to me it doesnt make any sense that some people praise the guy for the first 2 films and he messes up once and then everybody turns on him...bashin him like hell but when the first 2 came out everyone was on his nuts...i say keep him, not everyone is perfect

I know for me personally I've had qualms with Raimi since his first film. And actually SM2 which most people love, ranks only barely above SM3 for me.

I appreciate Raimi for bringing Spider-man to film for the first time and doing a respectful job of it. He gave us two solid movies and one "meh" movie (that really isn't as bad as people make it out to be, it just seemed worse because the first two were of better quality). But there were many things I thought Raimi got very wrong with his Spider-man movies, and I really would like to see another director take over that hopefully understands the character better.

I mean if you make it too big, with too many characters it either becomes an ensemble piece or overstuffed and not focused. SM1 and SM2 narrowed it (and Flash had a small part in that and Norman and Uncle Ben were present) and it worked. You simply cannot have long meandering subplots with numerous supporting characters. If you do that it would just get top-heavy. Look no further than SM3 when they added Eddie Brock and Gwen Stacy to minimal effect. It was just too much. You have to keep it simple in a film. Otherwise SM3 type problems will appear. That is the difference between 2 and 3 (well one of them).

I totally agree with this. I won't fault Raimi for not showcasing all of Spidey's supporting cast. You have to make cuts somewhere or else the movie would be too bogged down. I don't think we'll see the supporting cast's full glory on screen until someone decides to do a live action t.v. series.

I say keep him in. It'll make the movies more consistent, plus, he does a damn well good job on these films. :)

When I first came back from my absence from here for a year, I wondered where you went off to (that and I didn't know Ock became Joker until like 4 months ago scrolling an old thread).

Anyways, good to see ya still around
