How reminiscent is the beginning of "Life" to the beginning of Goldsmith's Star Trek theme?

From the trailer, I thought maybe the thing David pulled out of the cone was an embryonic Facehugger or something, but clearly not.

Every snippet I see of this raises more questions.

Yea the great thing with this marketing campaign is that even though we've seen some shocking images and little details, the big picture and how it all fits together is still a complete mystery. With the amazing viral videos, it's one of the best marketing campaigns i've seen.

Got my tickets to the midnight premiere on May 31st. :woot::up:

LOL, you lucky people across the pond. I gotta wait till June 8th, and I hope our theater does a midnight of it.

The last track of the score has me so excited. It's just...ah, my mind is going crazy. Ultimate tease.

I'm listening to the score right now and its so good! Its going to be very atmospheric and spooky in the theater...UGH!!! the wait is KILLING me. I can't wait until June 8th. Definitely my most anticipated film of the summer, bar none!

Am I the one already finding this movie to be incredible quotable?
"Cut it off!! Cut it off!!"
"If we don't stop it, there won't be a home to go back to!"
"DIE!!!!"
Awesome lines and good delivery

I still think the SJ created the xenomorphs using the humans.

Those across the pond are terrible, terrible people. :o :oldrazz:

I don't want to wait until the 8th to see Prometheus! :csad:

No spoilers!!! Or I'll kill you all! :argh:

Am I the only one that isn't ready for Prometheus?

I get scared too easily. :o

Are those titles in the chronological order they are heard in the movie?

Meaning "Birth" would be at the end?

If so, I suspect that'll be the death of the Space Jockey and the birth of a xenomorph as we know them.

Can I say something- I love the first two Alien movies, but I've noticed a trend in the AvP movies and the books and comics that I will term "xeno-*******"- I don't think the aliens are really a threat of any kind to any well trained and well armed military. In the first two movies, they were a threat to the characters, and that was all they needed to be. The first movie had one xenomorph against unarmed space truckers- and in Aliens, the Marines killed way more of them then the Aliens killed them They were mowing them down left and right, and it was only due to plot contrivances and incompetence that they didn't massacre the xenos.

I remember Ash called the Alien indestructible, and there was Ripley's rant about how if the Aliens got to Earth, everything would be gone, but that was just in-universe hyperbole. Take them off a ship, and they're really terrible weapons. I can understand the Company wanting to study them to learn more about them and build on what they already have. But the idea of th

Its like the makers of everything past Aliens couldn't accept that the Aliens were only a threat to the characters in the film and had to wank them out to make them a threat to all of humanity. Jason Voorhees doesn't need to be able to kill a whole town or state, just the characters in the movie(speaking of which, there was a Wildstorm F13 comic that had a squad of soldiers pouring bullets in him and he shrugged them off and instantly healed so he could kill them all. The above rant applies here).

I really really hope that if the Space Jockeys are out to kill us, its not them dropping their new weapon, the xenomorphs on us. I will be a little annoyed.

because you could stop an Xenomorph from killing you.

That's all the Xenomorphs do. They kill.

Considering the last Space Jockey apparently died by giving birth to a xenomorph, I'm not sure the xenomorphs come into being intentionally.

I suspect the SP impregnates Shaw, who gives birth to the squid monster, which impregnates/infects others, and somehow the SP himself ends up getting impregnated and through the creatures "borrowing" the DNA of their hosts, a xenomorph ends up bursting out of the SP.

Yes, you can stop them. You shoot them. Did you not read the part where I pointed out they were getting mowed down by the Marines and it was only plot contrivances and Gorman's incompetence that stopped them from wiping them out?

I'm just saying the threat they represent is overstated in later material.

I think it's their sheer numbers in Aliens that is the problem. The Marines can mow them down like grass, but there are loads more of them than Marines. They also initially take the Marines by surprise and take out half of them in an ambush. Then you start running low on ammo.

I saw that. Yes. I'm a huge fan of the Alien series. I know they're not invincible.

What Ripley meant was that they were unbeatable in the sense that an Xenomorph infestation would be too hard to stop from spreading.

Not necessarily. They take some time to gestate.

It depends how fast the government/authorities realized WTF was going on, which I assume would be a while. You don't expect some spider/crab thing to jump on someone's face and plant a baby inside that's gonna come exploding out of their rib cage.

Then say somebody gets impregnated in one community and travels to another before he gives birth. The baby scurries away and hides and no one can find it until it grows and maybe lays eggs of its own...

Things could get messy.

Not sure it would wipe out the Earth though.
