How would that've been played out? It made sense Wolverine had to stop her because he could heal constantly... Cyclops dying proved he was uncapable of saving her. He knew Jean died at the end of X2... the Jean he loved anyway.

How did him "dying", if he even did in fact die, prove he was incapable of 'saving' Jean?

He was caught way offguard.

Scott would have been toast if he came close to Jean while trying to bring her back to the good side... I still feel for him though but I don't think I wanna see a deformed Scott...eek

You think Logan could heal faster than Jean can THINK? Come on, get real - the scene is what the writers make of it, nothing more. I'm sure they would've been able to come up with something.

Not trying to sound snobby, but all the "Scott wouldn't have worked" don't make sense because they can easily tweak the scenes to their favour.

I kind of agree but I think only Cyke could have brought Jean out to hold back Phoenix and Logan would finish her off. Cyclops would run to her and hold her in his arms.

Yes, that's exactly what should've happened to. Or maybe she could've held the Phoenix off long enough so he could reluntactly kill her.

Either way, as good as this movie is, it's basically an overall concept of what should've been rather than it ending being what it was in the end.

Right. Those stupid comic writers. They got it all wrong back then. They should finally rewrite the Phoenix saga.

I hope you're joking.

Ummm yes?
I mean, look what those 2 screenwriters did to such an awesome comic book story. They practically turned it into a travesty.

Okay good. I thought I was about to debate someone who knew nothing. But obviously no harm done. :D
It's becoming hard to distinguish people being sarcastic and being serious on these boards these days. :(

I guess a lot of the board members are being bitter - and rightfully so.

I thought it was kewl that Scott (and later Logan) had that telepathic link with Jean, it shows that they are connected. I kinda wish that Jean would say more about her "sensing Scott" so she (and the audience) knows that maybe she did or did not kill him.

Scott would have been killed if they played that scenario at the end of trying to stop Phoenix. However, the writers could have altered her destructive power into shooting flames or something (and not have the whole democularization), in order to have Scott save Jean. Something like the animated series, which was awesome in portraying the Phoenix saga...I don't know, something along those likes would have worked for Scott.

The story made sense in the movie, especially since we knew Cyclops was going to get a limited role.

Fans of Cyclops were never going to be happy about it... Some fans of the comics (like me) can accept the changes, some can't. That's just how it is.

It definately could have worked their was no reason to kill of scott not only did they do that but they made him seem incapable of leading and like a wreck. And the bit i didnt understand was when the professor told storm she was going to take over after him I was like WTF. The mans grieving but his not going to grieve forever.

Well...true, unless if you go for the theory that Jean was underneath somewhat holding Phoenix back so that she couldn't completely destroy Wolverine all at once. Notice how her telepathy shocks came in seperate waves at that time, and not in constant pressure. Phoenix could have easily killed Logan, but she didn't. Why? Prehaps because of Jean's fighting will or feelings against it.

Scott didn't die. Look at it this way:

When she came back, she was Dark Phoenix, when she kissed him, you saw the face.

1. Why didn't they show the body?

2. Why was she knocked out?

Cykes blasted her or something.

The writer wrote the scene for Wolverine, not for Cyclops. If Cyclops was the one to save her they just would not have done that whole walking up, demolecularizing and healing thing.

I wish he diidn't heal so damn fast. it'd have been extremely cool if we saw his metal skeleton exposed all over and his body shredded ike the termnator.

Wolverine's immortal, bithc.

That wolverine stuff didn't felt like a vs tough. Jean was just standing and used her powers with her mind. And that's the thing I don't like and ist aht she just stands there with creepy eyes and destroys everybody. I would like to see more movement of her.

i think she chose to die because she realized Scott was dead and she had nothing to live for... Jean knew what she was doing wrong and the only way for someone to "save her" was for someone who loved her.. to kill The Dark Phoenix inside of her and Logan loved her.. so, he killed her. Logan killed Jean at the right moment when it was JEAN not the Phoenix.

They didn't even watch X1! After the Liberty Island thing, Wolverine was lying by Xavier and Jean and still was healing! I know Rogue touched him and all but the fact is HE. DOESN'T. HEAL. THAT. FAST.

:(

Because the comics have never contradicted themselves, not once.

They could've written the scene in Scott's favor, just like they did for Wolverine. That scene kinda pushed it, still an AWESOME freakin movie though.

Yeah. X1's Rogue nearly killed Logan. twice. A car wreck knocks him out. Sabretooth knocked him out with one tree swing, and Mags' hitting him against a wall of a train knocked him out. In X2 Deathstrike nearly killed him, and one bullet to the forehead knocked him out. But an omnipotent being who demolecularizes people? He walks right up to her, while being torn apart. Just a little inconsistent. Sorry, but it's lazy, lazy writing. Mags' fall was well-done, though...
