I say Ehren Kruger because I still very much believe that whole hospital scene was added by him after the Weinsteins decided they didn't want
Sid to die. I'm almost certain that's what really pushed Kevin over the edge. The dude who owns Funworld, the makers of the Ghostface mask, tweeted during filming saying Wes and crew were back in the hospital for an extended scene because "everybody wants more!" (or something along those lines)......and that was after they had wrapped all the hospital shooting (there were more scenes in the hospital but they were cut). And if I recall, it was during the time news spred that Kevin was out.

I don't mean to stire the kettle, it's just that I believe the film was going to end with Jill the "hero" and that she got away with everything. After we fade from white is everything they added afterwards. I think Ehren took it upon himself to be meta and add "consider this an alternate ending".

Kevin Williamson should just raise a whole bunch of money, hire someone with a RED camera, and just make another Scream film himself.

I'll tell you what line felt like Kruger:
"F**k Bruce Willis". The reason why I think so is because he did something similar in Scream 3 with Jennifer shouting at Ghostface "You can't kill me, I'm the killer in Stab 3. I'M THE KILLER IN STAB 3!!!" right before she died.

Seems like a Kruger thing to do having a character say something corny like that before they die. Williamson did none of that with the kills in Scream 1 and 2.

IF that was true

Then I guess the same could be said about Robbie. "I'm gay, I'm gay!". It does seem to fit Ehren's writing. And makes perfect sense if Bob wanted to bring in Ehren to make things a bit more fun. I REALLY wish Kevin would just leak his entire version of the script online. I would love to see what the kills were like.

I think it would've been really cool if Jill got away with it and the sequel opened with Jill being murdered by a new Ghostface who knows what she did. It would set up a really interesting mystery for Gale, Dewey, and the new cast.

The Jill getting away with it idea is dumb anyways. Especially when people bring up the whole thing about a Ghostface who would come after her because he knew what she had done. Why would this Ghostface kill anyone other than Jill? It makes Ghostface the hero and the heroine the bad guy. It's an interesting thing to toy with, but you can't take it very far.

Even if Scream 5 would have just been Jill becoming an unintentional victim of another spree? We wouldn't give three ****s about her secondary characters, because she herself wouldn't because she's a bad guy.

If Jill is the opening victim it can work. Killing her would not be a vigilante act but a way for the new Ghostface to claim the legacy. It all comes down to the final act when his or her motive for doing this is revealed. With good writing it could work very well.

I would have liked to have seen:

Jill get away with and Sid really be dead. But Kirby lived, so that leaves Jill pissed off she's not the only survivor and it ends there. Then when Scream 5 begins they're both stars and Kirby is doing something interesting with it and Jill has become a celebrity ****e like a Kardashian or Lohan or something. Then it opens with Jill and whoever she's trying to start her life over with as a sort of redemption getting skewered by a new Ghostface who wanted to finish "what Charlie and Trevor started." Then Kirby is the new heroine for the next two films.

That is how I would have done it. Albeit, the lines Sid had in the hospital did make for some brilliance, though the whole thing was very silly (like where did the nurses and doctors go when those wires were ripped off Sid?). But it certainly doubles back on making fun of the whole remake/reboot thing.

Also I think lines Williamson didn't write include [blackout]"**** Bruce Willis" and "I'm gay." But they both worked for me, particularly the last one. They weren't as bad as the lines in Scream 3,[/blackout] in my opinion.

Kirby was truly a great character. They took all the best elements of Tatum and Randy from Scream 1/2 and combined them....then cast Hayden. [blackout]Really hope she pops up alive in Scream 5. If she dies, she needs an epic Randy/Tatum style killing after surviving a movie.[/blackout]

As for Jill. At first she appears to be just a Sidney clone set to take over the franchise, [blackout]but that's the point. She's marketed, dressed and acted as a nice, but bland new "survivor girl" to take over the franchise. But it's all an act, because she's so self-aware, she literally KNOWS she is the new Sidney Prescott. That was her motive to kill, so as to reboot/remake the franchise with her as the star. That was brilliant and makes her the best killer the series has had since the first movie.[/blackout]

Hope we can keep this exchange cordial.

Beautiful. :awesome:

Jill is really growing on me. I know I've been saying this, but the fact an envious fame seeking wannabe teenage girl turning pschotic on her cousin is ****ing INSANE. I mean I still can't believe she was revealed to be the killer.

This is a great idea.
I like it better than following her for an entire film.

Maybe the 3D trend is something the fifth film can address possibly? Hopefully it's not in 3D though. Although wouldn't it kind of defeat its purpose?

something similar can still happen like that for the next one!,Kirby's future is not 100% certain yet.

Everything about Kirby was great....except for her hair. :oldrazz:

I'd actually say that [blackout]Jill[/blackout] is the second best, but not behind Billy, but instead behind Mrs. Loomis. That is in no small part due to Laurie Metcalf playing the role so damn brilliantly.

Other than that, I agree entirely with your summation. Really well put.

What excuse can they have for Dewey not saying Kirby's alive?

Yeah...[blackout]Kirby's dead[/blackout]. Bringing her back would feel forced.

Matt, I'm sorry dude, but Hayden rocked that hair well, she owned that hair well. and she looked sexy with that hair well! Period!!!

It's great to see that Kirby is being so well received in this thread. She is definitely one of my favorites of the entire series. She was written very well and Hayden nearly stole every scene she was in.

And Hayden's haircut was pretty badass. It could have been a disaster on anyone else...but not Hayden.

Legally Kirby isn't family of Jill's so he can't disclose her condition, but with Sid he can disclose her condition because Sid is Jill's family?

No way, her acting was good but her hair was bad. :oldrazz:

Kirby returning would feel kinda forced,But I'd still welcome her!,Dewy did not mention her being alive or dead and that can go in so many ways and even IF they say she survived and is a survivor without making any excuses for Dewy not mentioning her in the end of 4.....I'd still welcome her back damn it!

And her coming back in a contrived manner would cheapen the character. Gwen Stacy is so fondly remembered because Marvel did not retcon it. Bringing her back would make her less terrific. Less is more.

The thing is Dewey survived worse TWICE and all he got was a limp and he wasn't even that much of a fantastic character. That's contrived. I understand he had to be there to have a plotline with Gale, but still him living through both Scream 1 and 2 like he did bugged me.

Though Dewey was also revealed to be alive at the end of each film.

Kirby living through the same thing that happened to Sidney in the same film is no more contrived than what happened to Dewey, even if he was revealed to have lied through Scream 1 and 2.

...a limp that seemed to disappear by Scream 4. :oldrazz:
