Prometheus - Part 5

Yeah, that makes sense to me. I just couldn't see humans creating any life forms outside of androids.

So the theory is Prometheus crashes into the Space Jockey's ship?

I noticed in the TV spot someone/thing rising out of the fissure on the planet.

The WonderCon/IMAX trailer now in 1080p

She doesn't puke it up...
She uses the automated surgical bay to remove it. In the international trailer, during the scene where Shaw is stumbling down the hallway you can clearly see there is a freshly stapled surgical wound across her belly. They digitally toned the scene down significantly for the domestic trailer.

You win the internet. I completely missed that when watching the international trailer. Guess that settles how it is birth'd.

Something else I noticed in the Extended International trailer you can see the space slug thing going into the Space Jockeys suit. It looks like his suit is tore at the arm and the thing slithers in there. There is even a slithering sound. Its at time stamp 2:05 if anyone would like to check it out.

Have to say I'm disappointed with the revamped design of the Space Jockey. The one in Alien looks substantially creepier - and not just because it's a fossilized corpse.

It's not revamped, you can see it sitting in the chair in the trailer looking as it did in Alien. My theory is that the more elephantine appearance is a bio mechanical suit he wears.

Someone already posted a comparison in the last version of this thread. The design of the Space Jockey suit has been tweaked a little from Alien - most notably the trunk.

I don't see quite where the wound is....

But there is a lot of fresh blood, you're right. Man the domestic trailer desaturated that stuff so much it really does look like mud. :funny:

There's quite a lot of blood along her lower belly, which is exactly where the surgeons cut for a Caesarian section.

It won't let me convert it to 1080P or hit the button for it. Hmmm. Anyone else have this problem?
I was having that same issue.

I was able to fix it by going to full screen at 480 and then changing it to 1080 once it's at fullscreen.

EDIT:
Never mind. I tried it again just now and it only went up to 720p. Darn thing is broke. Yea, what Kane advised is the best step.

The Jockey in ALIEN is dead and mummified ('fosislised' is the incorrect term), of course it'll look different to a living being. That, and they're very likely different Jockeys, so there'll be variation.

I've figured out why Holloway's eye was leaking: They don't need eyes to see where they're going.

CoughSamNeilCough.

I'm a bit confused about something does the world of prometheus take place in some alternate universe or our universe in the future?

Watching this clip the technological stuff this character talks about that occurred in the first 10 years of the 21st century and apparently there being life like androids in the year 2023 only a little more than a decade from now. Makes me a bit confused.

Its set in the Alien universe, which is itself set in our future. The whole Android thing can be chalked up to Weyland being essentially the Da Vinci of his time.

Yeah, I thought the biosuit had already entered into established Prometheus lore by now. Pretty sure there's a scene or two in the trailers showing the suit (i.e., the one we saw in the original Alien) wrapping around a Jockey like Tony Stark's armor.

Ridley Scott On Prometheus
Talks Space Jockey and ratings
http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=33510
"[I've wanted to revisit it for] years! Years, years, years," he stresses, of Alien's space traveller subplot. "I always wondered when they did [Aliens] 2,3 and 4 why they hadn't touched upon that, instead of evolving into some other fantastic story. They missed the biggest question of them all: who's the big guy? And where were they going? And with what? Why that cargo? There's all kinds of questions."

Another question for Scott is the film's rating. He hints that the violence may have been toned-down enough to facilitate a PG-13 rating, but intriguingly suggests that the impact will match the R-grade shocks of Alien and Aliens. "The question is, do you go for the PG-13, [which] financially makes quite a difference, or do you go for what it should be, which is R? Essentially, it's kinda R."

"It's not just about the blood, it's about ideas that are very stressful. I'm not an idiot, but I'll do everything I can to get the most aggressive film I can."

Eh, I'm pretty much already accepting that this is gonna be PG-13.

Considering we didn't have a 14 year old Weyla nd receiving medical tents in 2004 nor any 20 year old running multinational bio-tech/aeronautic firms, I think its safe that this is squarely in another universe, the most significant force of change from our time line being the existence of Weyland himself.
