Venom Sony Revives 'Venom' Solo Movie - Part 4

Yes! I hope we see her as Scream with the fabulous drag queen hair

Scream is a different character to She-Venom.

Honestly I hope they skip She-Venom this time unless they can write a better part. It just felt like it was there to be there in the first movie.

Patricia Robertson is also a different character to Anne Weying.

There's also nothing wrong with the "she" prefix to a female superhero name. The avarage person doesn't have these bizarre hang ups regarding gender. And you can re-brand Jennifer Walters as many times as you like, she'll always be She-Hulk.

Also if they were to use Scream then I think they would do better to keep her seperate from Venom or Anne and keep her a villain like her classic depiction.

Same as above, I like Serkis and hope he does well here.

I still have my reservations on how they'll handle Carnage. Are they even still using him?

Yes, he's been confirmed as the villain for the sequel.

Was this recently? It's been a while since we've heard anything on Venom 2 it made me wonder if that's still the plan now Serkis is on board.

'Venom 2' Adds 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' Cinematographer Robert Richardson (Exclusive)

Robert Richardson, the three-time Academy Award-winning cinematographer who is coming off of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has signed on to shoot Venom 2.

Richardson is one of the industry’s most illustrious cinematographers, and one of the go-to guys for Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone.

In addition to Once Upon a Time, Richardson has worked with Tarantino since the Kill Bill movies as well as Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.

He worked with Scorsese numerous times, shooting Casino, Bringing Out the Dead, Shine a Light, The Aviator, Shutter Island and Hugo. The latter and Aviator netted him Oscar wins.

His work with Stone ranged from Platoon andWall Street to JFK (another Oscar win) and Natural Born Killers.

That's a good get. He must've had a good time working with Serkis on Breathe. Hopefully the script is worthy of his talent.

Don’t know. Often with films like this actors sign multi contract deals before signing on. Plus woody seems like a decent guy. I don’t think he would leave us hanging

At the time he was signed he said that his role in Venom would be small but his role in the sequel would be more substantial

Given they haven't seemed to move their start date, they were not exactly looking for a director to rework the movie.

This is so ass backwards. Introducing Spider-man to Venom after the fact doesn't fix the character. You can give him comic accurate look and powers, but you can't get away from the fact you wrote a different character than the Brock or symbiote from the comics.

I object to the term "Smash Hit" in that article.

Yes it made bank, but 29% Rotten Tomatoes from Critics and an 80% from audiences isn't exactly a glowing endorsement of the product. I'm blaming Amy Pascal's comments which blurred the lines between Venom & Homecoming. As well as the general MCU Spider-man excitement for pushing the numbers up. Especially because of all the speculation about the potential for a Holland cameo.

Besides one movie does not a universe make.

There's no other movie that comes to mind with that massive gulf of a divide between audience praise and critic panning...and then that exact movie itself with that exact marketing with none of the other bells & whistles of other similar movies
(maybe a Spidey cameo when there wasn't one whatsoever = more $$ than not just the average cbm,
but also the average Spider-Man movie???)
made that kind of bank.

Not sure I 100% follow you. I think you're agreeing with me, maybe . . . . .

The divide (29/80), well I could go to the DCCU for BvS (28/63) or Justice league (40/72). Those aren't even quite as big.

But yes, I think the idea that Venom might've been tied to the MCU gave it a curiosity/don't want to be left out bump, beyond just the pent up desire for the character.

Which also means to me Sony has a problem on their hands if the sequel isn't fantastic.

I'm saying it's undeniably a smash hit with all that being considered. "Overcame the odds"
I'm saying it's impossible for that MCU curiousity to be that significant of a reason for why it'd make that much money when they didn't deliver on that at all. We did get the furthest possible tease of the Daily Bugle & JJJ.

So, obviously people showed up for more than those things and are going into the sequel expecting more of what they got out of the first one.

I think for it to be a Smash hit the audience and critics need to align. Domestically it didn't even pass Solo.
