I teared up a bit when you find out that the one girl who had her son with her all the time died and her son grew up and was looking at the picture of his mom on the wall at the Hall of Fame.

George Kirk in the new "Star Trek"...at least more so than the other major death in the film.

Kong in Peter Jackson's King Kong. Definitely the one that stands out above all others to me.

I wouldn't call this a sad scene, but definitely one of the best death sequences ever. The epitome of bittersweet.

Yeah, if the thread title were "Best Character Death Scene" I'd have some different answers. Some great death scenes have too much of an inspirational meaning behind them to qualify as the saddest.

Oh, and Achilles and especially Hector in Troy were quite heartbreaking.

Hector in Troy. He was the man, I actually felt really terrible for him. And when Achilles realized what he done was wrong it made it worse. Don't care what anyone says, Troy is a great movie.

Rorshcach. I knew it was coming, but it was just so meaningful and beautiful in a twisted sorta way, couldn't help but be upset.

And no one has mentioned this, Clive Owens character in Children of Men. Man, if there was one guy in a film I didn't wanna see die, it was him. What a legend.
