I gave it a four out of ten.

Four for these words:
"I'll get drive thru"

This movie sucked. Call it a lighter Batman movie or whatever but it sucked even to me when I was a kid and I was 11 when it came out I believe. I just remember wondering what happened. Val Kilmer was a wooden Bruce Wayne. I'll never forget that HORRIBLE "I'm Batman!" scene at the circus. Are you kidding me? Or "I have got to get you out of those clothes." So lamely delivered. He may have looked the part but he was sleep walking through the part if you ask me.

And Chase Meridian was just gross. Trying to ****e herself out to Batman at every turn like that was not appealing IMO as a Bat Girlfriend and she had no real chemistry with Bruce either. She was most interesting when she was trying to get it on with Bats, sadly, even when she was putting people's lives in danger to tongue him down but then she gets him all the way to her house and tells him she wants Bruce. Again, lame.

And Robin sucked. And I know Alfred let Vicki Vale into the Bat cave in 1989 but it seems as the series progressed the Bat cave security just got worse and worse! By Batman and Robin Alfred was just saying ***** it and making suits for people he suspected would break in the Batcave (his lame explanation for Batgirl).

Riddler was way over the top. I got the feeling after Joker every person wanted to turn in a Bat villain performance like Nicholson. The problem is Nicholson is the Joker. Riddler can be somewhat over the top but Two Face laughing and hamming it up? NO NO NO!

And the bright Gotham City, the LAME plot for the villains and the Batmobile driving up the wall all added to the suckiness of the movie. O and all the closeups of Batman's ass and crotch and his nipples too.

This movie is at BEST a 5 IMO but I really don't like it and I already explained why it gets a 4, lol

I still can't believe people are lightening up about Batman Forever, while Nolan still gets crap for Begins.

This movie is a 2 for me. One for each nipple on the human form.

I gave it a four. 1 for each of Batman's nipples and 1 for each of Robin's. :woot:

Yeah I don't get how people give Batman Begins hell but are giving Batman Forever props. This movie blew.

In the Batman franchise, it was the second coming of Christ!
I always joke that B89 was the virgin birth, Returns was the middle part, Forever was the betrayal, B&R was the crucifixion and Begins was the resurrection:woot:

I really do see Batman Forever and did as a kid when it came out as a cop out. It was trying so hard to be fun that it just kind of lost a lot IMO. I mean Two Face looked like he had gak on his face...the character is horribly disfigured and they made it so unspooky. I always hear Schumacher shouting "It's a cartoon!" when I see certain parts of the film. I know he only said this during the Batman and Robin double disc set that he shouted that as direction (and it shows) but Batman Forever was cartoony too. "You sunk my battleship!!!" "Holy Rusted Metal Batman!!" *shudders*

This movie was horrible. As some has stated though, IF the script would've been written well, Val Kilmer could've been a good Batman and Jim Carrey would've been a good Riddler. I give it a 4, even though that may be pushing it too high. Still, it was way better than Batman and Robin, which I give a 0...that one was just unwatchable.

I'd give it a 7/10 because I loved it when it first came out. I never liked it as much as the first 2, but it was lite and campy and something easy to watch with lots of bright colors and was something my 9 year old self could really get into.

Did anyone else enjoy Elliot Goldenthal opening theme for Batman Forever?

I think the opening was one of my biggest highlights for Batman Forever, until the " I'll get drive thru " line. :csad:

I liked the Elliot Goldenthal music.

Hey, can you imagine if Sam Raimi had directed "Batman Forever"? He did lobby for it, but lost out because, as directors go, he had no "star power" then.

I gave it an 8. It was my favorite Batman film before Begins. It wasn't as campy as Batman & Robin but it was still fun to watch. I thought Val Kilmer was great as Batman.

He would have been pretty good actually. :yay:

But he was pretty much destined to make the Spider-Man Trilogy.

I rate it 6/10 which isn't bad considering I rate BATMAN, Batman Returns & Batman Begins all 8/10. I liked the way it provided closure for Bruce/Batman and I liked some of the production design in a pulpy kind of way but I really wasn't digging the way the villains were handled.

True + Touche = Trouche.

Funny thing is, some people who are "tired of the BB hype" were originally apart of it going full bore. In order to stand out and just be different, some are trashing it now. When in reality, it's about tied with B89 as the best Batman film of all-time.

I don't trash it. I simply notice and can admit it's (slight) flaws. Hell, it is probably a better film than B89. That said, to me personally, B89 is just about perfect, and I'll always prefer it over pretty much everything.

I don't think you - and most people - get it yet; it's not BB me (and others) have a problem with, it's BB fans. As I said in my previous post, it's one thing to love BB, it's another to demean and insult all outlets of Batman that haven't been touched by Christopher Nolan.

No, bro ... YOU don't get it yet. It's that when these people have a problem with the obsessive fans ... deal with them (the individual fans), don't take it out on the movie in a petty way to play tit for tat in order to get them riled up. A idiot deserves to be called an idiot when he messes up. Sometimes people are on edge and think by praising BEGINS, that one is conversely putting down the other films ... or vice a versa. Which isn't always the case. Sometimes they are talking about them on their own individual merits.

I know a movie has flaws, but when punks start literally making stuff up to put down the best Batman film to date, you know things are messed up with you guys. It's always like that with everything. Something gets too popular and too big a following, and people don't feel comfortable just liking something with a whole bunch of people ... so they begin to trash it in order to be different. It happens in topics with everything. Movies, Sports, Music, Fashion, etc. It's pathetic.

Most of the people who make stuff up are pretty universally thought of as trolls. El Payeso admits it himself, everyone hates Spider-Bat, etc.

But there's still some people who are actually rational about it. Batattack, Shadowbat69, and those are the people I was talking about.

I don't think Batattack is rational, but meh. Its funny cause he used to be on the band-wagon as well if I remember correctly. Shadowbat69 has always been cool, though. My theory is his objections have more to do with him being stuck in 1989 time. Seeing as that may have been a great time in his life, haha, and he refises to give it up and when one says BB is better than B89 he'd be prone to get defensive. I know he bought all the merchandise and got into it, so he couldn't totally not like BEGINS.

I personally grew UP with B89. That is the first movie I ever watched in a theatre, it cemented me as a fan of the mythos, and I've seen it countless times. I was raised on it, yet I would never go out of my way to put down something else I feel threatned by which might be better than something I LOVE. To be honest, I love them both. But like I said, if these people have issues with the FANS, deal with them individually, why put down an INCREDIBLE movie for the sake of feeling threatned?

I just find it funny, cause I was HERE when some of these people putting down BEGINS were riding its jock. People had issues with the original movies plenty before BEGINS came out. But now, because people liked BEGINS, yet still bring up the over-whelming down points to the previous franchise ... all of a sudden certain groups of people get defensive when they do this. As if you said "they liked BEGINS, so they're putting down the rest" which isn't the case, cause people had these issues with the movies well before BEGINS was even in its conception stage.

It's all just rather ridiculous, no? These people getting upset about BB's hype and fans, is all brought on themselves. They are taking it personally because the new kid on the block is getting all the fame.

Batman Forever's actually a pretty good movie and a good Batman film. I keep wondering how it could've turned out if there wasn't so much camp.

I loved it. I just loved the style of it. Nicole Kidman was HOT.
The Batsuit was cool, very slick and of course the Batmobile was very cool too. I hope a director's cut is release one day. I give it a 9 out of 10.

My position has always been pretty simple.

Before BB came out, I loved the script. I still do. By far, without question, the absolute best script Batman's ever had for a live action film. The large, winding plot, the epic nature of the story, the comic accuracy...this script has things that simply no other Batman movie ever came close to having.

That said, when the movie actually came out, I was a bit disappointed. It certainly wasn't bad or anything. I thought it was great. But, at the same time, it just didn't seem to fully deliver the greatness I had read in the script. Took me a little while to realize it, but, eventually, I realized what it was that was wrong (IMO, at least); the direction itself.

The script was great, the acting was perfectly solid - even great - but whether it be the cinematography or the set pieces, despite the epic scale of the script, BB the movie felt...small. Close up, and lacking grandeur. It seems - to me - rather than embracing the epic and iconic aspects of the script, Nolan downplayed them. Made them as subtle - both visually and thematically - as possible. Instead of showing wide, large shots of expensive hotels, he decided to focus on a single dining table. Stuff like that.

That's what my - really only - problem with the film is. It's nit-picky, I know, considering how good BB is anyway, but it still lowers my enjoyment of the film just enough so that I decidedly prefer B89 over it.

i think that i have a better time watching BF then B89 because ive seen B89 so many times that its not the same as BF which i havent seen quite as much.

I've probably seen B89 over a 1000 times. And every time I watch it again I think "Damn, this is better than I remember."
