Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

I thought Jacob Batalon was playing Harry.

"You stole Michelle, I mean MJ, from me, Peter..."

Wait.....Michael Keaton wasn’t Uncle Ben??

"Peter, with great power comes great responsibility...You will learn this while I kick your ass in a Chitauri powered bird costume!"

Mysterio has to know real magic. I just can’t see how those elementals be the work of a special FX artist who took up a life of crime.

I’m partial to Winter Soldier’s suit myself.
His and Red Skull are accurate..but I don't think they strike the level of cool that Mysterio's does. And we haven't even seen it with the practical fishbowl yet haha. I think his suit lights up, too, etc..

HT? Hot Toys?
Yup, my bad. Hot Toys. And all those other premium statue brands..ngl, I might get one for this guy lol

This can't be a coincidence. In the trailer In Venice there’s a boat with the number “ASM 212" which could mean Amazing Spider-Man #212, which was the first comic book appearance of Hydro Man.

Then, when we see the earth/stone creature, the car license plate reads 463, and Sandman was introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #4, published in 1963.

Finally, when people are running from danger in London, there’s a car license plate that reads "2865 SEP" and, you guessed it, The Molten Man first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #28, published in September 1965.

That’s really cool! I love references like that.

Agreed. It might be the best MCU villain suit. Can't think of anyone else. Although Red Skull was dope. Might be the best CBM villain suit ever adapted, too.

Can't wait for the HT of this to come out.

What's cool about Mysterio is that it probably is one of the most intricate costumes to translate into live action, and it looks like they took a bunch of ideas from different iterations and artists and blended them into one. Very accurate version of what it might look in real life.

Yeah! If you watched the pop-up trivia for HOMECOMING, there's a bunch of license plates there, too. Guess Watts loves his license plates hah.

Right, exactly. I'm glad they didn't go another route. How could you? Can't wait to see more info on it -- why it looks like the way it does, etc. They're pretty good at it having a reason for why it looks like the way it looks. Vulture, Thor's suit, Cap's, etc...

Oh yes, the whole concept of Vulture was perfect. The best updated version of the character I've seen, including in animation.

Wait, so she was Mary Jane in the fist movie, and all of the sudden she is another character? WTF

Anyway, late to the party, but: Somebody please tell me what in God name does this movie has anything to do with Spiderman. Homecoming not only was teh worst Spiderman movie, but it was the one that least resembled anything to do with Spiderman.
This one seems to be even worse, it could be literally be a trailer about any other character, i dont see Spiderman or Parker, it seems like a generic, random souless blockbuster that just happen to be named after a beloved character.
To each his or her own, but based on the Roten Tomatoes Critic and fans scores, based on the box office numbers, based on the legs of the movie, and based on a general census floating around online (now and then), I think you are in the minority on this, but that doesn't make your opinion any less valid. For some, this was the best version of Peter Parker to ever hit the screen and a lot of people, myself included, appreciated the direction with a younger actor.

Although the cast was a lot more diverse than we are used to and although Peter's love interest wasn't at all what we've ever seen in the past I think 'Home-coming' did the best in capturing the true esense of Parker and a young inexperience Spider-man. "TM and SR’s trilogy were great for their time but my kids won’t sit through them now and find them corny .They like this new cast a lot, especially TH and Zendaya. Each generation prefers their own version I guess."-- some person from Deadline said that and I think there's a lot of truth in that, so for you and a few others maybe this version just isn't for you, and that's okay. For me I appreciate the little things the director is trying to accomplish and I'm 100% on board in a way I never had been before.

With the exception of Flash, who I LOATHE, I don't mind any members of the new cast. I would prefer a classic Mary Jane, but no one else bugs me...and TH is superior to the other Spider-men, i my opinion. Homecoming was great, and it holds up after multiple viewings the same way SM2 did. Now, SM2 shows its age a little more. Homecoming will probably be the same way in a decade, simply because, well...teenagers from 10 years ago versus today versus ten years from today...

I don't care how they do it, but if they use any "real magic" then I'm done with the film.

I just don't see the point in pages of people telling me that my personal opinion is wrong. No, it's not. If your opinion is different, then...as I've said many times...GREAT. FANTASTIC. I'm glad that you like it. I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong because your opinion is just as valid as mine.

Now...about that Spider-Man trailer...

That depends on whether what you state is actually an opinion or not. To use a simple example:

1. "I like the movie"- opinion. There is nothing to argue about, unless someone wishes to take the position that you are lying about what you actually think of the movie.

2. "The movie is good"- not opinion. Its a claim about the factual properties of the movie. Infinite room to argue over whether its a true statement or not, along with the related arguments of 'What makes a movie good?' These are endlessly debateable topics, but not opinions.

If a person makes claims that are not opinions, and tries to drape them in the protective invulnerability of "opinion", then there is really good reason to call them out on it.

Eh. Holograms, robots, and supplementary machinery. I can buy it, starting from the presumption that Mysterio is legitimately a genius gadgeteer in his own right.

I don't think that would happen...it would be like Spiderman producing webbing biologically....takes away from the ingenuity of the character. :O

One of the best for sure.

lol.

Though in all seriousness comparing the two is like apples and oranges. While organic webbing can be said to take away an aspect of Peter's character it doesn't change the core of who he is. Mysterio is the master of illusion, not the mystic arts.
