if it is an entertaining moment in the film, I will settle for that, too
.Nobody gave Sharon's role to BW, The press got it wrong about EVC being cast as the lead.[YT]vnHZdsqbOB8[/YT]
Let's see, they gave Sharon's comic role to BW in TWS and parts in CW. They failed to adequately develop her in TWS to some extent like in the comics.
So vexing because how Chris describes MCU SteveNat is Staron in the comics! It's like they themselves shot Sharon in the foot and it's all Sharon's fault?! I think it'd have been better off if they never introduced Sharon in the MCU since it's half-arsed, they've mistreated her and she'd be better off in AoS.
I don't appreciate how Chris implies that Sharon's only a Peggy replacement, and Peggy's reincarnation to Steve.
Nobody gave Sharon's role to BW, The press got it wrong about EVC being cast as the lead.
It was the Russos who pushed for BW to get a much bigger role.
Before that, I think Sharon might have been the female lead in M&M's script. Then the Russos joined the project and things changed. The trades kept thinking that the female character being cast was still the female lead, so they reported it as such.
But what Evans described, the two of them (CA and BW) being from different worlds and finding comfort in each other, is an accurate description of Steve and Sharon's comics dynamic.
Thanks for the commiseration. I don't know but there are a few who have seen early screenings that have said that they handled the whole Carter connection revelation and Staron well.I feel for Sharon fans. It sucks when your favorite characters get shortchanged in other medias. Seeing millions of people get introduced to that downgraded version sucks. As Talia fan, I know the feeling.
Is very hard for Sharon not to come across as replacement for Peggy in the MCU. My own headcanon when I read about the kiss was that Steve just wanted to feel closer to Peggy. Is the only way I could make sense of why Steve would be open to flirting or kissing any woman when Peggy just dead and that whole thing is on his mind.
So yeah, it would have been better if they didn't bother with the whole Sharon thing if this was how they were going to handle the situation. If that relationship was supposed to be important to Steve than Sharon should have been in the BW role in WS although that would have been different movie and I may have not loved it but you have to do the characters justice.
Really? There are heaps of comic panels that show Staron comforting each other and a couple I've posted earlier on this thread. It was Sharon who Steve turned to when he found out about Bucky, not BW. It was Sharon who Steve turned to before, during, and after Peggy's funeral, not BW. It was Sharon who tried to reason with Steve about opposing the registration in CW, not BW.I disagree with your last point, I never got that vibe from Steve and Sharon in the comics.
Really? Because BW's role resembled Sharon's in the TWS comics. And russos admitted that they pushed for BW to get a bigger role that turned into a co-lead.Nobody gave Sharon's role to BW, The press got it wrong about EVC being cast as the lead.
t:. Too bad EVC didn't kiss and tell or played along to give a fun answer.I disagree with your last point, I never got that vibe from Steve and Sharon in the comics.
You do realize that Sharon is a spy, right?
But if it is Sharon being dubious and secretive you want...

Nope, I still don't get that vibe. Natasha in TWS wasn't just dubious and secretive, she was proud of it.

Makes me question if Evans has read any of the Cap comics or he just reads the scripts and relies on the writers, directors, and so on to give him the details.
Which is why Evans saying the reasons he wants BW to be Cap's lover annoying because he basically described Sharon and Staron's dynamic relationship from the comics.I think the same can be said about most comic book actors, really.
t: It's shiddy that MCU BW was basically given Sharon's role.Yeah, and she had red hair!
I didn't think Fury and BW were callous in TWS. They're spies where moral flexibilities come with the role. And Sharon's a spy too. BW is like Bucky with similar brainwashed backgrounds. Sounds like Evans wants Steve to date the female TWS.
And Natasha doesn't even exactly fit comic book Natasha, either, nor was she smug/proud about her activities before The Avengers.
I'd say being trained as a child to become an assassin/spy is being brainwashed and indoctrinated. I'd likened it to brainwashed child soldiers.Nat was not brainwashed. Everything she did she had the capacity to not do.
MCU Nat was not smug about her pre-Avengers activities as her talk with Loki/Hawkeye in TA shows. She was smug about her SHIELD activities until mid-way through TWS. She thought she turned over a new leaf but she found herself exactly where she started.
And was she smug about her SHIELD activities before TWS?
