Civil War Sharon carter A.K.A. Agent 13 - Part 2

I think Sharon fans only hope to getting a fleshed out Sharon is if they do an "Agent Carter" season devoted to her (Emily did lead Revenge for a number of years on ABC so it's a possibility)

However, since it looks like her and Cap are going to become an item, I doubt it'll happen since she'll stick to the films in a minor role. Peggy could have her own show cause Cap was frozen.

Maybe Marvel will decide to give us a proper Cap 4 (one that solely focuses on Cap and his whole universe) and she will play a larger role... but that doesn't seem very likely.

If there is a Captain America franchise, since there might not.
If Cap is alive and still the lead, since we could get Bucky Cap instead.
If someone else directs, or we'll be getting Captain America: Captain Marvel.

Too many ifs, which is why the Russos liking Sharon or her part in caps mythos is ridiculous to me. There are other opportunities for everyone else but the window is rapidly closing for Sharon.

The plot thickens - to CW or to standalone. Seriously, is EVC trying to get herself fired? Maybe she doesn't want to return for IW because her ex Chris Pratt will be in it? Maybe those rabid-delusional-psychotic Stucky/Romanogers/Steggy shippers are hounding her? She's really not giving any schitz at those Marvel snipers.

Over the weekend we spoke to Captain America: Civil War star Emily VanCamp who said that after Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released, she was getting word from Marvel about the plot of third Captain America movie, a movie that never happened. ScreenCrush followed up with the writers of Civil War, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, to get the lowdown on this abandoned storyline and how exactly it came to be one of the biggest superhero movies of all time.

Markus clarifies that while this version was the one they were originally mapping out when they were first hired, they never actually got around to writing it. “It never got to draft. We started out working on a Captain America 3 and what would that be, picking up the thread that had been left behind by Winter Soldier. So it was Bucky, it was Steve and the ramifications of digging deeper into that relationship.”

It seems very much like more of a direct sequel to The Winter Soldier that would’ve served as a standalone tale focusing on Cap and Falcon and their search for Bucky. But, Markus says that as they working on their movie, Feige came into their office and just said two words: “Civil War”.

McFeely laughs about it now saying, “Well, that’s a problem. An expensive problem.” Added Markus, “You know that means Robert [Downey, Jr.], right?” Feige, unfazed, asked them to start adapting the current story into Civil War and, as Markus remembers, “many lawyers were called.”

Despite the 180, both agree (and so will you when you see it) that a good portion of their original story survived into what became Civil War. “A lot of that movie is still in this movie,” explains McFeely. “The central theme, even the way [Daniel Bruhl’s character] Zemo is operating, are from that iteration.”

What’s unclear is what gave Feige the motivation to suddenly shift to the Civil War storyline, from a smaller, more intimate film. Did it have anything to do with Warner Bros. starting a superhero war by scheduling Batman v Superman on Marvel’s planned release date for what was then just Captain America 3? Said Feige at the time:

We are doing what we’ve always done, which is sticking to our plan and sticking to our vision for the movies going forward and we have a very large vision that we’re working on for Cap 3 and for all the “threes” movies and just because another movie plops down onto one of ours doesn’t mean we are going to alter that. Maybe we should, but we’re not going to.
Warner Bros. scheduled Batman v Superman for release on Captain America’s May 6 date back in January of 2014 (only later moving it up to March). Markus and McFeely were officially hired and began working on Captain America 3 in late 2013. While we’re likely to never know the real story, the timeline seems to support the theory that Marvel wanted to answer DC’s challenge with their own Hero vs. Hero blockbuster that was even bigger and Feige quickly made Civil War happen.

This confirms that M&M were expecting to write Sharon a much bigger part for a standalone Cap 3 movie probably as female lead, but then CW happened. Serves DC right for not doing a MoS 2 and getting Superman's characterisation right first before doing a BvS movie. Now BvS is a hot mess and ab.o. disappointment. Also smh at Feige.

Only 10 mins??? That's worse than 15 mins!!! And I feel your pain. Maybe when the Cap franchise gets rebooted we'll get the Cap franchise and Sharon we deserve. And maybe EVC just misspoke the heart over head thing.

For somebody you're claiming is hardly in the movie, that's nothing to scoff at. That's more than Vision had in Age of Ultron.

And rebooting the MCU just to get more Sharon Carter? Lol

Four Things,

First, Vision's time on screen was measured with a watch. Sharon's time is an estimate.

For TWS, advanced screening audiences estimated her at 7-10 minutes. In reality she had slightly less than 30 1/2 minutes. So a 10-15 minutes estimate doesn't inspire confidence.

Second, Vision is a newborn robot, his character doesn't need fleshing out, it just is, so it didn't take any time.

Third, even with Vision's screentime , he participates in the fight and is instrumental in taking down the big bad. By all accounts, Sharon has just a small part of a fight sequences centered on Bucky that will include Black Widow and others, and will spend most of her time on the phone or something.

Fourth, ten minutes, possibly even less, is all the Sharon were likely ever to get. Whereas Vision is said to have a significant arc in this (like everyone aside from Sharon, apparently), and will definitely appear in IW, if not also GotG2.

So yeah, a supposed "10 minutes" is something to scoff.

I can't imagine it being about Pratt. But she's clearly devoid of f's to give.

Maybe it's the shipper haters and death threats that's putting EVC off.

Can't wait for this scene.

I can't tell if Evans is mocking or not.

Scoff at? Let's see in their debut MCU movies Vision got 8 mins and Sharon got 3 mins. Also CW is suppose to be the last Captain America movie and Sharon is a major Captain America character while Vision isn't so taking those into consideration 10 mins is peanuts.

I don't think that EVC saying Sharon "follows her heart, not her head" contradicts the character, tho. Comics Sharon believes in prioritizing duty over love, yes, but that doesn't mean she doesn't make exceptions. A friend of mine whose favorite character is Sharon and knows more about her than most people was just talking the other day about this, and summed up: Steve is a pretty important aspect of this like he's the one who can actually make Sharon question her convictions because he's as strong in his convictions as she is, and she trusts him, and it makes her re-evaluate things she's never had to question before. The whole idea is that Sharon is typically a duty driven person who is really challenged by someone for the first time to question what her duty is and wonder if following her gut instincts and her heart are the right way to go.

Hum, i love what you're saying here :)

I found this about Staron (and btw Peggy/Cap never dated so they're not even exes, just saying):

I love these!! :)

I'm lost here. EVC is devoid of f's to give? She's received death threats? What for?? What's this whole thing about? I have read back in the thread and I'm just reading debates about her role and screen time. Am I missing something major here?

She's getting hate from certain fans because her character is said to have a romance angle in the movie with Steve.

Of course, people think Steve belongs to someone else, usually Bucky, but sometimes Natasha, or Peggy's ghost. This is serious business, so she's getting nasty messages on twitter.

WOW....

Some people just take this stuff way too seriously. Actually that's not even taking it too seriously. That's just moronic.

Although to be fair, most of the people in this thread take her far too seriously too

Pots & kettles

Hate and death threats is a far cry from a serious discussion about the character on a message board.

very true
I blame Tumblr

Some people take this shipping stuff way too seriously. And are also unable to see the writing on the wall. Why would they even include Sharon in the movie if they weren't eventually planning on going this route?

yup, or if any of them were actual comic fans it wouldn't be an issue
but apparently the tumblr fangirls won't be content until they make Cap gay, death to any woman who comes between him and Bucky/Sam/Tony/Whoever the hell they're drawing pics of right now

Is there a report of death threats or something. I haven't seen any. Tumblr also ships Steve with Nat so they don't seem to be anti any woman. Lets source accusation instead of just throwing things out there.

This just looks very sensitive Sheron fans being dramatic for nothing or are annoyed she isn't that popular.

Also, fanboys *****ing about Tumblr and fangirls. Have you met yourselves, bot meet kettle.
This thread, we went from accusing the Russos' of conspiracy, now Tumblr, I wonder what is next.

eh, I never accused the russos of s***
and the tumblr community definitely produces vastly more slashfic pics and gifs than they do Cap/Widow ones, at least on all the pages I've seen, the Captain America tag can be a scary thing to search for

and regardless, i was actually joking, if ya didn't get that from the tone of my first post

Was just addressing the thread in general.
Cap/WS is the biggest ship in tumblr I agree but there are sizable Nat/Steve shippers there too. I remember shipping wars between Nat/Steve and Nat/Clint on the tags. I don't see huge drama going now. Maybe after the movie opens.

I think AoU killed both of those ships. :funny:

it'd be awesome if they were a real life couple; provided that they had things in common, got along, and weren't involved with other people.

She has a tendency to fall for her costars... :lol

She dated Chris Pratt when they were both on Everwood
and she is currently dating Josh Bowman and they were both on Revenge together

Emily looked beautiful at the premiere :)

They also introduced her on the main stage as part of Team Cap and she stood with Team Cap... (the plot thickens) lol

Both Chris Evans and Emily VanCamp confirmed...

their characters are in a relationship by the end of the film

The old I haven't seen it so it must not be true :whatever:.

Well this is a Sharon Carter thread and it's not about her being popular or not, it's about Sharon a major character in the comics not getting her dues.

Also, fanboys *****ing about Tumblr and fangirls. Have you met yourselves, bot meet kettle.

Nuance isn't your thing.

She dated Pratt from Everwood, Joseph Morgan from Ben Hur, Dave Annable from Bro&Sis, and I'm surprised she's still with Bowman from Revenge.
