Silent Hill: Revelations

Compared to almost every other movie-game adaptation yeah.
The little details may have been changed, some character roles were swapped around and they added some extra things that may not have been in the original but I felt it largely kept the core and spirit of the games intact.

Damn the director/producers for putting their own niche into the movie, lol. Seriously; I think we all know that their not always gonna do everything in the game/book/comic and transfer it to a movie. The director/writers are gonna put their style/ideas into a movie, so that doesn't translate into a carbon copy of whats in source material...

I really enjoyed the first film, though my experience with the games is pretty much nill, so I guess I'm not burdened by the fanboyism.

The problem with studios is that, they're not being run by film buffs or geeks (which is now the norm). They're still middle age dudes. It'll take some time, but eventually we will get some good video game movies once the CEOs of these studios are from generation x or y.

I loved the first one, I like the director and the cast looks good.

Despite the changes the first film made I felt that it was fairly faithful to the spirit of the early games and was a great horror film. Eager to see this

The first one wasn't bad, they really nailed it visually, but I always thought it was
such a waste not to have Sean Bean as the main character, like in the game.

Dammit, I was hoping they'd move away from the stop-motion horde, which just they made them look silly. The nurses were at their scariest when it was just one or two at a time in a claustrophobic environment.

also i still dont know why they didn't just make the new film about silent hill 2's story, seriously this first scene alone would make a fantastic trailer

I can not agree with this post any more than I already do. While the first Silent Hill film was decent, there was a lot of stuff they changed that honestly didn't need to be, and then added things that had no reason to be there.

The games are so cinematic, ESPECIALLY Silent Hill 2, they could almost follow those games verbatim.

The trailer is out...and my hopes are not high. So many mistakes from the first movie are still there. It boggles the mind how Hollywood has such a hard time understanding why Silent Hill is popular and why (when done right) it works so well. There are some things that were done right in the first movie, but so much more was done wrong. And nothing has changed with this sequel as far as I can see. If they ever do a film based on Silent Hill 2 may God have mercy on us all.
