I think there should be no big names for the characters. Each are known for various projects.

Alex - Percy Daggs III

Karolina - Emily Vancamp

I really like these two choices. Check out Percy's hair! He's perfect, plus he's got that whole I'm sorta keeky smart thing going on. I feel like he'd be playing a Marvel MMO like in the comic book.

While I agree that he isn't skinny, I don't really see a jock build on him. He seems just regularly built.

The jock thing is part of his character. He doesn't respect his parents from the start because they're nerds; he gives wedgies to kids that are like his folks.

ive had this talk with people on here before.. build and muscle are different... some people can try and pack on as much muscle as they want, but there build still isn't going to be that of a line backer. muscle can indeed be added.. but it usually doesn't change a persons shape (other then losing weight of course)

and lets face it... a shaggy haired blonde guy who can act and has that build, isn't very hard to find in hollywood *yawn

She's waaaaaaaaaaaay too old for Molly. She'd be a good choice for Gert though.

It sure looks like they drew Alex to look like Percy Daggs III. Percy is a little old now and I saw him in that recent gum commercial and there's really no way he could pass for a teenager now.

Indie actor Matthew Thompson sort of looks like Alex too and he's a lot younger.

after watching veronica mars like crazy last week... i realized half the cast would make a pretty decent runaways cast... sure there not teens, but i think they'd still work well...

the only reason he looks older imo is because he gained more muscle, you can see it in his face, that and he also cut his hair...

true, but he wasnt a teen during the VM days... and he's "grown" alot in only 2 years.... its only been 2 right? or has it been 3? anywho... alot of its muscle, he has a completely different build now.

Whedon's a big fan of BKV. Not too eerie at all. Kristen Bell would be a great Karolina, and if there ever had been an Asian chick on VMars, we would all think that she was an excellent Nico... except for the fact that they're all too old to focus on the adults vs children conflict. They're too old to believably looks 16-18 next to someone who believably looks 12-14. And they're too old for high school roles at this point. Should we raise Gert's age, so someone older can play her?

Now we're getting somewhere. Those two have a LOT of TV experience, and can be coached to greatness with a good script. Well met. Honestly, I'd love to see a bunch of recognizable B-list actors in a room together as the Pride's Parents. That would be exceptionally awesome.

What show? Whedon was a fan of BKV and his comic book writing. Runaways comes out, blows everyone's mind, and then Veronica Mars comes out. Its not a surprise that there are some comparisons between characters. Whedon was loving Gert while designing Mac. Whedon had Alex fresh in his mind while casting Percy Daggs III.

I'm just saying its not eerie and there's no coincidence.

Whedon or BKV had nothing to do with Veronica Mars... Whedon did not create, or cast anyone on the show, he was simply just a fan of it. Rob Thomas is the one who created the show.
