Fandango: What were you able to do in this film that you didn't get to do in Homecoming?
Jon Watts: Getting to work with Jake [Gyllenhaal] and Sam Jackson was amazing, but in terms of a pure filmmaking level, I really wanted to turn up the action and make that huge. In the last movie, we kept things a little bit smaller, intentionally, to remind people why they love Spider-Man. And without changing the tone, I wanted to keep that ground-level relatability, but also turn up the level of action to create something really spectacular. I wanted to show people things that they've never seen before at the movies.
Fandango: That was one of the best parts of Homecoming, in terms of it giving us this ground-level version of the MCU. Like what happened to all that debris left over from the Battle of New York in The Avengers. Do you do a lot more of that in Far From Home, but with regards to the world post-Endgame?
Jon Watts: Yeah, exactly. I've always seen Spider-Man as the most relatable superhero for that reason. He is on the ground level of this fantastic universe. So many things happened in Endgame, but you don't see any of the fallout. So I used Peter Parker/Spider-Man as an opportunity to get that ground-level perspective to show you what it would look like if all these crazy things had happened. What would day-to-day life be? If you were snapped away, you'd have to work backwards and retake your midterms.
Fandango: Or what would the lines at the DMV even look like? Renewing your license or updating your passport? Are these things addressed in the film?
Jon Watts: Yeah, that was one of the most fun things -- just talking through what the most mundane implications would be. Like, your birthday on your driver's license or passport would say that you are five years older than you technically are. Those sorts of questions are just so fascinating to me, and I really wanted to get into the minutiae of it and really explore that.
A reddit user is claiming that sony and marvel are currently working out a new deal. But its up in the air if Sony will renew.
So is there a reason on why Peter bothers in dodging bullets while taking on the armed gunmen in his iron spider outfit? Isn't that suit supposed to be bulletproof?lol
And man, I really miss the cinematography from the first TASM film. If they could figure out on how to shoot these films like that then a lot of things (while still decent) would look A LOT better.
I wonder if people would still idolize Tony if they knew that he's the reason all their loved ones who died in the 5 years between the Snap and the Unsnap are still dead. Probably not

I'm most excited to see Jake Gyllenhaal. He's a wonderful actor, no matter what he's in and I have every reason to believe he'll make a great Mysterio.
I'm least excited to Zendaya as MJ. She bored me in Homecoming and the latest trailer for this isn't suggesting I'll feel any differently.
I'm glad comic writers didn't have this mentality everytime they wanted to introduce a new concept into the Marvel UniverseWell, I’m not a huge Marvel fan overall, so I’m not bothered about them not all being in the same universe.
And the multiverse makes the most sense. It just does.
Can I just say how awesome Iron Spider looks in live action. It was like seeing the ps4 iron spider suit come to life.
I love Spidey and MJ, I'm just bummed we're into his seventh movie, and we've never gotten a proper comic MJ. We had Kirsten Dunst and we have Zendaya...I just once wanted a super-hot redhead with a crazy fun personality and some personal demons...which we haven't gotten. I think Spider-Verse gave us the best Peter/MJ, but Spider-Verse was the best of everything...I might be in the minority, but I love ZEndaya as MJ. I’m a hardcore Peter/MJ shipper in all mediums. I just find her dry sarcastic humor fitting and I think her and Tom together can have some good chemistry of the script allows for it

That's a very plausible theory. Who's to say that, with Steve and Peggy at the help of SHIELD, Hydra might not have been able to take over. Meaning that Captain Marvel's cosmic universe might've been handled differently in the 90's.I'm hoping his "world" is theI would love for Mysterio to mentionbranched timeline that Steve created in Endgame by staying with Peggy.or something like that.Steve and Peggy running SHIELD were he's from
I agree, she could have been really great.Outside of having a smidge more melanin than her comic book version, Zendaya would have been a near perfect fit for that role. Though I like MCU MJ, I'm have no idea why Sony and Marvel Studios didn't just cast her as Mary Jane Watson.

Yeah, I still can’t believe we got Jake, and for such an interesting villain.I'm most excited to see Jake Gyllenhaal. He's a wonderful actor, no matter what he's in and I have every reason to believe he'll make a great Mysterio.

I agree with that....
But Kirsten Dunst from the start rubbed me the wrong way and it got worst film after film. I just enjoy Zendaya as a character. Maybe not as MJ but as a character I do like her. The name is so stupid though. It would have been a simple fix to just name her Mary Jane. I don’t get why they went that route at all
The Spider verse and PS4 had great Versions of the character and heck the spectacular series also
He looks great even without the helmet.
Yeah, I still can’t believe we got Jake, and for such an interesting villain.
I wish they would unleash the real Zendaya, who I think could play a legit MJ. This sarcasm one-note character is not that appealing so far.
