It needed to do one of two things. Either associate yourself more with Alien or just don't be part of the franchise at all. They tried for this middle ground that I don't think worked at all.

In my opinion all they had to do is write a good story, all we got now is a bunch of people go on a expedition to find alien intelligence, find it, get infected and die. Oh one escapes, and she will find their home planet. Yeah yawn.

It's a shame really because the whole reasoning behind RS going back to do this film was how mysterious/interesting the whole SJ angle was. From the looks of it and from some of the reviews on here it would appear SJ got shafted and it was more about pretty visuals and leave it to the imagination type writing. If that's the case DL was just lazy or was too intimidated by the project because it appears he dropped the ball.

Still going to see this either way, but it's a shame they didn't flesh out SJ more. As a kid it was the most interesting scene in Alien for me... at least the one that had captured my imagination the most.

There are still so many questions unanswered. And this movie even adds a bunch more.

Who are the engineers?
Why did David infect the crew? What was he hoping to accomplish with that experiment?
Why did those 2 idiots get lost and not ask the ship for directions?
If aliens are bio weapons, why didn't the engineers have fail-saves?
Lets get real with the story here, aliens arent that bright, sure they are super hunters but that about sums it up.
Why are the engineers planning to cleans earth?
Why did the engineer at the start terminate himself?
Why was the engineer at the end so aggressive towards the crew?
How can a woman have a Caesarean and still run around all drugged up and be 100% right of mind?
Why would you stockpile a biological weapon you don't seem to have a defence against?
Why was the alien ship at the start saucer shaped?
Why didn't anyone ask David what the hieroglyph meant? Or ask him to stop pushing ****e?
When David was at the alien control deck, the holograms showed 4 engineers who were about to go to cryosleep, why did only 1 survive?
Ok I can go on forever...better stop.

Answers for some below...PLUS a spoiler for the sequels ;)

A higher race of beings.

He was basically doing a biology test, or that's how he would defend it. Expendable crew, the lifeform is more important.

Accidents happen, all the time lol.

Then plan to cleanse earth because of my next answer/theory

I think he was left as an outcast, perhaps for a crime. He took a version of cyanide and while dying his DNA carried on to create humans. These engineers now view humans as his direct defendants so must wipe them out. Mark my words lol. Come Prometheus 2 and 3 this will be shown.

See above

She was drugged up, wound sealed by laser so no profuse bleeding, then stapled up and more drugs..and she sold the injury for the rest of the film.

Why do humans make so many nukes? Who knows what else they are fighting.

Why not? Aerodynamic.

Yeah ill agree with that as well. The story is pretty average. I know a lot of people will say ah you just don't understand or if you don't like thinking movies go watch TF. I completely understand this movie and its really not all that deep or philosphical like its writers or fans want it to be.

I like that the movie is a picture into a larger world within in the same universe as Alien but what bothers me is the questions they left unanswered feels more like a presumption that there'll be sequels to wrap things up. Get the stuff what you intended to explore in the movie in case things doesn't turn out the way you wanted.

Also this one thing been bothering me ever since I've watched the movie, so let me get this right so I know I'm not off-track.

The black goo, I'm just trying to get a grip on how exactly is it possible for it to affect different organics it comes in contact with. Was it because when David opens the room the vases were contained in the temperature was changing thus changing the substance's effect? Because first we have the self-ritual sacrifice of the Engineer in the opening scene (at least that's how I interpreted the scene) when he drank a lot of the substance and it disintegrate his body, second it could transforms the little worms into snake-like creatures as we saw, third we have Fifield who got acid from said creature on his helmet and face and then fell into the black goo head which in turns him into a some kind of a zombified super-powered creature. Fourth we have Holloway who got infected a tiny bit which one was infected the same way and had intercourse the mutated sperm will impregnate what's essentially, the predecessor of a facehugger, also he was slowly dying which I wondered, if he didn't die would he be turned out like Fifield?

Insightful interviews with Director Ridley Scott, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and writer Damon Lindelof.

Ridley Scott said:
I'm remaking Blade Runner, right now. [...] And I think it's gonna be a sequel.

**** me, first time I hear the man himself confirm it's underway.

So hyped I could cry, right now.

Saw it yesterday and enjoyed it - as per review above it's pretty stunning visually. Fassbender performance is also truly excellent, he's fast becoming one of my favourite contemporary actors. Film does have it's flaws but I wasn't expecting a masterpiece; as a fan of Scott, horror and sci-fi I wasn't disappointed.

I'm hoping to see Prometheus this week. Looking forward to it quite a bit.

100% agree I got a thousand more questions to add to this!

This is pretty great.

I'm going to head to a midnight Thursday showing, but I must avoid this thread for the next 3 days. ;)

Devin Farci's review on Bad Ass Digest was not good. I hate that because I agree with him a lot. Here's hoping this is one of those many times in which I disagree. Hell, I disagreed with a big part of his Huntsman review so maybe this will be one of those times. Either way, cold water has been thrown on my excitement.

Collider has a new imax poster for Prometheus, and their article says they will be handed out to people at imax midnight showings across the US. I think it looks great. Here's a link to the article because I don't really know how to post it here myself. http://collider.com/prometheus-imax-poster/170455/

I can't wait to see it. Hurry up already weekend.

That link from Badassdigest still doesn't say who made it, but theres a name of sorts in the bottom right.

The best bit of advice I can give someone who is about to watch Prometheus is totally disassociate this movie with Alien and I guarantee your enjoyment of the movie will be better. I was expecting answers to a movie (Alien) that has next to nothing to do with this movie.

I just wanna know two things before going in.

Does it have a scene as shocking and unexpected as the chest burster scene?

Does the last 12 minutes tie it into Alien like Ridley Scott said it would?

No spoilers please. Simple yes or no will do. Thanks.:)

I'm going to say not really to both.
