Should they make another Punisher movie? - Part 1

I saw Punisher Warzone last night and it was terrible. There have 3 Punisher movies at this point and none of them have been good. Should they ever try to make a forth one and if so how do they break this cycle?

Yes I agree "Running Scared" was pretty cool. The Punisher needs to be as realistic and gritty as possible with tons of hardcore action.

On the subject of the costume, I like the usual Max look for most of the movie, but as Blackman stated, it'd be cool to have the 616 suit in some form for a climactic raid.

On the 616 look, while I got hooked on the original suit, I always preferred the alternate colours for it. I've seen depictions where he has black gloves and boots, but the only white is on the skull. I think that'd be the best route to go. For that he'd be able to have the full kevlar and gear, but hide it under a trench coat. Seeing this huge guy in a trench coat with bright white boots is rather eye catching and doesn't go well towards blending in. Just my thoughts

The costume in Punisher: War Zone is probably the closest thing we are going to get in regards to a 616 suit.

If it's another reboot, then no. But if it's a continuation of War Zone then, maybe. I didn't like Batman Begins very much but The Dark Knight was awesome. So there's a chance that they can make a better Punisher film with Ray Stevenson.

It's doubtful that will ever be an option. PWZ had the worst box office for Marvel, either they are going to go back to Jane who's Punisher was mildly successful or they will scrap it and start with a new actor.

Definitely. Running Scared even kind of reminded me a Punisher Max story translated into a movie, minus The Punisher, himself.

I just wish they could retcon P:WZ out of continuity and carry on with the Thomas Jane Punisher series, that could have been an amazing franchise.

id love if they brought back Jane for a sequel to the 04 movie.

if they decided to go new i say they start a new MAX franchise with Jon Hamm as the Punisher.

The thing is, will Marvel Studios ever do an R-rated movie. Would Punisher fans be ok if the film was a hard PG-13, (dark with plenty of killing, just no blood and nudity)

And yeah, since Jon Hamm keeps saying he's too old to be Superman, then Marvel should go after him asap and make him the Punisher. He'd be perfect for the role.

I dont see why Marvel wouldnt do a R rated Punisher. Is it just because they havent made one before? There a newer studio we'll have to wait and see. But I havent seen anything that makes me think they have something against R ratings

and people need to get over Jane as Punisher. I liked him too but hes not coming back and fans need to move on and stop bringing up bringing him back

I'd be ecstastic if Jane was back as Frank, but if I absolutely had to recast the character and start fresh, then I see Holt McCallany being a very good Punisher. He's been excellent on the recent FX show Lights Out and he not resembles Frank but also has a very good voice for him. He has a grittiness to him that's a must for Frank.

I actually think I'd be pretty happy if McCallany ended up as Frank, because while I'd prefer Jane back, McCallany is an actor I like a lot as well and think could bring something good to the character.

i liked how muscular Jane's Punisher was and if they cast Hamm then id love to see him beef up like that. hes pretty tall no?

That was actually a different Marvel Studios guy. Feige has been quoted as saying that he is open to doing an R-rated Marvel film, so there is a possibility.

Even then we had an excellent NON R rated Punisher for years. PG-13 could defiantly work.

Honestly I though Thomas Jane punisher was good and Warzone was really good. I honestly don't understand why people hate it so much. Punisher though I think just isn't a character the general audience wants right now. Really he's a guy who kills deserving criminals. Not much to really chew on. Frank isn't going to change during the films. I think Punisher would work better as a tv series then a movie.
