I wonder if people would still idolize Tony if they knew that he's the reason all their loved ones who died in the 5 years between the Snap and the Unsnap are still dead. Probably not

Good interview. Loved this part.

Fandango: What were you able to do in this film that you didn't get to do in Homecoming?
Jon Watts: Getting to work with Jake [Gyllenhaal] and Sam Jackson was amazing, but in terms of a pure filmmaking level, I really wanted to turn up the action and make that huge. In the last movie, we kept things a little bit smaller, intentionally, to remind people why they love Spider-Man. And without changing the tone, I wanted to keep that ground-level relatability, but also turn up the level of action to create something really spectacular. I wanted to show people things that they've never seen before at the movies.

And looks like they're going to deal with the aftermath of the snap.
Fandango: That was one of the best parts of Homecoming, in terms of it giving us this ground-level version of the MCU. Like what happened to all that debris left over from the Battle of New York in The Avengers. Do you do a lot more of that in Far From Home, but with regards to the world post-Endgame?

Jon Watts: Yeah, exactly. I've always seen Spider-Man as the most relatable superhero for that reason. He is on the ground level of this fantastic universe. So many things happened in Endgame, but you don't see any of the fallout. So I used Peter Parker/Spider-Man as an opportunity to get that ground-level perspective to show you what it would look like if all these crazy things had happened. What would day-to-day life be? If you were snapped away, you'd have to work backwards and retake your midterms.

Fandango: Or what would the lines at the DMV even look like? Renewing your license or updating your passport? Are these things addressed in the film?

Jon Watts: Yeah, that was one of the most fun things -- just talking through what the most mundane implications would be. Like, your birthday on your driver's license or passport would say that you are five years older than you technically are. Those sorts of questions are just so fascinating to me, and I really wanted to get into the minutiae of it and really explore that.

I really love Jon Watts as the director. I think he has a clear vision of what he wants. I don't know why some people wanted marvel to change him.

A reddit user is claiming that sony and marvel are currently working out a new deal. But its up in the air if Sony will renew.

This sounds fake as hell. Sorry, but it does. They would not have an early front runner for Miles Morales in a potential Spider-Man 4 that won't happen for another like 5-6 years when said actor may be aged out of the role. This sounds like a pipe dream by whoever conceived of most of this stuff. Venom just made Sony a ton of money. They're going to push for that sequel to happen, and Morbius is filming. So they cannot just cancel that movie.

I love reddit "scoops"

So is there a reason on why Peter bothers in dodging bullets while taking on the armed gunmen in his iron spider outfit? Isn't that suit supposed to be bulletproof?lol

And man, I really miss the cinematography from the first TASM film. If they could figure out on how to shoot these films like that then a lot of things (while still decent) would look A LOT better.

I think him dodging is just instinctual. It’s always explained as he’s pretty much on auto pilot just using his senses and reflexes without thinking. I’m so thankful that the iron spider suit seems like it won’t be seen much in the movie or possibility just the beginning if I’m reading the trailers correctly. I felt like the suit is overpowered and that’s before I even took into account it possibly being Bulletproof lol.

Just give the kid some spandex and let him go to work with his own powers and abilities.

Jeez...Debbie Downer. ;)
Probably still thankful...seeing as how the alternative was everything being completely blinked out of existence and their free will removed as reality was rebuilt to remove the strong-willed and to make the beings of the universe except subjugation, which is what Thanos was heavily implying about removing the "stubbornness" from the surviving beings.

Given that, I'm sure people would still complain. That's kind of all people are good for doing most of the time.

Well, I looked at it as, even though the suit is bulletproof, the bullets at that close range still carry enough velocity that they would seriously hurt him and knock the wind out of him. Also, as with a bullet proof vest, you can still get cracked or broken ribs if hit. It's not like it's an Iron Man suit, after all. Not as rigid. I imagine Peter would rather avoid a concussion from a bullet to the head and just dodge.

Also, bulletproof was the most lame aspect of the comic Iron Spider suit, so I'm fine if they don't use that.

I'm most excited to see Jake Gyllenhaal. He's a wonderful actor, no matter what he's in and I have every reason to believe he'll make a great Mysterio.

I'm least excited to Zendaya as MJ. She bored me in Homecoming and the latest trailer for this isn't suggesting I'll feel any differently.

I might be in the minority, but I love ZEndaya as MJ. I’m a hardcore Peter/MJ shipper in all mediums. I just find her dry sarcastic humor fitting and I think her and Tom together can have some good chemistry of the script allows for it

Well, I’m not a huge Marvel fan overall, so I’m not bothered about them not all being in the same universe.

And the multiverse makes the most sense. It just does.
I'm glad comic writers didn't have this mentality everytime they wanted to introduce a new concept into the Marvel Universe 441312.jpg
Otherwise, the prime Earth/616 would be very, VERY small.

That image above is what Marvel should strive for. Walling the X-Men and Fantastic Four off into their own universe runs counterintuitive to the benefits of Disney acquiring these properties in the first place.

I love Spidey and MJ, I'm just bummed we're into his seventh movie, and we've never gotten a proper comic MJ. We had Kirsten Dunst and we have Zendaya...I just once wanted a super-hot redhead with a crazy fun personality and some personal demons...which we haven't gotten. I think Spider-Verse gave us the best Peter/MJ, but Spider-Verse was the best of everything...

Outside of having a smidge more melanin than her comic book version, Zendaya would have been a near perfect fit for that role. Though I like MCU MJ, I'm have no idea why Sony and Marvel Studios didn't just cast her as Mary Jane Watson.

I'm hoping his "world" is the
branched timeline that Steve created in Endgame by staying with Peggy.
I would love for Mysterio to mention
Steve and Peggy running SHIELD were he's from
or something like that.
That's a very plausible theory. Who's to say that, with Steve and Peggy at the help of SHIELD, Hydra might not have been able to take over. Meaning that Captain Marvel's cosmic universe might've been handled differently in the 90's.

I agree, she could have been really great.

I still have no idea why they decided to make MJ "Michelle" instead of Mary Jane when the latter has never been done right in live action. I too feel like Spider-Verse was the closest

I agree with that....

But Kirsten Dunst from the start rubbed me the wrong way and it got worst film after film. I just enjoy Zendaya as a character. Maybe not as MJ but as a character I do like her. The name is so stupid though. It would have been a simple fix to just name her Mary Jane. I don’t get why they went that route at all

The Spider verse and PS4 had great Versions of the character and heck the spectacular series also

Yeah, I still can’t believe we got Jake, and for such an interesting villain.

I wish they would unleash the real Zendaya, who I think could play a legit MJ. This sarcasm one-note character is not that appealing so far.

Well, those are the best 3 Spideys things ever, anyways! Well said. I always thought making her a different kind of MJ was weird...as opposed to just making her Mary Jane proper. Either solution was fine, this just seem a little...strange. Either way, I like her just fine.

Mysterios look is on point. This is One of the very few times that I can remember a movie interpretation blowing the comic book version away in terms of look.

I'm guessing she will be unleashed in the third movie?
