San Francisco At It Again

If everyone in the world was a honest hard working individual... this would be great..... but sadly, that's not the case... we have people like MORG, who will abuse this to the very end...

How is he being unrealistic?

because he's assuming that $9 in SF is equal to $9 everywhere else in the US. he ignored my earlier post about how SF has the highest cost of living in the country. not to mention he misunderstood my comment about a "pat on the back".

I just love the blatant disrespect for fry cooks and Wal-Mart greeters here. Ok, that was funny, but theres some truth in it. Its pretty sad how some of you guys look down on these people. Says a lot about our society as a whole.

Its not a matter of looking down upon them but to say they deserve the same privledges as a doctor or a lawyer or a skilled laborer or a CEO is outrageous. The fact is they ARE UNSKILLED LABORERS

No, I'm sorry, your posts in this thread say otherwise. Some of you guys, you included have come off as highly pretentious. I agree with what you said here. But fact is, unlike CEO's, lawyers and doctors, that fry cook at McDonald's, the one that makes your Big Mac that you enjoy so much, probably cant afford to miss a day of work.

that's bull****. i get paid sick days and i'm not a doctor or a lawyer. besides, i wouldn't want to go through the **** my wife does on a daily basis, dealing with angry customers and running around like crazy, all the while having to tolerate her ******* boss. just because they're not trained in a traditional skill doesn't mean it's easy work or can be done well by anyone.

exaclty... also, think of this... how many people, who can't afford to miss work, come to work when they are sick? Spreading germs to co-workers, therefor causing more people to get sick... having these people stay home with 8 hours of pay may bennefit the company... just a thought

plus, how would you like some sick guys snotty hands touching your burger....

The person who flips burgers and dips fries in a fryer does not deserve benefits.

The person who says "Hi, welcome to Wal-Mart!" and gives you the little smilie face sticker, does not deserve benefits.

I do not deserve benefits.

People who work in jobs that any random joe and a chimp can do. DO NOT DESERVE benefits. People should earn them.

Not only that, there is a thing called capitalism.

first off, you go burn your hands in hot grease everyday, deal with the idiots who eat at mcdonalds, make trash runs in the middle of snowstorms, and all the other s**t you have to put up with working at mcdonalds or other fast food jobs and then tell me that getting a paid sick day is so bad...

also, if a small buisness cant afford to treat it's workers right and stay in buisness, then that small buisness is a failure and deserves to be shut down, because this is capitalism, and social darwinism does apply

It's not disrespect to the people. It's disrespect to the jobs. Those are some really, really ****ty jobs.

 Yeah, I don't buy that. Yeah, theyre ****ty jobs, which further proves that if someone could do something else, they would do something else. I dont think you guys realize this. I used to work for The King (BK) back in the day. There were about 3 people there who used to work office jobs that got laid off and were actively looking for new jobs while working there. They had families, they needed to do something to get some money. 2 years later, they are still there.

think about this.... if we had it HH's way... everyone who makes under 10 bucks an hour would have no bennifits... meaning, it's up to them to find a way to pay for medical bills.... so now option1, we have people living in run down areas, becaause they are spending 200 bucks a week for COBRA so their family can have insurance.. or option 2 we have people pressing their luck, living without health insurace....

option 1... we wonder why the US has such a high crime rate... lot of crime has to deal with people living in poverty... also, many revert to drugs, wether it's taking them or selling them... so now we got guys like HH, who's taxes will increase due to the elivated crime rate

Option 2.... we got people who can't go to the doctor because of cost.... well you know who that effects, US..... because either people aren't going to the doctor, therefor causing hospitals to charge more due to the lack of people going, or, we have people getting admitted into the ER, who can't pay... they are let go, and it's up to us to pay for them. How do we pay for them, increased hospital/clinic rates... insurance rates going up...

so yeah... people who work at Wal-Mart don't deserve bennifits :whatever: .... don't be an idiot... cause and effect....

Nothing good ever comes out san fran! :cmad:

('cept "The Rock", that was cool.)

Tough for them.

If your fellow employees consists of a couple of ******s sent there by a group home, various high school age kids, and then a 45 year old who has to answer to a 27 year old shift manager, then there is something wrong with that 45 year old

not neccisarily...the job market at this point is horrible, unemployment is higher than it has been in years, and there's just not that many opportunities for anyone to get GOOD work

:whatever: They couldn't even get a construction job. I mean really.

I'm not saying that at all. I think that benefits should be earned or even given by the goodwill of management if it's a ****ty job. Not given by government mandate. Not only that, small businesses simply cannot afford expensive benefits. I guess employers don't deserve rights :o

As for health care, I beleive that we should work to expand it as much as we can while keeping it privatized. Government health care sucks ass. I'm a recipient of it. And all the good doctors will just go somewhere else (just like Canada's doctors have went to the United States). And taxes will go up, a lot. I'm sorry that I don't want to give 50% of what I earn to the government like in Scandinavia.

But people over there hardly complain as they have free health care for everybody, paid sick days at work and even money for you unemployement periods if you get fired. And superior education is also close to free.
