Drama Royal Pains

Great ep last night. I'm hoping the dad angle takes off beautifully this season.

Also, did anyone else besides me
call the diagnosis on the interracial couple early on? The minute the husband said that he had a rash, I knew what it stemmed from and it had nothing to do with VD. lol
I figured the wife cheated on the husband, personally. But I'm a cynic. :awesome:

Honestly, isn't there a case of medical malpractice in misdiagnosing an armadillo infection as freaking SYPHILIS?

I think the couple was so relieved that the other didn't cheat that they probably wouldn't have a problem with the misdiagnosis.

I would be pretty pissed if a doctor misdiagnosed a minor infection that's easily curable as freaking syphilis.

I would be too, provided the misdiagnosis wasn't primarily my fault because of my secrecy shenanigans and personal infidelity drama. It's kind of hard to see a clear picture when the patients are intentionally obscuring a lot of details about the case. :o

It momentarily crossed my mind that she could've been guilty of infidelity but the writers seemed to stress the point on her little belt business a little too much in the beginning.

It just appeared to be the setup for that particular layer of the ep to me. :hehe:

I knew it had something to do with the belt so I thought Hank's younger brother would get a rash too (which would point Hank in the right direction of what caused the rash).

They totally missed some Evan R. Lawson comedy moments there. Imagine if he got the rash as well, and the police officer husband (and Hank) thought it was Evan the wife was cheating with?

Yeah there could have been some pretty funny awkward scenes if they had gone that route.

That would have been a great angle. Evan having to explain that and probably that big guy chasing him in anger to that effect would've been really funny. :hehe:

Yeah, but who in this day and age would think it was leprosy from an armadillo? Still, me and my friend's mom called the belts at the same time. :p

I'm so glad the show's back, and that we'll be getting 2 extra episodes this season. :awesome:

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason for most malpractice suits.

You do know that doctors don't know everything, and that medicine isn't an exact science and is mostly guesswork, right?

Considering that armadillos are the only species aside from humans to be able to get leprosy, I would. :awesome:

Yeah, but armadillos + skin infection = reasonable cause to check for leprosy.

How is that a misdiagnosis? He had the tests done... the tests came back as freaking syphilis..... and the symptoms matched freaking syphilis.... and the other person that has it is their sex partner....

How is he supposed to know that the thing that walks like a dog, barks like a dog, and acts like a dog.... is just a bunch of ducks in a trench coat.

My favorite part of tonight's ep was:
Eddie R. getting his son in check as he sat there with his arms crossed like a hurt little b*tch.
:hehe:

And for those who want to side with Hank on that, fine. But after awhile it's going to make him look a tad too petty. Yeah, I empathize with his childhood pain but c'mon...get over it and move on already.

Knowing where Hank's coming from, it ain't that easy. Although, at least Hank's dad seems somewhat redeemable.

Evan came from that same place as Hank and has shown more character in this situation than Hank. Look, I know that every child responds differently to things of this nature but this isn't real life; not too cool to have the lead character in his own television series be pouty too long and Mark Feuerstein doesn't look good doing pouty :hehe:.
Not cool what Hank did behind his father's back either although his intentions were in the right place I suppose.

I'll be glad when there's closure because Eddie R. seems to be potentially an awesome addition to the cast. Seriously, how can you stay mad at Henry Winkler long? :hehe:

At any rate, Winkler is nailing the role. Last night was amazing.

Like I stated last season: Every regular cast member in RP is well liked with the exception of Hank who seems to lack the charisma needed to pull off a lead role. He has his moments but otherwise he comes off pretty bland.

Eddie R.'s personality vaults over Hank by miles and I liked Winkler's character almost instantly. I hope he stays around awhile.

I thought Eddie's comeback at his son was well done. I don't agree with what he said and I think Hank was right, but the storyline was getting boring with Hank pissed off all the time. I'm glad Eddie fought back a little because it was getting stale with him getting a beat down everytime he and Hank were onscreen together. Also, Boris' new doctor change up is going to be some good drama for Hank!

Right. I don't condone Eddie's past wrongs of how he left his family but it was great seeing him take back some dignity by refusing any longer to be Hank's doormat. I feel his looking for redemption is sincere so I hope the writers don't pull something in the end to make him look like any more of a scumbag...especially since he's been well-received by viewers of the show.

You'd be surprised just how many fans on various sites don't want Hank to forgive his dad and that's stretching it just a little too far. It probably hits home with alot of them.

I had a father that left me and my mom when I was 4. I will be 36 this year, and I have yet to forgive him. I don't think I ever will. It made it worse that we were close when he was around, as it seemed it was with Hank and Eddie. And to top it off, Hank had to bear the brunt of fatherhood [taking care of Evan] and the pain of his mother's illness and death all at once, mostly by himself.

Let's just say I'm completely on Hank's side on this one.
