No matter how many times I watched this movie which is more than ten times as of today, it never fails to engross me as if I'm watching it for the first time. It's a great suspense thriller but it is also a great character study. Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling remain to be two of the best and fascinating characters in movie history.

The movie was elegant and quiet. The pacing was pitch perfect. You've got to see the clever intercutting scenes towards the end of the movie as Clarice and the FBI agents separately hunt for Buffalo Bill. It was brilliantly shot and edited. And of course the extended ending was a classic.

Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins were perfection. All of their scenes together are electrifying especially their first meeting. The role of Clarice was originally offered to Michelle Pfeiffer (she passed because she felt uncomfortable with the subject matter) and I always wondered how the movie would've turned out. As much as I love Foster, it would be interesting how the sexual tension would've played out (since Pfeiffer is far more sensual and sexy)

    Grade: A

Se7en. I understand where you're coming from and all but Se7en's ending alone clinches this one for me.

    Co-sign on that one.

SOTL was a really good film, but compared to Se7en...nah, can't even compare 'em. Se7en is like a masterpiece in the crime thriller genre. :o

Silence of the Lambs. People don't give it enough credit, as most people on these boards weren't alive or old enough to remember what a ground breaking film it was when it came out. Nothing like it had ever been done, and without Silence of the Lambs, I am guessing Se7en would not have exisited.

^ That must be the case with me because I've always thought Silence of the Lambs was very good but overrated. Se7en takes the cake for me.

I've rewatched Se7en 2 months ago on a long car ride(12 hours to be exact :() and I have to say the script is not up to snuff in some places in terms of dialogue it felt very forced and contrived and the story itself is good but I don't think it's as groundbreaking as people say it is, it's just a nice contained little film but doesn't hit great status for me, it's just "Good" which is better than most films so I'd give this to Silence of the Lambs.

Both were really great films. I voted Silence of the Lambs, as I really enjoyed the performances of both Jodie Foster, and Anthony Hopkins. Hannibal has become almost a part of popular culture with references in many areas. Both films were really great however. The kids that made Se7ven have nothing to be ashamed of. They made a fine film.

Silence of the Lambs. Supporting actors, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey, carried the story throughout Se7en. Brad Pitt and Gweneth Paltrow weren't even worth a nickel. Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins - riveting performance.

I voted Se7en but both films are outstanding and both are in my top 10 horror/thriller list.

I don't know if I would say nothing like it had ever been done. I always thought of it as a big budget slasher film with more plot. Hell, Hannible even displays his victems like works off art. Just like Jason and Michael use to:).

Actually alot of stuff in that film feels lifted from other horror films. But thats why I love it. I remember when I first saw it in the theaters. I thought it was just going to be this mystery/thriller/cop movie and It turned out to be a horror film. I Loved it.

    Love both movies.

Seven: Sommerset is probabily one of my all-time favorite characters. He's seen so much horror troughout his life and yet he still gets the strenght to carry on, always thinking of other people's need. Mills is one of the most tragic characters ever. The fall from the optimistic (everything's pretty much black and white for him) and fun but overconfident cop to the completely wrecked husband/father/human being is just heart-breaking. And then there's John Doe. And Fincher.

SOTL: Clarice, the scenes between Lecter and Clarice and Demme's directing overall.

Also, I really like how both movies were shot.

    Absolutely right, man.

Look at the facts: Silence of the Lambs is so good it won ALL FIVE major Oscars - Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Film.

    What The...

Why Se7en have many votes instead Silence of the Lambs?

Kevin Spacey´s killer is a boy scout in comparison with Hannibal Lecter.

    Hannibal( and Clarice ) Rules!!!!
