Should Batman reveal his secret identity to Gordon in TDK?

  • Yes.

  • No, never.

  • Not in this one, but in the next one.

  • In a twist, have Gordon figure it out.

No, although I wouldn't hate some implication that Gordon knows.

:csad: I'd just like to know who in their right minds voted yes.

I'd say no, that Batman never reveals his secret identity but I'd be fine with Gordon having a hunch as to who Batman is, but I do not want Gordon bringing that up in front of Bruce. I want it to be like Robby Robertson in the spider-man movies

No revelations. The dynamics work much better as it is in the books; Gordon is too smart of a cop to truly not know (or at least heavily suspect), but doesn't care about the matter to acknowledge it.

man . . . I seriously wish that they let Batman go one whole goddam movie w/o ANYONE finding out who he is . . . obviously, Alfred has to know so whatever . . . Lucius kind of had to find out in the terms of the film, so ok . . . but Rachel fuacking Dawes . . . I guess I can understand why, but c'mon! It's fuacking Batman . . . and EVERY OTHER goddam movie, basically all the villains always end up finding him out . . . WEAK!

I agree with this. In every damn movie, someone finds out. Isn't the idea of a scret identity suppose to be that its "secret." Rachel Dawes finding out really bummed me out about Begins. Its not even like Bruce really, really wanted to get in her pants or anything.

No way, he should never reveal who he is to anybody, I am good with Grodon having a "idea" or a "feeling" about who he really is but nothing more, and no way should the Joker or Two Face or anybody else figure out who he is either. Mr. Wayne is very smart and very good at keeping his identity hidden and as it was said before "Secret" means "Secret".

ah crap I just realized something...
Anyone else think that Joker will find out who Batman is by torturing Rachel?

HELL NO!!! Batman shouldn't limit himself to just Gordon. He should reveal his identity to a train load of people. That would be more effecient.

hell no, he shouldn't reveal himself but if someone happens to figure it out then so be it

Yeah you're right. But how can a train load of people find out Batman's identity?

if he were spiderman they could do it... other wise it wouldn't happen

No, never it's part of the cool team even though Gordon doesn't know who Batman is he still trusts him with what he does...

But deep down I think Gordon knows who he is and Lucius as well.

yeah Lucius can/will figure it out... Gordo... 50/50

Then again this shouldn't be a movie about revealing identities just for the sake of doing something new like some supehero movies so cherishly loved to this date.

Im my opinion Fox knows, at least in Nolans world. how could he not? Gordon should be left in the dark for this one, I did always like the idea Loebb put in Long Halloween about Gordon thinking Dent was Batman for a while.

I could see a scene like the following happen in one of the new "Batman" films (I modeled it after a similar exchange from "The Mask of Zorro")...

Batman is atop the Gotham Police headquarters, as usual, for another night of reflection on the injustice plaguing the city. Crouched on the roof like a gargoyle, he hears a suggestive cough, and rises. Turning around, he's face to face with Lt. James Gordon.

Batman: "Lieutenant."

Gordon: "Batman."

Gordon smokes a cigar, bit by bit, lost in his own thoughts.

Gordon: "You know, when I first spoke about escalation, I have to be honest. I hoped it'd never get any worse. But the streets flooded with crime, people being murdered in broad daylight...and I sometimes wonder, are we doing enough?"

Batman: "I've said it before. People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy. You, me, and the few loyal citizens out there...are that example. Alone, we can be destroyed. United, we stand a chance of turning Gotham around."

Gordon: (sighs) "Tell me...why do you do it? Why help us?"

Batman: "Someone has to. I'm the only one they still fear, and I'm not afraid to use that fear against them. People like them made me who I am..."

Looking Gordon in the eye, Batman continues.

Batman: "...and people like you...gave me back what hope I have left."

Gordon: "Why are you so eager to help us...and why me?"

Stepping closer, into the shadows, Batman reaches for the back of his mask...

Batman: "Because once...a long time ago..."

(the mask comes off)

Bruce Wayne: "...you did the same for me."

Gordon:"Bruce..."

Dear Lord. Do they embrace and kiss afterwards?

dude, no. and the only way gordon would be able to find out on his own is if he made a point to put it together himself. but, in the comics, he's never seemed to care to know, he doesnt want to know, which means he's never tried to know...so i dont think in the comics he even knows. i just used the word know a lot....know know know know know know.
