Sequels Spider-Man 4 and 5 Shooting At The Same Time?

If the story is strong enough, I am all for back-to-back films. However, if this is like Pirates where the first part was awesome (DMC) while in the 2nd part they are desperately trying to make the movie longer (like AWE), than I am not.

Hope we hear more on cast/crew for this soon. Wonder what story he is using to spread over 2 films?

Dead Man's Chest was woeful. I mean, seriously, those who think it was the best must be very rare (if not insane/incompetent/masochistic etc etc).

I thought the reason was because Akiva Goldsman, the main writer of SM3, couldn't find a good way to split the movie into two? This probably just added to that or was the main reason though.
,

I'm am willing to be corrected on this, but I am pretty sure Goldsman had anothing to do with SM3, it was the Raimi brothers and Alvin Sargent who wrote the script.

Truth be told SM-1 should have started out with Gwen Stacey. MJ should have come along later and not have been the girl next door. Remember Aunt May arranged their first date/ meeting.

I thought this too and got flamed for it. :woot: lol.

Mj wasn't even in the movie really. other than having the red hair. there were none of her traits displayed in the movie.

I have a hard time explaining to people already that Peter wasn't always interested in her like that. but because he was married to her they wanted her to be the sole love interest so people would feel sorry for him because she didnt notice him.
it also made it harder for new fans that see "there meant to be" and for Joey Q. to finally break it up :cmad:.

I believe you are correct. :word:

Not only do I not believe that they're filming SM4/SM5 back-to-back, but I don't even believe the script has been handed in yet. Or at least until I find a few other sources that can confirm this story. Has any other site reported this stuff from a different source?

We do not need the original cast back and we sure as hell don't need a reboot. Regardless of what whiners say, Spider-Man 3 was a success, and not just box office wise.

What would be best is to get a new cast and make 3 more movies, so there aren't age issues and more importantly ego issues. None of those actors made Spider-Man. Spider-Man has been a huge success since 2002 based on Spider-Man and Spider-Man alone.

These 3 next movies should be a new take on Spider-Man with a director that can really show us what Spider-Man can do on screen, and a Peter Parker character that is full of life with an actual supporting cast. And villains that are actually 100% evil and the audience can root against them completely, and enough of that every villain must be connected to Peter personally bull. As long as Raimi is director, I fear we may never see any of the above.

Raimi and the cast have done a good job, it's time for them to step down, and let a different director take the helm.

True stories, my friend.

Yeah I'm starting to be skeptical as well. Since it's been a few days and so far nothing to back it up.

Oh well, it at least gave this board a bit more life.

I think if they were to do 4 and 5 back to back, Peter being burried alive could be a pretty cool cliff hanger. But I don't really see the Lizard Kraven story line being able to go on for two movies.

Akiva Goldsman? Wtf?

I think he meant "Alvin Sargent." I agree, if that's the case. They (the writers involved) underestimated how satisfied the general public would've been if the film ended with the church bells sequence.

The long-rumored Spider-Man 4 may finally be on the way, but with a bonus: a story arc that spreads across two movies, meaning Sony may shoot a fourth and fifth movie simultaneously. Zodiac scribe James Vanderbilt has written a script that will require two movies to unfold, says Cinematical, though the deal may take some time to finalize, as the studio hadn't planned to delve into a pair of movies. The two productions would be filmed back to back, which likely means original director Sam Raimi and stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst won't return, according to Cinematical, as it's unlikely the trio would want to make another commitment of that size to the franchise …

There source is the same as SHH!'s...Cinematical. I'm still not sure it's true, I need various sources.

Seems like they want to give us a great story with lots of character development and without cramming it all together,so they are gonna make it two movies long.Looks like they learned not to jam in everything all together like what they did with SM3.

So has anyone heard the rumors about this so called "Anti-Venom" being a villian in the next movie.

I hope the speculation is that he's the next villian in the comics and not the movie.

There is no way were gonna get more symbiote or even Goblin villains for villains in SM4,and especially not gonna get them in SM5 if they shoot these movies back to back.

^Indeed, Gobins and symbiote characters are out. Thank goodness.

hmmm interesting find
thanx

I really, really doubt that source is reliable. I don't even think Anti-Venom has appeared in the comics just yet! Personally, I think Spider-Man 4 is going to be about Stegron the Dinosaur Man, who is being hunted by the Punisher and Spider-Man must make a decision whether or not to go with the regular cola or diet cola. As for SM5, it could be about Kraven hunting down the Lizard, and Spider-Man must make the choice of whether or not to spin the wheel.

That's not true. He's not even if the comics yet.
