the worst about his fellow x-Ranger.

When you consider which source originally broke this story *ahem*TMZ*, it's reassuring to know someone can cut past the BS.

Matt Austin(Bridge, Green Ranger of SPD) had some stuff to say on his twitter about the incident as well

: Former 'Power Rangers' actor arrested after roommate fatally stabbed with sword http://www.cp24.com/entertainment-n...roommate-fatally-stabbed-with-sword-1.2216124 …" Like Shaggy said #itwasntme
You are a real hero @ASJAustin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1et66ta1pw …

This power ranger news is awful and it's completely unsettling how some of the former cast are using it as a promotional opp. Have respect

Last I'll say on the subject after seeing a latest post. There's only one former PR actor who's bad for the franchise, and it's not Ricardo.
