No it was ignorant, if you knew anything about artists you'd know this, everyone starts somewhere including Drew Struzan, fan art is the beginning of that expression, your contempt for the fan is ignorant.

it's not contempt at all...id like to think i have an understanding that happens to be a blunt as all hell

Being blunt is just an excuse to be rude about young artists or amateur artists work, as if somehow being paid for work automatically makes it better or more professional in your eyes, given you have shown on more than one occasion a love of class system.

Paid or not paid has nothing to do with the quality of the work, surely you realize this.

No, you aren't supposed to feel bad, the fact it makes you feel superior and more important, and the fact you think it is the seal of approval on quality is just ignorant, the whole bolded statement is also ignorant, there are a lot of people with good jobs, I dare say better than yours, who dabble in art in their spare time and can create posters far better than some of the goons that get paid by studios.
