Justice League Real Talk - Where does the DCEU go from here? - Part 2

Figuring out what they want to do with Superman would be my first priority.

Weren't they reported to have been working on a MoS sequel since august last year?

they should have something cooking by now unless it was all fabricated

I just want my supes to shine without a CGI moustache

hold me guys

I think they wanted to see how the crowds reacted to him in JL first. Luckily for them, he was one of the positives in that movie.

I believe he'll get his sequel. They may pad the movie by incorporating another JL member, but it will be a Superman movie nonetheless.

Matthew Vaughn said he had discussions with WB about a Superman movie, so it was on the table for a time. Who knows where it stands now?

Unless someone wants to risk things trying to resuscitate the Cavil Superman I'm not sure any established name would want to take that task on?

You make it sound like Flash is such a hard character to nail down. He’s not, at all. “A young forensic scientist is struck by lightning to become the fastest man alive.” Just let Geoff Johns write a classic origin story if you can’t find anyone else. It’s that simple. The problem is that they keep trying to find superstar directors to present radically unique, TDK-worthy takes on these characters. But if they focused on just making good stories, like Wonder Woman, then they’ll be able, eventually, to tell great stories with them.

And yet, nothing I've said is untrue. Its not that Flash is unadaptable, its that WB seems to somehow be utterly unable to adapt him. A straight-forward heroic origin movie could work, but in the world we live in, WB has gained and lost multiple directors, with the movie going nowhere. So, I stick with my prediction, nothing Flash will happen until after the DCEU is solidly back on its feet. And the movie will be an entirely new project unconnected to the prior efforts.

When X-men was in the toilet after X3, Vaughn made (in my opinion) the best ever X-men movie with First Class. WB/DC could do a lot worse.

Yes, he did. He knows how to manage teams, too, while Singer does not. He'd be great for MoS2 and/or Justice League 2 (preferably that one). I thought Bayona was close to inking the deal for the follow-up to MoS2. Are they still doing the back-and-forth?

I’d imagine Vaughn would have quite a lot of negotiating clout right now, if he wants to do it.

I just had an great idea. Everyone is saying stay or reboot, how about do both. There is a variant, if you will, of rebooting; soft reboot.

Here's what you do: any DCEU movie set in present day, is set five years after JL (or Aquaman). Anything can happen in five years, from growth to overall changes to people, places, and things, technology even. By doing that, you can have a new set of rules and setups now than you did with the previous movies. For example: Cavill is still Superman, but he's grown, more villains exist, Metropolis can look like the City of Tomorrow it always said it is, etc.

That is a great idea that serves both sides. Right?

I hope people would be able to follow this. I love the actors (except affleck). I dont want a full reboot, but im not sure if the general public will follow and understand the story.

Joe Public general audience member:

“Hey! There’s a new Superman movie coming out!

...aw ****, it’s the same guy again. Those other films he’s in sucked. Pass.”

Repeat across the country/world.

That would really help if it happened. Jenkins, Reeves, Wan and Vaughn would be a solid team.

As long as it looks good, you're fine to see people wanting to see it.

And keep the budget reasonable. Another Cavill Superman movie won't likely blow the doors off, but it could lead to bigger and better things while turning a tidy profit.

So here's something we really haven't discussed yet, and that's the AT&T merger. If that goes through, and they clean house over at Warner Bros. studios, what implications will that have towards the DCEU films in the immediate future?

For example, Matt Reeves may not get started on pre-production for The Batman until after the merger. Suppose the new management comes in, sees what he's doing, isn't on-board with it, and cuts him loose. Is Matt Reeves really safe at this point?

Hahahahahahaha Matt Reeves will be safe. WB on the other hand, will not be. Right now, the only reasons I still have a smidgen of hope for the DCEU are because of James Wan, Patty Jenkins, David F. Sandberg and Matt Reeves.

Fixed.

People know he didn't direct any of those movies. If the new movie is good and has a good WOM people will see it.

If they got a new Directer to direct a new TF movie instead of Bay and it turned out to be a great movie(with raving reviews) I bet people would just get excited and give it another chance. They wouldn't just turn around and say "Oh it's the same Optimus Prime and Bubblebee.,...Pass".

Keyword being 'a good movie' or it won't matter. People won't look at the new actor and assume the movie's going to be good aspecially if it's released by the same studio.

Yup. The demand for these characters is there. It's just the toxicity that's associated with Zack Snyder. And no, I don't mean there's bias. I just mean they're used to expecting movies they probably won't like from him.

Releasing the first trailer by having Henry's Superman unleashed and creating a creative narrative around his abilities and hyping the sh^&5 out of the action with a heart pounding new score would be all that is needed. By then, nobody will even be thinking about all of this JL stuff anyway.
