Silent Hill: Revelations

you keep on saying this yet you dont explain?

explain what there doing wrong

This was what was wrong with the first movie:

1. A large amount of people in the town. Silent Hill is supposed to be a lonesome, isolated place with few people. And yet in the first movie there was at least a couple hundred people there at the end. In the first game, there were 4-5 characters in the entire game that weren't monsters. That was it.

2. A sympathetic Dahlia. In the games she is a cruel, heartless *****. And yet in the first film they painted her as an innocent woman who loved her daughter. Dahlia did NOT love Alessa. Alessa was just a pawn to her.

3. Changing Cheryl's name to Sharon. Just a pointless change.

3. Making the main character in the first movie a woman. The first movie was an adaptation of the first game, whose protagonist was a man. I could have been "meh" about this, but then they added the whole "father on the outside trying to figure out what's going on" thing. Why didn't they just have Sean Bean be the main character, and get rid of the annoying subplot that removes the tension? I sort of liked the "Mother is God in the eyes of a child" theme they had going, but really, it wasn't needed.

4. Pyramid Head. He didn't need to be there. He shouldn't have been there. He was a manifestation of the guilt of the main character, James, and his subconscious desire to be punished for what he did (though he doesn't remember what he did till later). This leads me into:

5. Sexy nurses. Those did not belong there. They were a symbol of the sexual frustration James felt when his now-dead wife, Mary, was ill and in the hospital. No need for them to be there.

6. My biggest problem with the movie hands down: WITCH. BURNING. There was none of that **** in the game. At. All. They didn't need to add that crap to the cult and their beliefs. It was all about resurrecting their god using Alessa's psychic gifts.

Here's what seems to be wrong with the sequel

1. Why the hell is Vincent a teenager and obvious love interest for Heather? In the third game, which this movie is based off of, Vincent is a late 20's early 30's priest for the cult and a scholar. He's brilliant, and a bit of a trickster. You're never sure who's side he's on. Heather's, or the cult's. And yet in the film all of that is most likely gone just for Heather to have a love interest that was non-existent in the game.

2. Pyramid Head. Again.

3. Sexy nurses. Again.

4. Set pictures (and quick glimpses in the trailer) show the witch burning ****. Again.

I've never played the games, only watched them being played...and I am very excited about this!!! I can understand why some of you would be upset though, as I'm a Transformers purist.

I went to see the first one in theaters and man did I LOVE It, and i knew NOTHING about silent hill other than it was a creepy video game. The movie delivered for me, even though i could CLEARLY see they chopped it up by adding the dad scenes so it wasn't too "dark and abysmal"

Seems like some very shallow points there. Basically you wanted it to be 100% accurate to the first game, which really is fairly stupid considering it was an adaption, hence some changes. You have to remember that the film was supposed to summarise the series for the general audience and take the best elements from all games.

Also Pyramid Head has appeared in more games than just the second, representing something else each time.

In the film Pyramid Head may have been symbolic of Alessa's father; a tall ominous figure in her life that held great power (the reason she was ostracised was because she didn't have a father and thus "born of sin".) He's likely her own view on what her father would be; tall, powerful, destructive of those she hates, and most of all he has no identity. Alessa never knew her father so her creation's face is hidden underneath that painful looking mask.

There's more to the film than you're giving it credit for.

It didn't need to be 100% accurate, but it took WAAAAAY too many liberties.

And Pyramid Head shouldn't have been in the other games either past 2.

And I do give the film some credit. The atmosphere during the beginning and the special effects are great.

Let go of the games cannon...

just for a little bit mi amigo...

Soa nyone watch the trailer yet? Becaus eit is awesome! A little cheesy but very nice looking.

I cannot wait for this film.

Ugh... based on that trailer, it seems like the creative team has basically given up on adapting the series beyond the superficial, and is just going the cheap horror route.

The trailer didn't seem all that bad to me. Plenty of Sean Bean which is always a good thing in my book.

Well, the trailer makes it seem as if Sean Bean disappears in the 1st 5 minutes, which is... well, expected.:oldrazz:

I'm calling it, he comes back during act 2 for a bit and dies there or in act 3.

Can't get over the resemblance to Michelle Williams.

just watched it and while the visuals look interesting it seems they still havent learnt anything after the major mistake made in the first film

thought the trailer did its job not giving away that much, looking forward too this.

This is gonna be amazing, can't wait!

Random question, is the blonde girl supposed to be the little girl from the first one?

Well that's kind of stupid. Are they gonna explain what happened to her mother in the first movie throughout this one? Or is it gonna be explained in passing dialogue?

I don't really know, since the mother wasn't in the first or third games.

It will be explained and the mother will appear again in this movie.

I'm baffled as to why it took them so long to make the sequel, but I'm looking forward to it as IMO Silent Hill was the last good videogame movie.

Roger Avary who was the screenwriter on the first Silent Hill went to prison for Mansalughter. Avery was going to write the sequel and he was director Christopher Gans friend so Gans was willing to wait to see how Avery's trial went but after he went to prison Gans left the sequel and Basset took over directing and screenwriting the sequel.

So bascially the screenwriters legal drama held up the production.
