Duncan Jones has been on a one man mission to bring back intelligent Sci Fi movies which isn't surprising considering his from the loins of Ziggy Stardust :)

I think Alex Proyas is also one of the few that goes for "proper" sci fi. I thought Knowing was great, really underrated. One of the most intelligent sci fi films i've seen for a while.

I can't wait to see what kinds of weapons they'll be packing.

I doubt anything special. I don't think Scott will be focusing on weapons or if this will be a shoot em up action film.

The question is, do I see this in 3D or not?

God. Just take my money, Ridley.

I'm gonna see it in 2-D. Not once has 3-D added to my enjoyment of a film and I would rather sit there in the theater and take in all Prometheus has to offer without messing with those awful glasses.

It's shot in 3D so I say go and see this in 3D. I know I will! :woot:

I'm watching this in 3D as well. It was filmed in it and I for one really enjoyed Avatar's 3D which I reckon will be similar to Prometheus seeing as both of them were actually shot in 3D.

I usually skip 3D, but like Avatar, this is one of the few that was actually filmed in 3D and intended all along to be 3D, so I'll probably see the 3D this time.

It'll be 2D all the way for me.

Because I can't see the effect at all. If I try, I get a bad headache, eyes feel like they'll explode, and I feel sick afterward. Bring on the 2D. : D

I can't see without my glasses so having to put glasses on top of my own glasses is a massive pain in the ass. 2D for me

So: "Synapse Reestablisher."

From the Weyland Timeline on the viral site:

Synapse Reestablisher

Weyland Industries earns patent number 18,364,003 for Method and Apparatus for device able to temporarily restart brain activity of deceased individuals.

....anyone think this means the SJ is (are) dead, and they use this gizmo to reanimate him....?

ZOMG ZOMBIE ALIENS

I can't wait to see what kinds of weapons they'll be packing.

The trailer has shown the old standby flamethrowers in action; but the Weyland Timeline on the viral site also has an interesting snippet:

THE WEYLAND STORM RIFLE
Weyland Industries introduces first rifle able to track targets from over 500 klicks away, as well as determine target’s health, physique and whether they can be locked down.

haha wow, that is one hell of a sniper rifle.

Weren't the "smart guns" in Aliens like, homing/auto lock on guns or something?

Looking at some of the Weyland Industries achievements I don't know who to be scared more of

OCP from Robocop

Weyland Industries

Ya dude love and I were talking about the smart gun and power loader patents when that part of the site went live and all the atmosphere processing stuff. Lastly the hints of Fury 161 and Yutani suing Weyland real cool stuff.

I'd watch this movie in 3D as well, if I can. I thought Avatar was exceptional in 3D and I won't mind a repeat of that experience, particularly since Prometheus is shot with 3D in mind, and not post-converted like COTT did.

I think that not knowing how Earth looks like in the Alien films, adds something good to the atmosphere of the franchise.
Sometimes the imagination works best.

Same problem for me, I'll be checking it out in 2D for sure.

when they are inside its very dark. sometimes the only lightsource are their lights on the suit. imagine adding 10-20% darker glasses on top.depends which technology the theater is using. it will be hard to see when they are inside the dark coridors.

if you are not 100% sure watch it first in 2D. the next time you can watch it in 3D. its a movie that you wath 2 times.

then why are they explaining the space jockey? it was one of the biggest SCIFI mistery from the last 30 years. the biggest scifi mistery. so?:cwink:

what SHH users need to understand is that its over. its no problem being hyped for this movie. but leaving something to the imagination was over the second we started being hyped for this movie.

Scott said they are touching up the darker scenes in post for the 3D. Says something about it on the wiki page i think. The shadows are actually done with CGI or something like that.

This is some concept art by Ron Cobb from the first Alien movie. This exact imagery wasn't ever used for Alien but it looks like Ridley finally got to use it (with blue tones) in Prometheus.
