I got around to watching Alien and Aliens I liked Alien but I feel like I have already seen the movie because the pardoys and just stuff its influenced.

Aliens I thought was also awesome and people have probaly said this but a lot stuff in Aliens must have been ideas Cameron had for Avatar.

I just wanna know two things before going in.

Does it have a scene as shocking and unexpected as the chest burster scene?

Does the last 12 minutes tie it into Alien like Ridley Scott said it would?

No spoilers please. Simple yes or no will do. Thanks.:)

First question : There is a "cringeworthy" scene, but not shocking like the chestburster scene from Alien. Then again, I think if Alien was released today, most audiences would go "Cooooooool" at the chestburster scene, but wouldn't be shocked by it.

Second question : The last 12 minutes tie into Alien but not in terms of setting up the stage for it. They tie into it on a more physiological/mythological level, if that makes any sense.

There's a couple of scenes that stand out but nothing as "Shocking" as the Chestbuster scene.

Kind of, but It does not lead directly into Alien as Scott as been on record as saying that the events of Alien are 2 films away.

If you watch Prometheus as its own thing and don't try and see it as a Alien prequel your more likely to enjoy it more.

If you want to watch Prometheus because you think its a prequel to Alien or going to be like Alien you may be disappointed.

I think one the problems with prequels in general is we know where many elements of the story are going so there is a lack of real jeopardy.
We know the Space Jockeys/Engineers are not going to destroy Earth in Prometheus or any possible Prometheus sequels as Earth is still around 4 movies later in Alien Resurrection.

The Engineers could destroy some human colonies and shaw could still die though.

It seemed like there were scenes that should of been in the movie to explain

Why no one said anything after Shaw attacked and escaped from 2 crew members, when she is to be put into quarantine. Then after "baby" incident. Not a single word is uttered about any of that?

Janek rushing into Shaws quarters and telling her what the planet/creatures are for. When did he learn all of that? It didn't feel like it was just a theory Janek came up with and if it was a line or two in the movie from janek about having a miliatry background and possibly seeing some weapons testings sites in the military might of made more sense as to why he might think that.

Was that necessary, since you came up with that theory on your own (and so did I, and perhaps so did everybody else...)?

Not everything has to be spoonfed to the audience, the guy clearly seems to know what he is talking about, so either he's right and probably has a military background that had him face such situations, or he's dead wrong and then it doesn't matter anymore.

I must say that I was very dissapointed with the film. My expectations were very big, but the movie was just not good. I prefer Alien: Resurrection over Prometheus, for god sake! This is how much I did not like the movie.

My issues with Prometheus is not because it's nothing like Alien, I feel like it's too busy trying to be more than it could handled and then there wasn't enough willingness to really see those through. Then there's the themes being halfheartedly explored and the sequel-baiting, and upon further contemplating, I feel that there's an emptiness lying at the film's core that's hidden beneath the pretty visuals, which it's a shame since it could've be much, much better. With that said I still think it's a quite good film and it's bold and refreshing for a blockbuster movie to be like this.

1st question: No, but it could have been a yes had Fox not ****ed the scene out in basically every trailer.

2nd question: No.

A few people from across the pond told me about the story, characters, visuals/SFX and CGI, Sci-Fi/Horror scenes and the dialogue without spoiling too much. And according to them, the story (while it ventures into familiar terrority) is far better than people are giving credit for:

Prometheus has more substance than The Avengers and its not as messy as The Grey but, apparently, the story gets lost in trying to be original while retaining aspects from another franchise. No stable identity is found for Prometheus.

Okay, someone answer this please.

Is the Xenemorph in this film?

This is true, but I'd argue that wouldn't be hard.

The story is good, but very busy. It never really stops in its frenetic pace and go in depth on anything.

I didn't see the film yet but i think most are trying to aproach it as a scy-fy movie of its oun, i just have to ask, is it good? or in least worth the hype? Does anybody think that Ridley's planed sequel may expand on the original film? Or was everything worth exploring already explored in Prometheus 1?

And to add to the questions, is Premetheus good enough to stand itself as another franchise? Good enough to have more movies, or tie in materials?

I think its very good.

There is definetly room to expand.

Prometheus opens up the Alien Universe. I clever screenwriter could find many new places to take the story and expand on things.

Surprisingly, this is the identical response (criticisms) that Black Hawk Down and Kingdom of Heaven received during their tenures. Since then though, critics have revisited their opinions (upon multiple viewings throughout the years). Perhaps Prometheus will follow that same trend.

Watched Alien and Aliens again and it's left me hungry to see Prometheus again. Day 1 blu ray purchase.

My advice is forget this is even part of the Alien franchise.
