Rob Zombie to remake "The Blob".

We've already had a remake of The Blob! Can't this bum come up with an idea that's actually original? This is like the 3rd remake he's done in a row! Try teaming up with the people who did that crappy Friday The 13th remake and do a Jason vs Michael Myers movie or something.

No I agreed with you on the faster moving blob, I love that idea.

I just hate how true it is that Zombies a Hill Billy fanboy.

He could make a movie about Wall Street and still have his wife star in it as a hill billy.

My problem is he does go overboard with the swearing but to be honest most people who write and create characters use their own life plus family and friends as inspiration. You can't fault him for doing what most writers do, although I will admit he should try to venture out and do something more original in the future.

I've been a fairly big Zombie fan since I got into White Zombie back when I was in middle school. A lot of the inspiration behind his hill billy like characters most likely comes from the fact that his parents and grandparents were basically carnies when he was really young.

my problem with Zombie lacks the charm of the movies that he was inspired by.

Great.. as I posted in the Halloween thread I used to have faith in R.Z not anymore though (not after H2).

All we will get here is a lot of people using the F bomb (heck maybe the Blob will use it too).. throw in some 70's like people, maybe some 70's tunes. His wife as an "actor" (2 pay checks are better than one).

Given those comments, I take it your not a Tarentino fan either, eh?

I'm sorry... when the **** did Rob Zombie become everyone's favorite director? I'm asking because it seems like damn near everyone on this board is getting personally offened when people are making jokes/cracks (which are based at least partly in truth) about Zombie's movies. Like, dont get me wrong, I kinda liked his first Halloween and will be seeing H2, but I dont think his other films are all that good and really cant see this movie being worth much of a damn either. Sorry, I just dont.

No, it's that I think it's people being *****e bags and wanting to join the crowd throwing stones.

Right there with ya bud. Personally I didn't like his take on Halloween. Never saw House Of 1000 Corpses, but I saw The Devil's Rejects and thought that was pretty good. I just want to see him try coming up with something new and original. I mean what's next? Rob Zombie's Invasion Of The Body Snatchers? Night Of The Living Dead? The Thing From Outer Space? They Live? I mean come on man! Try doing something that's never been done before!

Yeah, well, look around! "Oh, the Avatar teaser that I saw on my apple computer, when everyone that was raving about it saw it in 3D on the big screen, wasnt 150,000% satisfactory? It must be pure garbage!!" I dont know what it is with the hype (more likely the internet in general) lately, but I'd rather see people make jokes and insult the movie now, and even perhaps change their tune later on, than see people rant and rave before they've seen a ****ing thing, then once they do see something, if it isnt 1000% up to their expectations, completely turn their back on it and label it garbage.

I hope this wasn't geared towards me after my last post about being a fan of his since middle school.

I have been a fan of his since then but he is nowhere near being my favorite director. I liked both House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects and thought his Halloween remake was just alright for the most part. I'm not planning on seeing the sequel in the theatres, going to wait for DVD because I haven't liked everything I've heard about it so far.

I may be a huge fan of his but I'm old and mature enough to not be biased and praise every film he makes. Personally I hope after The Blob remake he tries for something original from his own mind.

In interviews I've read of his over the years, while so many people label him as just a horror fan he really likes westerns and comedies as well. I would like to see him try his hand at one of those possibly. In the recent interview where he talks about The Blob he mentioned he wants to break out of horror and I can't wait.

It wasnt.

I'm sure if this was any other person, none of you people would be pissing and moaning.

I thought the 80s remake was just fine. Gory, disguisting and had a great atmosphere. And it had Erika Eleniak. Zombie making a re-re-make? The whole ting with remakes is starting to get really silly. So now theyre doing remakes of remakes?

i would think the blob would be a mass of people... like "morphing" together with twisted faces and screaming in pain constantly changing shape...

like something in an anime, lol

well, something similar was done in the 80s remake. The blod had mutilated corpses and twisted body parts in it.

Agreed. Believe it or ont, Zombie is a talented director. Not really a fan of House Of 1000 Corpses or Devils Rejects, but his Halloween movies are really good, IMO.

Im mean the guy has only made 4 films really and hasn't done anything outside the slasher like realm of films. I think he could do good monster movie. I'd like to see what he can do with a budget. this film is gonna be about 30 million.

Variety said:
"My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing -- that's the first thing I want to change," Zombie said. "That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now."

[...]

"I'd been looking to break out of the horror genre, and this really is a science fiction movie about a thing from outer space," Zombie said. "I intend to make it scary, and the great thing is I have the freedom once again to take it in any crazy direction I want to."

So I shouldn't expect the Blob to look like a blob...and this will be a "scary" science fiction film...which would make it part of the horror genre-

Okay, I'm just gonna stop. Sorry to those who think this sounds great, but I have to question whether Zombie knows what he's doing. Besides the fact that we already have a remake that sounds exactly like this, I haven't heard good things about his work. Can't we just leave this be and come up with something- I don't know- original?

Rob Zombie coming up with something original is like Niell Blomkamp partnering with Micheal Bay on his next big film, it just won't happen.

Are we really still gonna complain about remakes?

You talk about originality. But yet look at all the posts here. Yours and the rest are remakes of other posts.

No one is forcing you to see something you don't like. Its not like these films will disappear as soon as his film is done. Did it happen with Halloween? No!

How hard is it to understand.

Technically nothing anyone does now days is original Aesop. You could use Blomkamp as an example but it's not like most of his ideas for District 9 were really that original.

When you take in the fact that nothing is original now days(all you can really do is put a different spin on things) then Zombie gets a pass with Devils Rejects, I would say House but that's obviously inspired by Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
