Oh come on, Christian Bale would've kicked that role's ass.

Its a different planet and the AVP movies are not cannon for Ridley Scott only the other Alien only movies.

The stuff in prometheus contradicts the AVP stuff even if it was considered cannon.
Good, i like the AVP expanded universe material, but the films left a lot to be desired, it's still interesting to note that Predators and Prometheus both tried to distance themselves from AVP, however both made it clear that there were more aliens than the main ones from their respective franchises.

The film was entertaining enough, but keep Lindelof the hell away from the sequel.

Yeah, but Sean Harris doesn't remind me of Bale at all.

Actually, if I could have cast it, I would have LOVED Elba as Charlie Holloway. It would have made Charlie a [BLACKOUT]worthwhile character[/BLACKOUT].

Yeah, but Sean Harris doesn't remind me of Bale at all.
Oh, I don't mean as an actor overall, but in the movie, there were definite shades of Bale with his mannerisms.

Sean Harris actually a good actor although he most plays shady types like murders, corrupt cop, drug dealers, war criminals, ect.

I think Harris did well with what he got. He didn't have much to do in the movie to be fair.

Sean Harris attended the Drama Centre, London as did Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy and Colin Firth as well as many other actors.

Its funny that all the actors who go there say its not a great Drama/Acting School yet alot of the actors out of there have been pretty successful

I haven't seen it yet (9 hours and counting for me!) but from the look of most reviews being positive over all I think Lindelof should come back for the sequel but perhaps Ridley should also have a second writer to work with Lindelof?

The mutations created by the Space Jockey's experiments weren't

I'm pretty sure the xenomorphs are mutations created by the space jockeys experiments. The final scene was there to confirm that.

I like this quote from a review:

'The plot of this Alien prequel was a carefully guarded secret -- so carefully guarded, in fact, that not even the movie reveals it.'

lmao.

Yup, but the other mutations weren't

I don't want Damon Lindelof back as writer if there is a Prometheus 2.

I'm not even sure I want Ridley back.

Alien and Blade Runner are two of my favorite films of all time. But ever since then, Ridley has been riding the line of mediocrity. I was a fool to think he'd have changed his ways with Prometheus.

Yup, but the other mutations weren't

You're right, but to be fair they can't be considered a different alien, which is what you said. I guess those worms actually could be though. I might be wrong, but I think the ooze is just the first stage in the alien's lifecycle. Alien already established that the xenomorph passes through various stages: Egg>facehugger>chest burster I think Prometheus is establishing the stages that occur before the egg.

Asked about 10x now lol..

Was the theme used in the trailer in the film? I heard cues but not the full thing.

Is the
Protoxeno in the film the same design as that conehead alien in the art of book?

Similar but dark coloured. It has a snout with pointy teeth and a secondary upper jaw that protrudes from the roof of its mouth.

Went to bed thinking about this movie and now waking up thinking about. This was a great movie and I hope I see it again soon.

I am up for a sequel to Prometheus. The movie satisfied me overall.

Me too, I wonder how they could continue the franchise and tease more of the Alien looks we've come to know and love.

Yeah, i did say they were new aliens, my bad :oldrazz:
I don't think the ooze is a pre-egg stage, i believe it's some experiment that messes with DNA,
being injected inside Holloway made him begin to mutate, he was killed before he completelly mutated but his mutated sperm impregnated Elizabeth, so it must have morphed into a different creature during the process, a creatura that impregnated the space jockey with a new being, which seems to be some kind of early species of Xenomorph.

This may sound strange but i'm guessing this must have been an early stage of the facehugger:

As this was an early stage of the Xenomorph
Prometheusxeno.jpg
I guess that the space jockeys must have done some more experiments with him, but all of these theories go to hell because of this thing that was in the ship:
23+Prometheus+xenomorph.jpg
Which means they have already made xenomorphs, which leads me to think that the oil was the Aliens DNA, which is basically what you said about it being a stage before the egg :woot:
Unless the Xenomorphs are created when it comes in contact with a certain creature. I hope they eventually explain this.

I wonder where the story would go in the sequel

would we see David and Shaw go to the Engineer homeworld?

Would we see Weyland company come looking for the missing Prometheus ship?

I've been having some further thoughts on the film and have a theory about the Space Jockeys and their motives .....

The film isn't called 'Prometheus' for no reason.

The original Greek fable of Prometheus tells the following :

His actioned angered the Gods, who sent Pandora as punishment. We've all heard the term 'Pandora's box', but it was actually jars in the original story.

I think the story in the film is a sci-fi analogy of the original Prometheus tale, with some changes.

My theory is that the first engineer - the one we see creating life on Earth after his body dissolves and spreads his DNA - did so against the wishes of the other engineers he was with. They may have been experimenting with genetic and DNA for military or war purposes, whereas he wanted to create life and use it for good ................... who knows. But for whatever reason, his actions were a strict breach of what their rules were - just like the original greek Prometheus went against the wishes of the Gods.

In turn, once the engineers learnt that life on Earth was developing, they themselves set about to develop a weapon which would extinguish that life. This was again, typically, based in genetics and may have involved further trips to Earth - hence why Earth was the central planet in the 3D star map that David looked at. They created this black liquid/goo which, depending on what it interacts with, can mutate or even kill anything it touches. And just like the original Pandora jar in the greek story, this goo was stored in vials/jars.

But the engineers, like Pandora, realised that what they were developing was too dangerous and could be out of their control. So they tried to shut the jar but it was too late, and something was already on the loose. And that in effect is what we saw depicted in the hologram re-enactment, where the engineers are trying to escape from something.

The symbols written in the caves on Earth weren't invitations, but warnings to stay away.

Just some thoughts :)

my thoughts exactly

saw this last night in IMAX 3D and have to say this movie is beautifully shot.
Three of us saw the movie. I liked it but then I kept myself spoiler free. One friend didn't like it because he felt it contradicted the Alien movies. The other friend didn't know it was a prequel to Alien.
As I said before I enjoyed the movie.
There were two faults in logic that I had though.....
......
why play with the Alien-snake-penis?
and when running from a falling space ship...dont run the way its falling run to the side

other than that I enjoyed the movie and hope to see a sequel.
