Very intrigued by the Miles cameo at the end.
Sorry to hear that, the quick time events did seem a bit much but I don't really know how else they could do those big cinematic moments, and hey I still think it's better to have some interactivity instead of just watching a cutscene.
The swinging did look a little slow but it flowed really really well. I'm sure there's more to it than what we got to see.
The web zipping is definitely the same idea from Beenox's games but that isn't a bad thing, it was a good method to get around the environment for stealth.
I can understand some of the complaints people may have with the web swinging cause maybe it does look a little slow however I'll say this--Spider-Man is not an easy character to develop a game for due to his insane maneuverability. He can start and stop on a dime, jet off into any direction, and be at all different altitudes. It's gotta be quite taxing for a processor to keep up with him and you wanna have nice detailed environments too--so for every bit of juice you use to make Spidey faster, you're gonna lose some detail. I think Insomniac had to find a good balance in making a nice looking game with no pop-in crap going on and to make that happen, they probably had to scale back on Spidey's speed.
If as movie video game tie in from 2004 can figure it out, so can a AAA game.
Untrue. In this gameplay demo Spider-Man moves just about as fast if not faster than he did in the SM2 game
with greater amounts of detail in the environment as well as with Spidey himself. And SM2 had all kinds of pop-in issues where this game does not appear to have that problem. So, yeah, if anything I think Insomniac has found the proper balance regarding the web swinging. I can understand the complaints, I suppose, since it doesn't appear he's moving that fast but it looks great to me
What does having greater amounts of detail and less pop ups mean Insomniac has found better balance in web swinging? I am baffled.
Untrue.
Then they should dial the detail down so the webswinging can be better and faster. I highly doubt that's the case however.
I think they'll show it on live.playstation.com.I really can't wait to see today's presentation. Anyone know where it's being streamed?
It appears they're moving about the same rate. But remember in SM2 you could upgrade the swing speed so I'm not sure when you played it last or maybe you watched a video on it--the speed will vary depending on the upgrade.
I also think the game is about a year out or more and requires some more work and polish. For what was presented, I'm not concerned about it.
It's not that difficult to understand. Look at all the previous Spider-Man free roam games and how they often appear to be 'behind' other games when it comes to the visuals. They suffer from many issues in the free roam areas with pop-in, the environment looks empty, structures lack detail, glitches, etc. etc. Spidey's mobility is taxing on the processor. Of course the PS4 is more powerful than those other systems but it looks like Insomniac has finally got it right--found the balance between getting the processor to make a well-detailed environment and not detract too much from Spider-Man's mobility.
Here ya go:Many thanks! By the way, where's your avatar from? It kind of gives me a classic Disney animated movie vibe. Really cool!
Spider-man 2 web swinging was faster even before upgrades. Plus, there is no guarantee you can upgrade web swinging in this game, as it's a different game by a different developer.
And the best part is it's Spider-Man doing that. He deserves this so much. From every mediocre to horrible game hes been in to now having by far THE best game at an E3 is just incredible. It's just awful it's taken this long for the character to get the game he deserves.
