Prometheus - Part 4

So do we only see Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) in the 2023 scene?

Because if I'm not mistaken, the rest of the movie takes place about sixty years after that?

Scott has said he'll be in the film, but refused to say in what respect.

I'm thinking Weyland is still very much alive with his brain in an android body somehow.

In regards to Weyland this is what some members have found in the trailer:

I think People might have already guessed what Weyland's part is .....

In the background, Peter Weyland 83 years wearing an advanced SE suit with cadium exo-skeleton with one of his aides holding his walking stick.

"A king has his reign. Then he dies. It's inevitable."
So we have a dying egomaniac tycoon who proclamed himself a god on board of a mission to meet actual "gods" who mastered life itself. What if the king refuses the inevitable, finds a way to become immortal by stealing God's knowledge?

Its just a theory of course but judging by what we have seen and heard so far could be true :cwink:

It's a wonderful ship. The artbook for this will really be extrodinary and I can't wait to see if Ridley mentions using some of the great concept work he had leftover from Alien and how he applied it to this movie.

Rob Cobb and HR Giger did incredible work for Alien so I can see Scott wanting to use some of the material that was left on the table.

Yea this is one of those movies were i'd love an art book. Maybe they'll have stuff like that with a special edition blu-ray/dvd or something.

The more I watch this, the more I start to think we're going to see some kind of alien gods/creators.

Was this ever posted?

It's on the trailer description on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHcHYisZFLU

"In the distant future, two superpowers control Earth and fight each other for all the solar system's natural resources. When one side dispatches a team to a distant planet to terraform it for human colonization, the team discovers an indigenous race of bio-mechanoid killers."

I love the four engine setup and despite her size, she looks like she'd handle like a breeze.

Dunno how reliable that is, but if true, I'd imagine the two superpowers are Weyland and Yutani. Before the merger.

Interesting that the jockeys would be described as "bio-mechanoid killers," though.

Is an art book confirmed? I can't wait to see the ship on the bigscreen, that feeling of epic scale doesn't come along that often.

I think so. Amazon & a couple other sites have it listed.
"Amazon.com has revealed an upcoming art-book for Prometheus. The book, named Prometheus: The Art of the Film, will be available from June 5th, 2012 and comes in both standard (hardback in slipcase, $34.95) & limited (hardback with dust jacket, $75) editions. You can also pre-order the standard edition at Barnes&Noble or Forbidden Planet at a price of $19.75 and £19.99 (RRP £24.99) respectively."
A worthwhile buy it seems as it contains 192 pages. Should have a ton of awesome art I hope and more concept art of that great ship and skylines. :wow:

Definitely getting that book when it comes out.

That one guy looks like an American Tom Hardy.

I am pumped for this. Love the ancient astronauts angle of the story.

The trailer is amazing- it has more atmosphere in it than a whole volume of H.P. Lovecraft stories. I love the design of everything.

The only slight downer for me is that it has the clean appearance and attractive cast of all modern films. It makes it seem a bit less real that the Alien movie of the 70s.

Still, this looks like movie of the year for me.

1. where does the movie look clean. its a different ship compared to the first movie. the locations are all dirty.
2. modern actors? Noomi is the main character. she is in Sarah Connor shape. ;)
if you mean Charlize. its business. for such an expensive movie you need at least 2 attractive known actors. Charlize and Fass.

I don't mean that the designs are 'clean' per se, but that the cleanliness and richness of the picture in modern movies seems innately 'super-ordinary' to me. It's subjective, but to me films look too picture-perfect to represent reality, now.

I agree with and understand your second point, but I would probably include Noomi and Idris in the 'attractive' group. They are all polished and groomed to look their best, anyway. Compare the to the crew from 'Alien'; apart from Ripley, there was no one that either gender could really manage to have a crush on.

Anyway, this is an incredibly minor niggle- the movie looks fantastic, and makes TDKR seem very ordinary.

Exactly. Instead of people like Ian Holm, John Hurt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton or a Yaphet Kotto (who had what you could possibly call a more average 'everyman/woman' appearance) nowadays you get people like Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender and Guy Pearce who (while unboubdedly being just as talented) are shall we say, alot prettier.

You just dont tend to see leads with double chins or bent noses anymore. No 'real' people. Those actors are usually kept for the supporting roles. I suppose its always been that way, I just dont think its been to the extent that it is nowadays.

In Danny Boyles Sunshine he had the cast wear no make up which is unique in films.

I get what you guys are saying But the cast in Alien were supposed to be blue collar truckers though. It makes sense that they are a bit rougher round the edges. Same for the Nostromo itself.

The cast in this are different. Theron's character is an executive at the Weyland Corps, it makes sense that she'd be well groomed and looking good, considering she's probably got a very comfortable lifestyle. Some of the other characters look a bit "rougher". I imagine they are security/military that have come along as a precaution.
