I'm expecting this to be very OBVIOUS in it's tone/look/feel to Alien, even down to the ship/eggs ect, i just don't think it will have any strong story ties to the other films outside of the actual aliens and the same space regions they explore.

I think Ridley has made that pretty clear to be honest, so i'm not sure why a prequel needs to be connected to the original series in every way possible for it to actually be a prequel. It can follow it's own story while still keeping the same style. which is pretty much what they're doing.

Yeah because Apes and X-Men turned out so badly for them. Go away until you have constructive things to say please.
Apes made money. X-men didnt. the only reason its in the development is because they need to make x-men movies for the rights.

this is an alien prequel. accept it.

I never freaken denied it. What is the matter with you?

Also is there any fact to back up X-Men not making money or are you talking poop?

the ''accept it'' was for everyone. i didnt want to make a new post.

dude love calm down. everything is ok. Scott is still making movies(no original movie since 2009 ). after an alien preqeul he will do a Blade Runner sequel. and after that a Legend sequel. maybe he will reboot Legend

I don't think anyone is complaining about it being a prequel. I'm more confused right now, than annoyed.

Nic Cage in your avvy looks more confused but is trying to hide it with humoring understanding. Epic.

I think the connective tissue lies in the "evolution". There's supposedly a new creature in the film. And it's quite possible that its story ends with it becoming the "perfect, living organism." The last 8 minutes will turn into an Alien film, but it'll be organic to the plot.

I like the idea that the movie will feature a new creature and then we get the traditional Xenomorph for the last eight minutes. Hopefully we get some design art or something soon.

It's a story that takes place in the Alien universe and before the first Alien film.

I wonder if there will be a Blade Runner reference

Blade Runner
Alien
Prometheus

Welcome to Ridley Scott's world

I think my head would explode with anything that might tie these movies together in the same universe.

We came really close with a synthetic human(Not necessarily a replicant) and a xenomorph in the alien trilogy

In the Alien director's cut commentary Ridley Scott refers to Ash as being "a replicant, basically".

hahah Fox and Scott are really scared of the word ''prequel''. funny very funny.

Charlize Theron interview in Vogue magazine
Though she’s better known for taking risks with smaller films, Theron will soon be seen in a series of big popcorn movies. In June comes Prometheus, from director Ridley Scott, its plot shielded in secrecy but rumored to share DNA with Scott’s iconic Alien. “What can I say that won’t get me into trouble?” Theron asks.

She offers a joke teaser. “Dogs. In. Space.

“I’ll tell you this,” she says. “It’s not a prequel to Alien. Everyone thinks it’s a prequel, but it’s not. It’s a stand-alone movie.”
:awesome:

ah, I was hoping for news on the trailer.

trailers realesed this and last week are for the Twilight movie. Prometheus doesnt need this.

expect a trailer in december with big budget movies.

I said I'm hoping for news on when we will see a trailer. How is this related to twilight?

Fox seems to be following the Avatar advertising model with Prometheus; Avatar was released in December 2009, and the first teaser wasn't released until August, so as Prometheus doesn't come out until June 2012, personally I'd expect the first teaser around February (possibly in front of Star Wars: Episode 1 3D, since they're both prequels to beloved sci-fi stories and it would help drum up attendance if they stuck the new teaser for Prometheus in front of the 13-year-old sucky-ass SW prequel). We may get a Super Bowl TV Spot that same month as well...

Could be, I wouldn't mind them waiting until it gets closer to the release date but Avatar was a rare jem that I don't can be pulled again but I hope i'm wrong.

That's what it looks like in the leaked pics anyway.

Again, someone says this is a prequel.
Another person says it's not a prequel.
Another person says it's in the same universe.
Another person says it's a stand-alone movie.
Someone once said this is a sequel to Harry and the Hendersons.
Another person said this movie is made with organic bananas.

What the hell is this movie.

It's a movie you must watch, end of story. :argh:
