Batwoman Ruby Rose WAS Kate Kane/Batwoman

It's not as great as Supergirl's, but not as bad as the Flash's.

I like the pic but that does look more like a mask than a full cowl.

When I first saw images of comic book Batwoman, I assumed she was wearing a “domino”-style mask (albeit enlarged and with attached bat ears). This made sense (to me) given how much of her hair was visible. But from other angles, it became clear that she sports a virtually full cowl that covers her neck and the back and sides of her head. Yet - somehow? - this doesn’t obscure her full, thick and billowing locks. I chock this up to the stylization and artifice of the medium. Specifying exactly where cowl ends and scalp/hair begins isn’t something that artists would worry about.

But, needless to say, a costume designer for a live-action production does have figure out these details. And it seems to me that this TV version is uncannily faithful to the comic book prototype.

The cowl looks like it was brought from a charity shop. In other words the mask looks cheap. If she does get her own show I do hope the costume will evolve like they've did with costumes of the Green Arrow and The Flash.

I’ve seen images of serious cosplayers who are decked out as Batwoman. But as impressive (and expensive) as these efforts look, the Ruby Rose costume and cowl is - to my eye - clearly better.

So I’m finding comparisons to cheap, off-the-shelf Halloween masks (i.e., several steps below cosplay level) quite puzzling. Perhaps someone could post a photo of such a mask to illustrate…?

Yeah, I think people are just hopping onto the Costume Store Bandwagon now.
No, it's not shaped like the comic versions, but it is still a good looking mask. I like the look of the material and its coloring.

Yes. But in terms of real world looks, the one they have looks far more real than a simple costume mask.

I hope not. No Bat should ever be seen with their face exposed while in costume.

It really depends on how they shoot it with the right lighting and angles. The SR suit was crap but they salvaged it due to the amazing cinematography in that movie.

The second shot of her with the cowl looks pretty cool actually! Much better than the first. Thankfully much better than Gotham techno reject Bane and current teletubby flash

This is quite literally the only decent cosplay to make the mask "work". Don't google it.

I agree. It really jarred with me with Bale and Affleck.

Got to be honest I love it, the bat family's always had some of the coolest looking costumes in my opinion with the likes of Red Hood, Nightwing, Red Robin and Cassandra Cain's so good to see this on getting a great interpretation from the CW design team, just need to see how Ruby does acting like Batwoman now

Nice! She looks intense, even with half her face covered. Definitely much better than the first pic we were shown.
Love the gun too. I wonder if its a gas gun or a fancy tazer, cause I doubt you shoot bullets from that. Also like the bat-sign on the body of it!

I suspect it's dual-purpose, with the center functioning like a grapple gun.
