Sequels Recasting the X-Men for the MCU

I'm not necessarily the best when it comes to casting but my crack at it would be:

Main Cast:
Cyclops: Richard Madden
Jean Grey: Dakota Johnson
Storm: Kiki Layne
Beast: CGI and voiced by Jeffrey Wright (loved this suggestion a few pages back and now I won't take anything else)
Rogue: Lily Collins
Gambit: Jack Falahee
Wolverine: Charlie Weber
Professor: I have absolutely no clue because Stewart is going to be hard to top.

I could see going a little bit older for Storm with Yetide Badaki. I don't know, I always saw her, Hank and Wolvie as more of older team members compared to the rest. Not significantly older but more mature for sure.

I guess I'll try my hand at this again with an All-New cast. Just to mix things up from my usual selections.

How old does Jubilee have to be? Because I want an older Jubilee played by Jihae - when she was in Mortal Engines, if you dyed her red coat yellow, she would be Jubilee, for sure. This is not probably even remotely likely, but I still love the idea.

Jubilee has to be a young kid. The character was introduced at the inexperienced age of 13 with the Intention of taking the "Kitty Pryde" role as the Junior-in-training member of the X-Men

For Jubilee, Marvel should take a page out of what they're doing for the "Piper" character in Eternals and cast an actual kid in the role. Ditto for Kitty Pryde

Twenties is way too old for Jubilee, she was barely in her teens when she was introduced in the comics and the animated series. I'd say 15-16 at best if she were in this new movie.

I feel Gambit and Wolverine will be hardest to cast, hopefully it's a surprise and Wolverine's a short, tough man. :p

Whoever gets cast, I hope they plan to explore suffering and disability with characters like Rogue (whose touch can be mortal) and Cyclops (who can't take off his lenses) and Professor X (who can't walk) but also other really interesting characters they can transform like Angel (who loses his wings) and later on Hellion (who loses his hands).

Would also love to see Cypher the translator of New Mutants make an appearance somewhere.

Damn. Does that also mean YaYa Dacosta can’t play Storm? I don’t remember YaYa’s exact age, but I feel like she’s in her thirties.

she can pass for far younger though

^ to piggy back on what you said, i'd like to see some Morlocks, or at least hints at that other side of the spectrum. those who can't hide their powers, or whose powers put them into hiding. a character like Marrow, who couldn't hide her powers, and whose powers actually caused her near constant pain would be a great perspective to show the other side

A lot of names here that I don't recognize, mostly due it being a list with several young actors. I do like pretty much all of the suggestions where I know the actor. Jeffrey Wright as Trask is a particularly good idea. Nick Robinson is my favourite for Scott right after Ansel Elgort. And while I only recognize Ellie Bamber from her small role in Nocturnal Animals, she seemed like a solid actress and I wouldn't mind her getting at least a shot at the part of Jean.

Only one I slightly disagree with is Duhamel as Christopher Summers. I have nothing against him as an actor but I do remember reading someone decribe him as a "less talented and charismatic version of Timothy Olyphant" and kind of agreeing. And now I can't help but think that Olyphant might fit the part better.

Wright as Trask would be perfect. His performance in Westworld (and Hunger Games) really sold me on the idea of him portraying a morally grey Trask who truly believes he is saving mankind by creating the Sentinels for the Government-Ross. Making him more than the one-dimensional character he usually is in the comics.

Nick Robinson (along with Elgort, one of my favorites as well) is a popular choice for Scott and for good reason. His performance in Love Simon was great (for the repressed emotional side). But he was straight up Scott Summers in 5th Wave as the leader of Squad 53. Plus he has the height and the voice. He's a really good choice. Him, Ansel Elgort, Harris Dickinson and Lucas Hedges are my top 4 choices for Scott.

Bamber is a relatively unknown actress but the little we saw of her in Nocturnal Animals was really good and she's great in Les Miserables as well. She's got a couple of indie drama films coming up with her as the lead (one of which she won an award for her performance) and she's got a firm background in Theatrical arts. She won a Charleston award for her performance in classical play "Lady in the Sea".

The idea of Duhamel as Corsair comes from him playing Nick Robinson's dad in Love Simon. But his history with the Transformers movies as Lennox makes him a pretty good choice imo. But I could see Olyphant in the role as well, he's certainly a much more well-rounded actor. He'd have to appear in Scott's flashback to set up Starjammers.

Regarding the child actors, Judah Lewis was one of the Spider-Man finalists that made it to the final shortlist before it was narrowed down to Rowe, Holland and Lintz. I could see Marvel revisiting some of those actors for certain members of the X-Men, particularly Iceman. (Maybe Asa Butterfield as Kurt Wagner too and Charlie Plummer as Alex Summers) Lewis seems pretty talented going by 'Summer of '84" it's easy to see why Marvel/Feige liked him as much as they did.

right! Marrow is a must. I can already see the initial Morlock hatred for the pretty upworlders!!

Plus Beast and his human love interest? That’s good stuff. The Morlocks, the mutant-lovers, the Purifiers, friends of humanity, the brotherhood, the X-men, etc. All different viewpoints on how to deal with mutantkind.

And then there’s that really shocking student suicide scene in whedons astonishing X-men. That one hits home a bit.

Yes. Whedons run on astonishing is one of my favorite arcs period, as well as I’ve mentioned numerous times over the years; operation: zero tolerance

Domnhall Gleeson as Sean Cassidy/Banshee. The guy can act, he's Irish, and he's already known to the GA from the Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises.

Plus if they're casting mainly actors in their mid to late 20s for the majority of the X-Men then Banshee would be a decade older as in the comics.

Love it! He would be a great choice.

What a diverse actor!! I'd never noticed he's the redhead from Ex Machina, Bill Weasely and he's in the new star wars trilogy. Pretty good for a superhero ensemble film.

Assuming they don't go for CGI with Beast, I think Benjamin Walker would make a good Hank McCoy. He's a physically big, talented actor, who could believably play Hank as someone who's both a former football-hero and a scientist. (I didn't like Hoult's stereotypical nerd take on the character. Beast is a jock, a brain and a class-clown, dammit!)

He's early twenties and was one of my picks for Spider-Man, but William Brent/Billy Unger... however you'd like to refer to him... I was thinking Iceman. I haven't seen or heard of him branching out into anything after his DXD series ended back in 2016...

He was initially cast as Hank for First Class (and supposedly fired and then rehired back and then told Fox "No thanks!")

Interesting. I didn't know that. I wonder if he'd be willing to play the role now that Marvel has the rights.

I'd be down to make Banshee one of the founding X-Men and have his daughter Siryn be part of the new recruits. So yeah, Domnhall as Sean, that's some star-power.

Adding X-Men actors means subtracting MCU actors.
There is no way Marvel is going to pay a thousands actors.

^ which is why a recurring X-Men cast can't be as expensive as Brie Larson, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, or Robert Downey Jr. are. It's not a solo act, it's a very crowded ensemble and I hope we eventually get to see a solid team of 15 characters or more.
