The Amazing Spider-Man Rules for the Reboot

I don't know about this. It's a film franchise, not a TV show.

I know, and I am not saying it should always be done for every movie in the reboot, just certain stories and characters.

And there are different degrees of Cliff Hanger endings. Minor ones that simply hint at what is to come (ala BB with the Joker), or how they could of ended SM3 with the birth of Venom.

Cliff hanger endings have been used very successfully in other movies too, like Star Wars.

Spider-Man 2 had a cliff hanger with Harry finding his father's lair.

Yes, and I loved that aspect of it. One of many things in SM2 that made it rightfully so the jewel of the Franchise.

A lot of comicbook movies actually have cliffhanger endings or alluding to its not over.

BB, TDK, Batman Returns, X-1, X-2, X-3 has Magneto move the chess peice and Prof. X in another person's body, Hulk, the craptastic Wolverine movie had after the credits stuff.

I think it works fine so far but it definitely pertains to what they do throughout the film.

Front page is reporting that MJ is not in this so that is great news.

I hope we see Doc Ock and GG1 (maybe even GG2, assuming how many movies are done) in this reboot.

As far as Ock goes, just to see him on screen again would be great, while with GG, a chance to do the costume and Goblin Legacy justice.

Mmmm the thought of seeing Doc Ock again is great. Although right now I can't imagine anyone but Molina in the role.

Honestly, they can hold off on Doc Ock. The conensus was that Molina did a good job with the character. You have the naysayers saying other wise, but it's a small percentage.

However, I want to see a new fully realized Green Goblin.

Ture. But I would still love to see someone else take a shot at it again.

Molina did a fantastic job and I really don't think it can be topped...but, Doc Ock is my favorite Marvel villain, that is right Marvel, so I want to see him done again.

GG and Doc Ock should appear in the reboot, but not in the first movie. It's too soon. Hell by the time this comes out it still wouldn't even been 10 years since Ock was in a movie.

They should go Batman Begins and use a villain/s that haven't been used for the first one. While setting these guys up for sequels.

Molina did one of the best super villain acting imo. But I don't like this whole "sympathetic" side of the movie character, so I think he could be done better with a better script. But yeah, the actor himself would need to really be at his best to be able to top Molina.

Rules of the Reboot: Revisit the sheer optimism from the first two movies. Of course, Marc Webb style.

For the first movie it seems obvious to go with Lizard as the villain with Gwen as the love interest. Then I think an interesting idea in the second would be to go with the symbiote storyline (I just rewatched this saga in tas, it needs to be done right) along with the Green goblin. It could be very dark, with Gwen killed by the Goblin and the symbiote spider-man almost killing norman in rage and anger. Though that would be similar the SM3, then for a 3rd obviously venom and a second villain, not sure who.

I absolutely loved both Green Goblin and Doc Ock in the original trilogy. My only gripes now, being older and more understanding(because when I was 8(SM) and 10(SM2) I didn't care), were that Green Goblin's costume wasn't GG and that Doc Ock wasn't a menacing maniac.

In the reboot, I hope Green Goblin aka Norman Osborn actually looks like the comic version. It could look epic and feel eerie. If we can get another DaFoe performance then HOLY ****! And Doc Ock should not be encouraging or nice. Just like the Joker, he should be a mean man from the beginning. A new sleek design would be cool too.

Only 2 (3 if you use GG2) villains should discover Peter's secret identity:

GG1 and Venom

No Ny'ers, or unmasking of Spidey in Subways, etc.

Have Capt Stacy, acting like a father figure to Peter, drop hints that he knows Peter's secret, but other than that... keep the ones who know a select few.

Love the idea of Captain Stacey as a father figure dropping hints like he knows but the film never confirming it. Also agree on the GG and Venom should know Spidey is Peter. I'd add don't make the film all about the girl.

The "Legend" walks among us mere mortals once again!!! :wow: :cwink:

LARRY!!!!!! Good to "see" you again (posting that is), and I totally agree with your ALL about ONE girl comment.

And I always loved the contrast between Norman and Capt Stacy as want to be father figures in Peter's life. A dark brooding one vs. a wise, in control one. One that you could see why Harry had his problems, where the other reminds one of Uncle Ben.

It pointed out while Peter lost his real parents early, how truely blessed he was to have Uncle Ben and Aunt May in his life, and how his turning away from "his great responsibility" that one time, cost him so dearly.

It brings home what he has lost, and how precious Aunt May is to him, and the time they have left.

MJ isn't necessary for the reboot...

However, one major rule I want.....

That the villains don't have to trace back to peter some how and that there it's capable the two just have never met before and that they aren't tragic characters.

Praise from the Legendary Slag. Life is indeed good.
Excellent point contrasting Norman to Stacey. Would actually be a good idea for the film.

Heck, you know the film would be better if they just had all the old future franchise savers write the film. :woot::cwink:

Says the guy who's in love with VenomvsSpidey.

I agree with the villains not having to ALL be personally connected to Peter, and not ALL be sympathetic characters.

Not ALL mind you, some deserve their connection and sympathetic characterization.

As far as MJ goes, the "true" MJ character is important to the reboot. Not the first movie, but definitely in the overall reboot, be it 3 or 6 or however many movies. (I am hoping for more than 3 myself).

I would LOVE to see MJ as she was in the comics (ASM), with only hearing about her til the famous intro of "Face it Tiger, you hit the jackpot".

IF they show her before that scene, it takes away from that scene. I loved how they played that, with Aunt May and Anna Watson trying to set up their charges, and Peter thinking the worst (you know ...umm.. well she's got a GREAT Personality), and then... finally meeting her. :wow::wow:

Greatness!
