Eternals Rotten Tomatoes watch thread

Lol

seeing stuff like this actually makes me glad about the reviews, it’s almost as if “don’t listen to the reviews and make up your own mind!” Is a concept that they just invented last week
It's because for a long time people were using RT to justify the deification of Feige and the MCU.

I don't think it'll hit 40%. It seems to be edging between 51-52% now. I'd say bottom would be 49%.

Yesterday it was edging between 54-55. I think it’s very likely this thing finishes in the high or mid 40’s.

Look, I'm not going to say the film does or doesn't deserve this rating (I haven't seen it), but I'm floored that this landed a worse score than the likes of Thor: The Dark World and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Those two movies are literally unwatchable to me.

"The MCU hasn't made a bad movie yet," my ass.

You have to watch it to understand why critics are down on it. Personally Black Widow and TDW are the worst MCU films for me and Eternals is above those.

Black Widow was decent/mediocre, but then it just sort of ends. It's an inconsequential movie that was five years too late.

A&TW is aggressively unfunny and terrible.

With 225 reviewers right now it's at 51% approval rate with 5.6/10 average score. If it reaches 400 critics chances of it dropping to 46% are there.

The MCU’s First Negatively Reviewed Film Could Be Eternals

Campea arguing that this is still a positively reviewed movie is funny. Don't think he'd be saying that for a non-MCU movie that has a little over 50% on RT.

He has said for other movies, comicbook and non comicbook.
He saying most critics liked it,so he is not going by rotten or the rules set up by RT all the way.
He going by the majority still likes it and that is true.
Over 50% gave it postive review and most think it's not a bad movie.
He going by raw numbers.
Anything under 50% he would say most critics rated it bad etc..
Here is another vid explaning himself again and more clearly i think.

Technically he's right I guess. I'm looking at audience reactions online and they're not nearly as harsh as the critics'. Sadly, I won't be able to watch it myself until next week.

Since when do people trust audiences? I mean people seem to flip flop on the validity of audience reviews and critic reviews.

I mean, when has that not been the case for a comic book film specifically? More often than not, you'll find audiences and Twitter reactions far more glowing and positive than official reviews from critics.

Ang Lee's Hulk
Superman Returns

I mean, fair enough, but if you've gotta go back that far to 2003 and 2006 to find a comparison, then obviously the argument doesn't hold up with comic book films as of recent.

Most of that 51% of critics who rated it fresh are mixed rather than outright liking it; a lot of the fresh reviews are still very and critical and negative of it as a film and considering it’s literally two percentage points away from being 49% with the possibility of it going down as more bad reviews keep coming I’m not sure the claim that most critics “like” Eternals is true. It’s average critics rating is 5.70. That isn’t good.

Those were just from the top of my head. With a little more research I also found:

Hellboy I and II
Captain America
Wonder Woman
Black Panther
Spider-Man I and II

I'll add Captain Marvel to that mix. And even Spider-Man 3 has lower audience score than critics score there.
