World Rank the Spider-Man movies

Well not having a few dance numbers will automatically put it above SM3 in my opinion.

as of right now, even the miserably second Ghost Rider film is well above any Spidey dance numbers... :whatever:

I can't stand those Ghost Rider movies, and I'd say I like SM3 even more than those two films put together.

let's just agree that the Ghost Rider films and SM3 are all really bad films, whatever faults they all may have and to whatever degrees of fault they are... s**t is s**t, regardless of how bad they all smell... :woot:

I can usually pop in Spider-Man 3 and watch the fight scenes out of context. Heck, it makes one hell of a drinking game. :funny:

1. Spider-man 2 - 9/10
2. Spider-man - 8/10
3. The Amazing Spider-man - 6/10
4. The Amazing Spider-man 2 - 5/10
5. Spider-man 3 - 4/10

At last, someone else who appreciates Spidey 3!

Spidey 3 is not about Venom or the Sandman, but Peter's hubris and corruption. His fall and redemption. Venom is there simply to illustrate what Peter would have become. It's a great movie.

I appreciate Spidey 3, when it was released in cinemas, I saw it twice on opening day and then again the next day! It was actually my favourite one.
Over the years though when I watch the films back to back, 3 just doesn't hold up like it used to. I had a Spidey movie marathon last week (leading up to TAS-M2), and my ranking in this thread is based on the recent marathon (",) That's not to say I don't like Spidey 3, I do, it's just not as good as the others, in my honest opinion.

Fair enough.

For me, Spider-Man 2 is still the best of all five Spidey films, but Spidey 3 is the most entertaining. There is so much action and incident, so many characters and plots and subplots, drama and betrayals, moments of absurd comedy...I love watching it. I too saw it multiple times in the cinema. The first time I took a girl on a date, and she kept making jokes in my ear throughout - that was the last time I went out with her! The second time I saw it with a friend who was more appreciative, and when it finished, we just looked at each other and went, "Whoa."

I love Garfield's Spider man much more than Tobey's and that is the main reason why I enjoyed the new movie much more. Plus I felt like Tobey and Kirsten had zero chemistry and all they did was stare at each other wondering why they aren't together. Spider Man 2 has by far the best villain story though and fight scenes and that is what carries it for me.

There are definitely a strengths and weaknesses to both franchises though and I think having a better Peter + Love interest relationship and having a better Spider Man trumps having a more coherent story and developed villains with lack of personality for Spidey.

Indeed

Not really. Eddie Brock was a bag of ***** before he got the symbiote. He became a murderer after he wore the symbiote. Peter was a good guy, so the symbiote made him more prickish but not necessarily evil.

Maybe it would have corrupted him enough, but we wouldn't know.

Before seeing TASM2...

1. Spider-Man 2 - 9/10 (My favorite Marvel film)
2. Spider-Man - 8/10 (Though it's campy, it's VERY enjoyable)
3. The Amazing Spider-Man - 7.5/10 (Andrew is the best Spidey IMO, but the movie itself could have been better)
4. Spider-Man 3 - 4.5/10 (The writing, dialogue and villains got on my nerves)

First time I've thought to grade all the films together. Upon reflection, here is my list as it stands today:

1.Amazing Spider-Man 1 - I loved the focus on Peter and Gwen's blossoming romance, handled infinitely better than the previous trilogy IMO. I liked the Uncle Ben relationship more than in SM1. Andrew's awkwardness was also more relatable to me than Tobey's. Although the Lizard had unfulfilled potential with the family aspect, I do love the scene where Curt creates a second arm through a reflection. The battle in the school felt like it came straight from the pages of an early Ultimate Spider-Man comic, major love for that scene and the score.
2. Amazing Spider-Man 2 - [BLACKOUT]Gwen's death was perhaps the most powerful scene in any Spidey movie, no other moment has affected me in such a manner.[/BLACKOUT] Peter and Gwen were great again, Peter's battle with guilt and responsibility was most evident in this film IMO. I loved the dynamic with Harry and Peter, shame there wasn't more of it! The 'you're my boy' scene is the best Aunt May scene in any Spidey movie. However, I didn't care for the Rhino or Electro, if this movie just had Harry, it could have been my runaway favourite. The slow-mo swinging scenes are gorgeous.
3.Spider-Man 1 - The original, perhaps the catalyst of Spidey fandom for me. Dafoe was incredible and Tobey was at his best in this one IMO. Still not sure how I feel about the robber falling to his death as Peter watches. Biggest point of personal criticism? = MJ's love interests in the film: Flash (a popular jerk/bully); Harry (a rich jerk), Spider-Man (a popular, masked sex symbol swinging around New York) and then Peter...its only 1 film! The Green Goblin is my favourite Spidey villain in the comics which is why this narrowly beats SM2.
4. Spider-Man 2 - I LOVE Doc Ock, he carried the movie but I never rooted for/nor believed Tobey's romance with Kirsten Dunce, especially in this film. Always felt sorry for John Jameson in this film, MJ was terrible towards him. WHY didn't Peter just set the record straight with Harry when he found out?! Its not that hard to explain rather than a rather *****ey "there are bigger things going on than you and me" - WHAT?! Your best friend believes you killed his father and this is how you respond?!
5. Spider-Man 3 - I simply can't watch it anymore. I stopped at MJ singing last time I tried, its too much a cringefest for me. Retcon or not, make Sandman the only villain. I thought he was the best thing about the movie.

As I think about it, Peter's personal relationships (family, friends, romantic) are what influenced my ratings the most. Numbers 2-4 could easily switch around they are that close together for me.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Spider-Man 3 had plenty of flaws, but it still had some of Raimi's brilliance and well Directed scenes. I have yet to watch the new film, going today, but up until now, even with the trailers of the new film, i feel like Raimi was also better with spectacle, sure, there were times where you could tell Spidey was CGI, but on the whole, the effects and scale were impressive, while the new one seems a bit too "plastic" to me.

Sandman was a good choice for the villain, the effects in him were quite good.

That's exactly it. The symbiote corrupts Peter. Eddie is corrupt already. Peter manages to get rid of it before it turns him into 'something nasty' (as Aunt May says) while Eddie goes with it.
