Ryan Reynolds Get Buried.

First time poster here. Hope you don't mind me dropping in.

I saw all the back and forth about "Buried" going on and, as an acquaintance of someone who's involved with this project (who I spoke with at length this past weekend at a wedding), I thought I should clear up a few things:

1) It is not a horror film. Those of you who read the script can attest to this. It is an intense psychological/international thriller.

2) It does take place ENTIRELY in the box. There is not a single cut-away, flashback or anything else, making it the smallest, single-location film of all-time (beating out "Lifeboat").

3) It will not be a static, locked-off shot of Ryan Reynolds for 90 minutes (believe me, I was relieved to hear this too). Every possible angle, shot, lighting manipulation, etc. possible will apparently be used.

4) Ryan Reynolds is the only person you see on screen. All other actors are heard as phone voices.

Personally, I can't wait to see it.

I'm afraid Renolds can't even save this film. I'm not impressed with the "story" at all.

it's one thing to say that you're not impressed with the story, but to say that "I'm afraid Renyolds can't even save this film"? What is that coming from?

Because I don't belive ANY actor can save a film like this. There's nothing to it. It's a guy in a box. Big deal. I remember another movie too...about a guy in a phone booth. And that had more than one person in the film and it still turned out to be ho-hum.

Oh. YOU.

whaaaat...that's just how I feel. :P Maybe if I liked that phone booth movie I would be more inclinded to like the theme of this other "box" movie.

Jesus, lack of imaginations here. Like Ace said. You poeple are only looking at the concept and so bluntly. It can so much more. If it is done right, hopefully it can be just as involving as I hope it to be. I mean if this works, we can feel some anxiety with Reynolds. The point that I would try to do is feel what he feels and be just as involved.

I wonder how they're going to do the trailer???

I for one actually love the idea.

Trailer idea

BLACK SCREEN
Someone wakes up, it's pitch black.
Horrific screaming, the kind that would make you feel REALLY uneasy.
BURIED.

Yea I think the way you should go into a film like this is; ****!!! What if I was in that situation?!?!

I mean being buried alive must be one of the most horrific things ever. If Reynolds' performance is good enough (which I'm confident it will be) the viewer will get that feeling.

I want a mysterious teaser, like Cloverfields teaser was before Transformers.

Yeah, now that I think about it. We can hear Reynolds voice in a black screen. He's waking up or something. Then we hear souds of him moving around and we learn and he learns it's a small space.

He screams and we cut to him in the ground banging on the top and cut to black.

I think it'd be cool if it was the cellphone ringing that woke him up.

How about pitch black, you hear someone fumbling around, he pulls out a zippo lighter, sparks it, we then see his face and that he is in a box. Lighter goes out. Buried.

I like that but, I'd also love to see...well, hear nothing but horrific screaming.

I think it's a great concept. So simple, it's one of those "why didn't I think of that!" ideas. I would of killed to have this idea as my short film for college, I would of got the best grades ever!

But I didnt, so I dont. :o:csad:

Interesting. But the use of the twirling camera angles and the music was a little much. But I guess it could change in the context of the film.

Nice finds.

Looks pretty intense. Reynolds is believable there and that camera work being all topsy and turvy really adds to the atmosphere.

I hate mtv site, can never watch anything on it. :(

I wish someone would put those clips on youtube or something.

I knew I was going to love the trailer.

The scene is really good too. :yay:

looks lame... i dont think i would be able to stand a whole hour of that..

the twirling camera is a terrible idea too.

definatly not worth $10 for theaters.. mayyybe depending on reviews a rental.
